As I rose from the debris,
I noticed that I seemed to be
the only one stirring. Where
had everyone gone? Even the
large gold statue of our ruler,
Persephone, lay fallen. That
was when everything clicked
into perspective. That was it-
she sought revenge, and she
had found found it.
Our entire town was blanketed
by layers of ash and fallen
buildings. There was nothing
to rebuild- our race had been
compromised. With a slight limp,
I began to walk toward the
center of the city. This was where
we typically had our daily briefing
and any other meetings so if I
were to get any information,
I knew it would be here.
To my dismay, I stumbled
upon yet another indiscernible
mass of architecture. The pillars
that once seemed indestructible
lay in pieces before me.
Persephone built this town
herself... How could she
possibly destroy it?
I wanted to question it all,
and I wanted to not know,
but I wasn't stupid.
I knew that despite my
willingness to remain ignorant,
this city broke because of me.
All because I, a mere civilian,
traveled beyond our realm.
It began two days before
the city fell. I was nearing
the outskirts of our boundaries
when I noticed it- the slightest
hole in what seemed to be the
horizon. Throwing caution to the
wind, I approached the rip and
it began to expand before me.
Though I was uninformed at
the time, I now know that this
was a literal tear in the
space-time continuum.
It was two days before I was
forever banished due to my
curiosity, which ultimately
led to me traveling through
foreign dimensions.
Our goddess has since
banned me permanently,
cast the spell of a siren on me,
and confined me to a planet called Earth.

To put it in the simplest of terms,
her name is very fitting.
Too fitting, almost.
By definition, a siren
is one of several sea
nymphs, part woman
and part bird.
The creatures lure
mariners to destruction
by their seductive singing,
and sometimes like to
feast on their bodies.
Though I am sad to say,
Siren does just that.
Only a few miles away
from the abandoned
lighthouse she calls
home sits a rock that
just-so-happens to
be directly in the
middle of a cargo
route. By belting
out just a few notes,
the young Viscet can
distract the crew long
enough to get their
attention and mercilessly
lead them to their
untimely demise. For
your sake, I’ll spare
the gruesome details.
After this, she will
take what's left of their
remains and travel to
another dimension to
store them for safe
keeping. So far, she
has only managed to
be caught by the pesky
Viscet by the name of Bodhie,
so she’d consider this a
secret hobby, of sorts.
She asks that you tell no one about this,
please and thank you.
The only way to break
this devastating curse
is, cliche enough,
true love's first kiss,
which is nearly impossible.
