    Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1

    Username: bluex
    Buttermilk: Elpis

Prompt: "Heads down, tails up; we've got some work to do!" Elpis puts her head on the ground and peers through the sea of cow legs to see if there's any sign of the feathered critter, but ends up getting a nose full of grass instead! A loud sneeze erupted from the small grey heifer, and she clambers to her hooves. Her bright green eyes are dimmed with defeat when she looks back at Daffodil.
"Nothin'," she shyly mumbles. Her ears bounce as she swivels her head, extending her neck to see past the sea of pelts. Huffing in annoyance, Elpis begins to yell at passersby.
"HEY! You seen a duck around 'ere?" She bounces from bovine to bovine, asking in a loud frustrated tone if they've seen the rampaging creature. She even started quacking at some of them when they got confused about what she wanted, as if they didn't know what a duck was. She stomped from stall to stall, harassing all of the owners with her questions and a barrage of duck noises.

    Buttermilk: Aria
    Prompt:
With an almighty quack, the duck bolted down the streets. Aria was shocked. Never had she seen a duck quite like that. The winged-creature took off on its little webbed-feet, causing people to get out of its way, mild panic prominent as Aria raced through the crowd, tailing behind the duck.
“Sorry! Coming through! Make way! Excuse me!” She yelled as she tried her best to keep up with the duck. Aria might not have any prior experiences with handling poultry of any kind but she is quick on her feet and adventurous. The duck quacked and panicked as it flapped its wings and pounded the pavement with its web feet. Amongst the crowd, you could hear the sound of panic quacks, shoes stomping and people yelling “Get the duck!”.
With the crowd, the bird had no room to take flight, something Aria was grateful for. It would’ve been more troublesome to catch it then.
As the crowd started to thin, Aria knew this would be the only chance she had before the duck took flight. It was already pumping its wings, preparing to fly like an airplane on a runway. Just as the bird’s feet lifted off the air, Aria made a final sprint and caught the bird mid-air! The bird was shocked. Aria was shocked. The crowd was shocked. There was a moment of silence before cheers roared. The duck has been caught.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
Username:
Buttermilk: Evangeline
Prompt:
Evangeline scurried through the crowded street, trying her best to avoid bumping into people as she navigated her way around. Just a few yards ahead she could see the top of a little white head waddling quickly to and fro, bobbing in and out of view. "Hey! Stop that duck!" She squeaked, as a burly looking man bent down and handed the escapee a slice of bread. The second the bread left the man's hand the duck took off, disappearing into the crowd for good. Eva, having finally made it to the big man through the crowd, stopped at his feet. ' He has to be 2 stories tall, ' she thought to herself. "Hello, which way did that duck go?" her tiny voice peeped out, and she wondered if it even reached his ears. The man looked down, and chuckled. "Oh, was that your duck? I'm sorry, I didn't see which way she went." Evangeline mumbled something under her breath and began trudging away, quite discouraged at the thought of losing sight of that rotten little duck. "Hey there wait a moment!" A booming voice rang out after her, and she jumped. "Who, me?" She asked, turning back around to face the big man. "Yes, you. Here, take this loaf with you. Who knows, maybe if you find that duck you'll be able to use it to catch the thing." Eva nodded and gratefully took the loaf of bread. "Thank you," she said, before turning again and walking off in the direction where the duck had disappeared, her steps a little lighter knowing she had at least some way of getting that dastardly thing to come to her.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
Username: Hailey
Buttermilk: Serenity
Prompt:

Serenity's eyes followed the duck as it hastily made its way through the crowds. The duck sure was creating havoc there was no arguing with that. Tripping up cows-knocking over buckets filled with goods, and nipping cows with his beak. You could easily see the annoyance radiating of daffy. “That dastardly duck has made a run for it! He’s left the duck pond and is now tearing through the crowded farmers market! Are you ok to handle the large crowds? Are you able to ask around if anyone has seen the duck?”
The chocolate-colored heifer twitched her ears to the words that came out of daffy’s mouth. Serenity was never a one for crowds and her short temper doesn’t help. She was about to reply with a stern no but before she could, her emotions were reversed with the look on daffy’s face. “Fine, I’ll look for the dam duck” rolling her eyes she trotted towards the gate preparing herself for crowds and awkward conversations.

Making her way through the farmers market she decides to start her questioning.“Excuse me, have you seen a rapid duck?” No answer... She guessed the bull didn’t hear her, rolling her eyes she yells “Have you seen a rapid duck!?” Unknowingly the bull gets startled, stepping backward forcing serenity to slip backwards into the mud almost to avoid getting squished. The now covered in mud heifer drags herself to the side next to an empty stall rolling her eyes and lets out a loud huff. Shaking off the mud whipping her tail from side to side in aggravation.

Buttermilk: Sequoia
Prompt: "Where could that darn duck have gone?" Sequoia questioned herself. Her mother, Journee, had sent for her help as Journee is blind and trying to find that duck herself would've been close to impossible.
Sequoia chuckled at the thought of watching her mother blindly searching for the loose duck.

Sequoia started on the strawberry fields, searching every row, but there were no freshly picked berries yet, each still clinging to the plants with life.

She was tempted to go through the corn maze, but spooks and dark corners were not her style. She'd leave that to another Buttermilk.
She hadn't seen his little webbed foot prints anywhere so her guess was as good as the next.

She went on to search for Daffy in Liz's crop, but decided not to trample on her fields. The next stop was Nessa's egg place. Why wouldn't a duck go there?

She dropped by, meandering through crowds of cattle, searching far and wide, but still no sight of the duck.

She sighed, feeling slightly defeated, Daffy nowhere to be found. Her legs were tiring, and she wanted a nap, so the lazy gal headed home to get some rest, hoping to continue her search for the duck the next morning.

Prompt: "don't worry, i've got this," arabella grumbled before taking off towards the various booths. a buttermilk stood in her way and she grunted as she sidestepped around them. "can't you see i'm trying to do something?" she snapped as she hurried past, glancing around for that sneaky duck. her tail whipped around furiously as she wandered, looking for a flash of white or the sound of duck feet slapping on the ground. she knew she should probably ask around, but she knew she had an abrasive personality and an alarming appearance, and for that reason she tended not to put herself out there much. instead, she pressed on, working by herself. if she saw tempest, she might ask her for help, but otherwise, she was a bit of a loner. she stomped a hoof in annoyance at the lack of any sign of the duck - it was a duck in a market filled with buttermilks, why was this so difficult? she knew her temper was getting the best of her, but this was a frustrating task.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
Username: BiscuitTheDog
Buttermilk: Carmie
Prompt:
Hooves pounded over grass as Carmie galloped through the thin part of the crowd, her yellow eyes set on the waggling butt of a runaway duck. the cows in this part spread out, making way for the brown heifer. Carmie's hooves were almost in reach of the duck's tail! If she just reached forward- bonk!
Carmie stumbled backwards. She'd ran into the behind of another bovine without looking. A large gray bull turned around, nostrils flaring. "Watch where you're going!" he yelled.
Carmie gulped, skittering away. The duck had disappeared from view. Now, it could only be under the crowd's legs. This portion of the crowd was the densest, with cows barely having room to move. Carmie didn't know where this crowd was headed, but she was determined to get that darned duck.
Carmie took a deep breath and raced through an opening that came up. She powered forward but was always stopped by the complaining of short-tempered crowd members or the occasional sugar-high calf that charged udner the crowd's feet. Carmie knew that msot of the younger calves would be delighted to chase a duck, but she'd just have to find- oof!
The crowd had stopped. Carmie grimaced. Perhaps she could talk her way through. But there was just one problem with that- talking. Carmie flicked her tail and shouldered closer to a short, cream-colored heifer.
"H-hey," Carmie mumbled. The cream heifer glanced up before scooting to the side a bit. She eyed Carmie. "Do I know you?" She asked with an edge to her voice.
Dang, this crowd sure was in an annoyed mood today.
If Carmie could sweat, she'd have been sweating by know. She looked at the cream heifer, he mind racing. "U-um, have you seen a duck? I-it- Um, it's a big duck, and it's white and mean-"
the cream heifer snorted. "Darling, if there were a duck, I'd have seen it by now."
Carmie found that incredibly hard to believe. One could barely look down at the ground without bumping into the cow in front of them or bumping into any of the other cows around them.
"Darn my terrible social skills!" Carmie muttered angrily to herself under her breath. The brown heifer attempted to navigate out of the crowd by backing up. "Perhaps I can get around this crowd and find the duck from there."
She moved a single step backwards and ended up stepping on a cow's toes.
"OUCH!" A black heifer behind her yelped. "WATCh where you're going!!" It yelled.
Carmie gulped and dipped her head in embarrassment. She huffed and looked up. Stretching her head, she realized this crowd was quite big, and would only get bigger.
There was no way Carmie could get out. All she could do was ask around. Maybe if she asked nicely enough, she could make her way to the front.
But, as aforementioned, Carmie sorely sucks at small talk, or any talk, for that matter.
The heifer's ears drooped as she let out a defeated sigh. All she could do now was wait.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
Username: Bluebird-
Buttermilk: Hazel
Prompt:

Hazel wandered into the bustling market, the tail feathers of the white duck disappearing beyond a wall of moving legs and shoes falling on packed dirt. The heifer was no stranger to the crowd, often dragging a cart of homemade bouquets, wreaths, and flower baskets to her florist stall on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Still, the duck was rather small so she kept her head down, following a trail of fluffy white down that weaved through stalls and down passages. Luckily people moved out of the way for a large cow such as herself, and the ones who recognized her moved out of the way anywho, with a smile and a nod of greeting. She always smiled back, dipping her head to friends and customers, her bell clanging as she did so. It occurred to her that perhaps some of the crowd may have seen the pesky bird, so she began asking around. Few gave her funny looks, but most chuckled and pointed towards the other side of the market where the crowd had thinned out due to a lack of stalls. Hazel headed that way as fast as her hooves could take her, finally breaking through and seeing the duck disappear behind a stack of crates. Onward!

    Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1

    Buttermilk: Pele
    Prompt:
“That dastardly duck has made a run for it! He’s left the duck pond and is now tearing through the crowded farmers market! Are you ok to handle the large crowds? Are you able to ask around if anyone has seen the duck? Tell me how you plan to navigate this crowd to find the duck today!”

It wasn't every day Pele was hit over the head with a duck on a rampage but, well, they weren't so sure if they were annoyed or flattered as they stared after the feathery fiend. All they knew was one second the cow before them was going off about something frivolous like safety and the next they had a mouthful of feathers. Were ducks supposed to feel like being hit by a bowling ball? Surely they couldn't be that heavy and - oh right! With a visible start, Pele refocused, latching onto the words the cow - Dahlia? Delilah? D-Duck? What was that name again? - and promptly charging off after the beast and right into a crowd.

Stopping to talk was a mistake. They knew it was going to be a mistake and yet they couldn't help but to get distracted by some pretty pottery or a vendor with a very cool hat and, well, could you blame them if they had to stop and watch the trainwrack of a date meet it's tragic end? The point was, they made a mistake, and by the time they remembered they had a goal in all this there was no sign of their quarry.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 1
Username: Elliad.
Buttermilk: Melody
Prompt:
Melody watched on, mouth agape as the duck tore off, leaving her standing alone. “Why won’t you just follow me?” she whined, trotting off after the duck.

As the young heifer entered the crowd, she stopped to talk to calves in the crowd, reasoning that they are closer to the ground and the height of the duck so they’ll be able to see a duck more easily. “Have you seen a small duck. It quacks and runs really fast?”

As she trotted around, navigating through the crowd in a serpentine, the duck had disappeared from her line of sight.

Melody let out a sigh as she made a guess as to where the duck had gone.

She gazed at the large lake, a frown on her face that quickly morphed to a smile whenever another cow passed by. She stomped her hoof as she let out a sharp huff. “I know! There is one way that will fool a simple duck: you become one with the duck.”

The heifer stepped down into the lake, kicking her legs out as she began to swim. “quack, quack, quack,” she shouted into the empty lake, “I’m just like you, come with me! Quack quack!”
