Prompt: Casca was surprised to find how loving and friendly a cat could be when she found Serenity. Her father and his clan never had kindness as a core value, but theses cats Serenity spokeof held it over their own lives. She held Serenity down on her back with her sharp talon like glove over her throat. Yet.. Serenity simply smiled at the slightly larger molly and asked. "Have you never heard a complement before?"

Sometimes Casca would get sent out on her own. She was a high ranking solider in her fathers army when she met the fellow black pelted she-cat. The fact that she wasn't the highest ranking soldier was a great shame that she wore under her glove. The light clinking of her glove had become a common sound to her ears, she never jumped when they pinched her fur or snapped a twig beneath her weight. For better or for worse her accessories had become an extensions of herself, her trusty paw. Being a soldier isn't a pretty life, its bloody, cruel, and cold. You have to do so many things in the name of a cause, its harder when you don't believe in the cause to begin with.

On one of those cold nights, sweet scents of spring lingering in the air as the heat of summer was washing over Casca's home. Serenity found herself on a late night walk, getting lost in the deer trials that called her when the clinking of a sharp metal claws met her ears. Turning to find the source was mere inches away from her seemed to have shocked them both. Casca's eyes widened as she had anger quickly running over her mind wondering how she could have missed this cats scent. Casca growled, she's been getting lost in her thoughts about the cause and everything it stands for. Serenity could see in her eyes that this was less anger and more of pure driven fear and instinct. Just on her body posture alone she could tell this cat knew how to fight and had been doing it her whole life. There was no need to fight back, Serenity knew she could never win. As Cascas hind legs and front laws latched into her underbelly pinning her to the ground she was frightened to find now muscle tension in the she cat below.

Serenity was freighted but she accepted fate as it was handed to her and that is why when she got a mere second of silence between the two she was quick to use her time while she had it. "Your eyes are very pretty." She said quickly and peaked up at the molly who held her life in her sharp claws.

"W-What?!" She spat quickly moving her metal ally over her fluffy throat. "Don't play mind games." Casca spat, but her eyes welted up with small tears that left her gasping and looking around frantically. She needed to hide her face and dry away this leaky water trails. Her paw remained firmly planted on Serenity though her prey drive and instinct knew better then to let her go. A light and yet ever so bright smile crossed Serenities face as she spoke kindly.

"Have you never heard a complement before?" A brief pause passed between words before she spoke again. "I assumed you'd be a shining star from where you come from. Are you alright?" Just then Casca's cold sharp eyes fell to round soft pupils as she flopped down onto Serenity. It became clear she wasn't okay and Serenity wanted to help her feel alright again. The laid and spoke for what seemed like hours, once the sun began to rise they knew it must be so that they had spoke for hours. Laughs broke out near the end but the final words were deeper than any other words shared that evening. Its was Casca's voice who fought the goodbye that Serenity tried to pass on to her.

"I won't feel alright if you leave, if I go back I won't have let you live next time I see you. Look my father-" Serenity pushed her paw pads gently lover the felines mouth to cease her words. She stood up, turned, and flicked her tail for her to follow.

"It will be a long walk but somehow I think you can make it." Serenity said glancing back as persuaded the molly to follow with her swishing tail and welcoming arms. "I have some friend back home, they will love you just as I have. You won't have to fear anyone or do anything your not comfortable with ever again with us. Though your strong I would never force the role as a solider on you again, never more!" She stomped as her last words left her mouth before Casca bumped into her, jogging ahead as she did so.

"I heard the morning patrol, we have to hurry." She said urgently jogging as Serenity caught up careful. "But thank you, I am honored to be welcomed into your company."

Serenity gave a light chuckle. "Please, we call ourselves a 'clowder'. We have no needs for armies or company's with our lifestyle."

The greatest surprise of his life was when Steelstrike was hit by lightning. He doesn’t remember much of his life before the strike, only flashes of the past - he knows that he was born into an outdoor enclosure built by humans, and that there were a few other cats living in there with him.

He remembers that one day, there was a raging storm unlike any he’d ever seen before. The winds were so strong that a giant rock was blown into the metal fencing, tearing an opening in it, and everyone ran out. The second he shot out, there was a loud, bright flash, and white light engulfed his vision. He felt something like fire racing through his veins, and then he felt nothing. When he woke up, he felt different - stronger, faster, more alert. He was next to a stream, and when he stood up to get a drink, he saw his reflection. He had changed.

Steelstrike’s eyes used to be a gray-green color, but now they were bright blue, and he also had new white markings going in rippling streaks across his fur. He touched a paw to his face. He couldn’t believe it.

He wasn’t sure what to do, so Steelstrike just tried to live as best he could. He set off walking, wandering from place to place. Through trial and error, he taught himself to fish, and one day he came face to face with the first cat he’d seen after the storm - her name was Moonhowl. The second she saw his fur, she asked whether he’d ever been struck by lightning.

When he asked how she could possibly know that, she said the same thing had happened to her - and it had given her white spotted markings scattered around her body and the white star marking on her face. It had also given her strange physical abilities. She could see incredibly well, farther than should be possible for a cat, and she was more agile than she’d ever been before. Steelstrike was amazed that he had found another cat like him. The two traveled together for a while, and eventually Moonhowl invited Steelstrike to come to live with her in a place called the Compound. He accepted.

Aequaira absentmindedly kneaded the grass below her paws, considering her options. "Silvoshia is the best in spring. I like when it rains."
They looked up at the clear blue sky and pictured Silvoshia's spring rainfall: a soft relaxing pitter-patter echoing through the forest and surrounding meadows, darkening clouds still allowing the sun to peek through, the smell of spring rain filling the atmosphere. Sometimes it got too muddy afterwards, but the rainbows made up for it; sometimes the breeze was too chilly, but Aequaira could huddle close to her best friend (also known as her crush) for warmth. That memory made the moth blush slightly, but they shook the feeling away.
Aequaira wasn’t much of a talker, but something urged her to speak more. "There’s a rainbow after every rainfall back at home. Sometimes multiple. It's really special."
Their antennae twitched as the light breeze shifted slightly. They wondered how often Helicity was graced with peaceful rains rather than thunderstorms. All Aequaira knew thus far was that it was unpredictable, but currently rather nice out. "We’ll only get more powerful storms in the summer." And those summer storms were quite intense. She could practically feel the crashing thunder in her bones, and the only thing providing any light in the thick cloudy darkness were the jagged lightning strikes reaching down to the horizon. Those storms were rare, thank goodness– Aequaira loved a good storm as much as the next lumenwing (as long as there was shelter available to protect their wings), but if those thunderstorms were any more common the flooding during Silvoshia's summers would be ridiculous.

BREEDING

Kelphons currently have no major rules surrounding coat patterns, but it is highly suggested they resemble some sort of bird. If this is not the case, they must at least have some sort of coloring based around either gryphons or kelpies, as to remain compliant with their lore. In this case, they are free to lean more towards either coloration, with kelpie-based Kelphons being allowed more horse-based coat patterns, such as dun or bay, usually with some sort of greenish/blueish hue to it. This can be ignored for MYOs and customs, which have no set guidelines. If they lean more towards gryphon, it is suggested that they stay within the golden brown-red colorations.

In the event that a Kelphon does not resemble any of these three options, and instead resembles, for example, a cow or deer, then they must be made as a custom or MYO.

Here, you will find the basic rules of Kelphons. If anyone is to break these rules, they will be given a strike, resulting in a temporary ban, lasting from one week to a month based on the severity of the rule broken. After three strikes, a person will be permanently banned from participating in Kelphons,w ith all their owned Kelphons and items being taken away.

GENERAL RULES
1. Follow all CS rules, faluire to do so will result in a permaban, and you will be reported.
2. Absolutely no generative AI, especially in terms of reference or writing. Failure to follow this rule will result in a temporary ban of one month. Repeated offenses will result in a permaban.
3. No harassing of Kelphon Staff or participants. Failure to comply will result in a temporary ban of two weeks and a report.
4. No begging for handouts. There will be plenty of free events and adopts, so refrain from bugging people for free things.
5. There is no limit on how many Melphons you can own.
6. You are, obviously, free to have OCs that are Kelphons/Kelphon-adjacent, as no idea is truly original/all ideas have been done at least once. However, if you'd like to use a Kelphon in any sort of our (soon to be) ARPG activities, you will need to have them transferred over to the official Oekaki lines, either as an MYO or Custom.

SPECIES RULES
1. Follow all color/pattern rules.
2. Kelphons are not to have any sort of horns or antlers unless under special circumstances, such as a special event/myo based around deer or similar.
3. Kelphons have a 50/50 chance for nearly all traits, so when making an myo, I suggest flipping a coin to see what traits you can have.
4. There are no rarity based traits in Kelphons, except for a rare trait that can give a Kelphon extra legs/wings/heads. This trait is extremely uncommon among these creatures, and is only allowed to be added to an myo or custom if a certain item is provided. Artists are free to make adoptable Kelphons with this trait on occasion (say, one every 10 Kelphons made)
5. As Kelphons age, they start to grow fangs. These fangs are not visible from the day they hatch, up until about 4 years. However, if a Kelphon is female or is born with special traits, it is more likely to have visible and/or multiple fangs from a younger age.
6. Unlike most species, Kelphons do not have a set number of breeding slots, thus making them unlimited. On the subject of breeding, Kelphons, after breeding, will produce 1-5 offspring, typically. Kelphons may also be "bred" with others of any gender, or even with creatures of a different species, so long as they are similar enough (equine/kelpie, gryphon, similar). So, if you want to mix the genes of, say, a horse OC with the genes of a Kelphon, you can, so long as you check with Owner/Co-Owner.
7. Kelphons are able to be transfered to virtually any species, so long as it is allowed in the other species as well, and as long as the OG artist is asked before transferring. They may also be used as OCs and given lore, even if it differs from their OG post. The only requirement with transferring a Kelphon into another closed species, making them anthro, changing up their lore (etc) is that their OG post should always remain their main reference.

GENDER DIFFERENCES

General Rules:

2: do not claim ownership of draquins you do not own, and please credit back to me (azemyc) on CS and th if used off site

4: AI usage from anyone involved with or participating in the species at any point is strictly prohibited.
5: Users banned or prohibited from participating in the species will be permitted to keep their Draquin, however, they will not be allowed to use them in any Draquin events or species functions.


Adopts Rules:
1: you must have some sort of tracker or central hub to keep slot and adopt information.
2: no changing your draquin's design without proper items
3: you may add accessories without approval/items so long as they don't mimic traits
4: you may trade/sell/transfer into other species after a two week cooldown that starts once you own the draquin.
5: with the artist's approval, and if permitted by the other species, you may 'duplicate' / transfer a design into other species and still use the original draquin in the ARPG and Draquin Drafts species, and vice versa. Credit must be given for the original design to the artist.
6: Transfers in must follow Draquin Draft rules and species traits.
7: Draquin Drafts follow horse genetics with a few additional color genes. Genetic strings are provided and may not be edited unless approved or for an update


Species Rules:
1: draquin drafts may be any gender and may breed with any unrelated draquin
2: draquin get 10 breeding slots. These slots may be traded, sold, etc.
3: draquin may be protrayed as wild or domesticated in art, writing, etc. for the species run events
4: you do not need to follow species 'lore' with your adopted draquin outside of species run arpg stuff

FAQs:
Q: Is there an archive?
A: There is an archive planned, but for now personal trackers are sufficient enough.

Q: Will there be ARPG functions?
A: Eventually there might be! For now, though, I'm focusing on just building the species up.

Q: How much freedom is there with genetics?
A: It's kinda loosey-goosey! The genetics are more or less there for breeding purposes and for rarity and variety, but artists and those making customs + MYOs have the ability to interpret as needed and the flexibility to just have fun with things. The genes are more or less loose guidelines instead of law.

Q: Do I have to use the premade trait lines?
A: Nope! You're allowed to make your own lines as long as they do not mimic another trait or add something the species does not have.

Q: Do I have to participate in any future ARPG events or functions for anything?
A: No, you do not. ARPG stuff will be completely voluntary. You will have access to the store, items, breeding, etc., without participating in the ARPG.

this guide aims to help with understanding the genetic string that is provided for your Draquin Draft and helps with seeing how the genetics influence the designs. Draquins primarily follow horse genetics, however, they have additional genes specific to the species to allow for more variation and color range. Unnatural colors are possible through the interaction of the CYMK genes and the traditional base genes. Different genes also have different rarities, which are indicated in the information below.

Genetics are determined by a string of genes and pass based on traditional models of inheritance (recessive, dominant, incomplete dominance, co-dominant, etc.). Traits, however, are not tied to genetics and include physical add-ons like horns, mane styles, scales, and feathers. These pass based on % chance based on rarity.

C - Common [ Standard ]
UC - Uncommon [ Not usually seen, maybe 20-40% of the population ]
R - Rare [ Difficult to find, under 20% ]
E - Exotic [ Extremely rare, limited, under 5% ]

Rarity does not influence breed pass chances at this time. Breed chances of any gene follow the punnet square.

Chimera - E - separate distinct coats. Draquin with this mutation will have multiple genetic strings for each coat. Rolls in breedings at a 10% chance.

Brindle - UC - n/Br - fine striping, typically darker than the base.

Somatic - R - n/Sm - 'interrupted' patches of color on a Draquin where the modifiers don't apply.

Harlequin - E - n/Hq - Merle like splotches covering the entire Draquin, darker than the base.

Striped - UC - n/Str - striped markings darker than the base. May be any style of natural striping.

Mottled - UC - n/Mt - spots of any kind darker than the base. May be any style of natural spotting.

Syrup - R - n/Sy drippy markings down the back and neck of a Draquin. Usually has a gradient, darker than the base.

Inverse - E - n/Iv - Inverts the effect of any applied marking. For example, if a marking typically is darker than the base color, the marking will now be lighter than the base.
