Owner Name:
~Bast~

Name:
Kai
I chose this name because Sir Kai is a knight-warrior in one of my favorite Arthurian legends. However, when I did a bit of research, I found out it has meanings in many other languages as well:
In Burmese, Kai means "strong", or "unbreakable"
In Mandarin, "凱", means "victory" or "triumphant"
In North Germanic languages, Kai means "keeper of the keys; earth"
I felt like all the meanings fit his personality so that made me smile because it really is one of my favorite names =D

"Thanks so much Thorn," I say as I plop into a comfy chair in the cottage's cozy front room. "But I didn't find the egg exactly..."

~~~
Aludra was restless, and desperately in need for some time alone- she was tired of the milling people of the small village that she, Bast, and Serca were currently staying in while Bast and Serca tracked down stories of rare eggs. What Aludra really yearned for was a race through the woods in her natural, powerful, dragon form. But the hordes of people in and around the town prevented her from shifting back; being seen by a hunter could potentially blow her cover. So instead of downy blue fur, Aludra donned some old green shorts, a yellow cami, and Bast's favorite green jacket. She didn't bother with shoes, because at the very least she could feel the earth between her toes. Then, frustrated and annoyed, she took off at a run for the woods.
As the shade of the trees closed over her head, Aludra sped up. Her heart was pulling her towards the center of the forest, and a sense of urgency replaced her restlessness. Long, quick strides whisked her over thin game trails towards the center of her fixation. The whispers of a command blew through her mind, and trees flew past her. Her feet beat against the ground, faster, faster- she was close now. OWWWWwwww... Aludra lay on the ground, panting as flaring pain burned up her leg with each heartbeat. A tangled root arched over her left ankle, innocent in it's stillness. Angry at the plant for tripping her, Aludra reached out a finger, intending to shrivel it to dust.
Don't. a young but confident voice ordered her. Aludra stopped and looked around her in search of the rune that had spoken. It was no ancient- she would have known they were present- but the feeling was stronger than the usual rune.
Show yourself little rune. Who orders the Ancient of Spring?
Lady Spring? You heard my call?
The restless drive to find you? The push to leave the village? Yes, child, I heard you. They are not feelings I am accustomed to. Aludra answered him.
And do you know me now, M'lady?
Aludra reached into a hidden hole underneath the root that had tripped her and withdrew a large green egg, swaddled in two belts.
Yes, I know you now. You share my realm, you love the earth and all it's life. You feel the metals in it's grasp as I do, and it calls to you to shape it. In the earth's name, you are a protector and a warrior. You have a vibrance inside you that urges you to live, to escape the inky blackness that is your cell inside that egg. To reach your full strength, to feel the wind under your wings and the earth beneath your feet. And to wear those belt that belong only to you. But you have a problem, do you not?
Yes. I cannot hatch until I find the one I'm meant to live for, fight for, die for. I thought that you were that person in your human guise. But my Lady Spring is not the person I search for from my hiding spot here.
Aludra cuddled the egg to her chest and said, I might know the person you want.
~~~

"And then Aludra limped into the tavern, interrupted my conversation with the bartender, and said, 'I have the best lead on rune eggs you will ever find Love.' So I politely thanked the bartender, paid my tab, and followed Aludra back to our room at the inn. I asked her,
"So Aludra, what's here that's a better lead than people who've lived in these woods all their lives?" With a mischievious grin, Aludra pulled a green, glowing egg wrapped in two belts from behind her back.
"The actual dragon you are searching for?" she laughed. "And he has been searching for you too."
"And that's how I came to be in his possession" I told Thorn, "But he has yet to hatch..." Inside his egg, I could feel Kai's contentness as he slept.
"I think he might need some help from you to officially choose who he needs to be his partner... although of course Aludra and I are hoping and praying it's us."
And biting my lip, I held the green egg out to her.

Aludra cuddling Kai while Serca is mesmerized. I thought it would be a cute, intimate picture, and if I am the lucky person, it will be a picture of all of my runies together <3

Poem:

I know the qualities hid inside,
that little shell where you reside.

I feel your strength,
still yet to come.
Your love for life,
your bright green thumb.

I know you know, I'd be your guide,
and travel always by your side.

We'd be the duo
no one could slay.
And we would always
win the day.

With all you need I would provide,
And as you grow, so would my pride.

Serca could teach
the warrior's way
from her stories
that she would say

Bast would teach
a level head
how to stand your ground
when you'd rather fled.

And I would hold you closer still,
And show you Earth's inner thrill.

The ring of steel
beneath your hammer
It's finished shine
brighter than a faerie's glamour.

And feel the Earth,
she calls to you
I know that urge,
It calls me too.

Please hatch for me, you unborn warrior,
I will be your earthly courtier.

I tried to do a pixel animation... but I kinda failed. I do think it's still cute though ^^

There are many things in this world that no one knows of yet, and there always will be. That never discouraged me from trying to find as many as a could. I am a bit of an adventurer... or a lot of an adventurer. I pride myself on finding new places, and maybe; just maybe, I will find something worth my effort. Sure I find little treasures here and there, but nothing that has really made my adventures feel worth while. After a while of contemplating where I should go next, I decided I should try to climb Mt. Kilgharrah, the local mountain, which has quite an altitude. It is summer, so the mountain will be at it's warmest... which is still a chilling 15°F (or -9.4°C). I'm not sure what I may find up there, but I figure it's worth a look. Most of my friends (who are adventurers like myself) have rune dragons to accompany them by their side. I, unfortunately, have not found the right companion. Of all the treasures I could find, that would be the most valuable to me.

I decided to head out in the morning, giving me time to walk there in the cool of the dawn, and climb the mountain in the warm of the day. I packed some supplies, and headed off. The path to the mountain is quite rugged, and the mountain itself is even more so, yet I couldn't wait to explore it's secrets. Something felt different about this place, like I may find something worth while after all. After wandering in the snow for some time, I noticed a small trail of blood, that lead to a big.. pool of blood. Me, being so in touch with nature, always feel for the pour soul who was taken, but I know that is how it must be. There was a cave quite close to me, and I figured it would make a good resting place for the night.

Inside the cave was quite amazing. The stalactites were glistening from the water streaming down them. But there was a small hole in the roof of the cave, that let in a stream of light. And just where the light touched the rocks, there was what appeared to be a green glistening rock of some sort. But when came closer to investigate, I realized what I had found; a rune dragon egg.I have finally found my treasure; a rune dragon to call my own. He must have be very cold with no mother to keep him warm. I assume the blood outside was from his poor mother who's hiding place had been found. But he had not been found; this strange egg of Kilgharrah.

"And that's how I found him" I said to Thorn. "Ahh, yes. That is quite strange. I wonder why it is that he didn't become cold on that mountain?" He replied. "I'm not sure" I said. "But I do know one thing." "And what is that?" he asked. "This guy is special, and he was meant to be my companion." "Yes, his aura is very strong when you hold him. He is your destiny. You should give him a name." "Hmm" I muttered, "How about Kilgharrah?" "I think that name fits him" he gleamed. "I do have another question" I continued, "How do I take care of an egg?"

So excited that this one is metal/earth based!!!!

Owner Name:
37down
Name:
Tektite or Tek for short

Why? Because TEKTITE IS THE MYSTERY ROCK !(well actually they are technically glass...) The little card that came with my own sample of tektite explains it nicely: "Tektites are naturally occurring objects which have not been satisfactorily explained by scientists. Theories speculate that tektites have an extraterrestrial origin from the Moon or the effects of large meteorites hitting the Earth."
Plus I got my own little tektite chunk from my favorite store; a little rock shop in Florida that we visit every time we vacation there, so tektites kinda hold a special place in my heart.
Furthermore: Tektite. Now does that sound like the name of a guy you want to be messing with? ... Yeah, didn't think so.

Gender:

Decided to re-write my story entirely, the old one didn't quite fit with the name.
If for some reason you want to read that story you can click the picture link below.

Image
Its not everyday a meteorite almost lands on top of you. Alright, it didn't actually almost land on me, but hey, if you saw a giant glowing mass of metal pass so close above you that you felt the wind coming off of it, you'd say the same thing. As it was for several seconds afterwards I stood stock still, mouth agap, staring at the red sunset-streaked sky above me, amazed I was still alive. My paralysis was quickly interupted by the simultaneous barrage of sound and earth-moving vibration created by the meteorite as it slammed into the earth only a few kilometers away. And let me tell you, when the ground starts to move beneath you, it doesn't matter what kind of amazing thing happened a few secounds before: you forget everything except the instinct to run for your life. And that i just what I did: I ran back to my house, yanked the door open, and practically threw myself inside.

But by the time I'd done that, it was all over; the impact had only rattled the ground for a second. I was walking back outside when it finally dawned on me: A meteorite just landed close enough to my house for me to go find it! For somebody like me who's been collecting rocks since they were four, the chance to find your own meteorite was a dream come true. Suddenly I felt like the rock was calling out to me...and I was going to find it no matter what it took. One hour and a good deal of sweat later, I'd arrived at the site.

I was in utter awe, sure the meteorite had broken up into several chunks on impact, but it was obvious the thing had been massive. Not massive like dinosaur-killing massive, but compared to the average dust-sized meteorites, this was pretty darn big! In the failing light I scrambled about trying to collect all the fist sized chunks of space rock before it became too dark to continue. That was when the outline large round rock off to the side caught my attention. My breath caught in my throat; could it be that such a large piece made it through the impact intact?!

I walked over slowly, as if in a dream, and sank to my knees before it, but instantly I could see that I had been wrong. It was too smooth and too green to be a meteor, not to mention it had a few belts strapped to it. I frowned, surely it couldn't have come from the meteorite: after all it was wrapped in belts... but if it had been here before the meteorite it should have been covered in a lot more debris. I carefully picked up my mystery rock and sucked in a sharp breath as I discerned what it was. "Well you're no rock... but you definitely are a mystery..." As I walked home with the large egg cradled in my arms I wondered if it was the meteorite that had been calling to me, or if the egg had been calling to me through the meteorite.

I just thought this little name matched him since he seems just by the look of his egg, like a strong rune dragon with powerful abilities and mysteries, so Athenan just seems like a mystery name to me.

Story of the egg.
Image
I walked outside with Zeuis, today I was studying what an Earth Rune Dragon would do if it plays with the dirt. It was kinda interesting for me since I never really let Zeuis play around outside so I decided it was time.Zeuis instantly dug into the dirt once I set him down. I sat down right next to him shielding the dirt with my arm. I could surely tell that Zeuis was an expert digger since he dug super fast.I looked at Zeuis's hole and realized the dirt had stopped meaning he had stopped digging. Zeuis then popped up and started digging around the holes sides making it a bigger hole. Zeuis then stopped rubbing off dirt of a round object. I wiped off the extra dirt and picked the object up carefully glancing at Zeuis who's head was tilted curiously as he made small hop movements closer and backwards as if he knew what it was, and investigating it.I took the egg inside, Zeuis following close behind me and came into my cottage again leaving the door open behind me and fast walking towards the sink. I washed off al of the dirt and found some what of a collar on it and a tattoo of what looked like a rune. I then realized what it was, of course! It was a Rune Dragon egg. But who owns it? I set the egg down and went back outside back to the dirt pile and looked for any signs of a Rune Dragon but I couldn't seem to find any. I went back inside and grabbed my research book and picked up the egg from the sink and went outside, this time Zeuis following me out, it was almost like he was attached to the whole thing. I started sketching out the egg and it's small collar on it rubbing on it, it was like pure leather, or something like that, the collar was probably sure expensive if someone were to buy it, but of course it was the Rune Dragons.I decided I should name the egg since no one seemed to claim it. I set it down for Zeuis to guard as I went inside and grabbed a piece of thick wood square and a carving knife. I started carving a name into it.I finally finished and carved in a neat uppercase name that read: Athenan. I carved the wood into a a oval and carved a small hole with the knife then it was finished. I got up once again and went inside and grabbed a piece of metal wire and took out some tools to use for the twisting. I went back out and curved the metal through the wooden name wood piece and linked it and tied it with the strong tools. I then cut a tiny hole on the edge of the collar and linked the metal wire through the hole. A neat name hung down saying Athenan. I smiled and examined the egg closely, I knew it would be fun to study the egg.

Later on that day at lunch time, I was still studying the egg, I was wondering if it would look like a normal Rune Dragon. I bit out of my turkey sandwich onto my plate and studied the egg more closely. I picked up my sandwich again and realized Zeuis had stolen the turkey, of course, I called for that one with my little studies, I guess Zeuis was just smart enough to know that so it was his win this time, but I'd get him back good time. I picked up the egg and my studies book and threw the bread at him, it was his nows since he took the meat, I'm sure it would be a full sandwich in his stomach at least.I got my pen and carry sash bag and put it on around my neck and set the egg inside the second pocket in my bag and put the research and pen in the other pocket. Zeuis hurried and ate the bread and scurried into the bag to guard the egg since it seemed so precious to him. I closed the bag after since I knew there was poked holes in the side so he could breath. I walked outside and got on my Brown spotted Pinto horse named, Leon. I road on him down towards the small town in the lower part of the hillside. I followed down the dirt path lined with stones, this path was made for walkers and horse riders, and some bikers, I could remember back when I was running down this hill, and when Leon was a little baby horse running around. I speeded up Leon as we road down the path. I came towards the snack bar and walked inside leaving Leon tied up at the side of the snack bar. I came inside and looked around. I grabbed a few water bottles and some apples and came to the cash register, I almost swore I saw a Rune Dragon but that wasn't my plan to do right now. I grabbed a few napkins for safe keeping and paid the cashier and walked out after he gave me my change. I quickly put the wood in my bag and walked outside. I untied Leon from the metal bar and hopped on and pat Leon's neck and he started trotting. We went down towards the fabric shop and I grabbed a peacock green cape and paid the women. I put the cape on and road Leon back up the hillside but not back the the cottage. We passed the cottage and kept going till we stopped at the top of the hill and got off of Leon's back. I used my hands and dug a small hole in the grass and dirty ground and created a soft dirt bed. I grabbed one of the water bottles and poured a tiny bit of water in after I opened the cap and started swirling the water with my hand. I placed the egg inside the swirling water and reached into the water and felt next to the egg, I could feel a slight movement coming from inside the egg but quickly lifted the egg out and felt it's shell. A Rune Dragon was surely in there, and in about a week, it would hatch from the movement in it. I covered up the ground with the pile of dirt I dug up and dried out all the water. I smiled at the feeling of it's movement, it felt so live like, so refreshing, so soothing, like a calm slumber. I got back on Leon and road down back to the cottage.

I dried the egg off from the muddy water around it but right while I was holding it the water around it seemed to be becoming pure instead of muddy like the eggs power was slowly purifying it from all the dirt and muddy stuff around it. I stared to get excited and washed off the mud left in the sink and dried it off with a towel. I got a small dish and poured some water in it and settled the egg down in it and set it on the table. I lifted the egg after a few minutes of time and the water was fully pure. I was amazed by the magical power and set him back in the water. I went and grabbed a soft towel and set it on the egg to keep it warm and got out my research book. I started writing in neat cursive about my discovery that read: I found out that Rune Dragons are able to lay eggs according to me finding one this morning in the dirt, I found this a amazing discovery to the Rune Dragon species, I decided to keep it as my own since there was no signs of any Rune Dragon being there with it, or even looking for it. It's rune seems to be almost like a painting onto the green shell but I can tell it was created naturally, it seems to look to me of a pure looking rune or dirt or grass type of some kind. Later around Lunch time I had put it in muddy water then took it home, and to my surprise, most of the water was purified right before my eyes while I was simply holding it, once again I put some water in a dish and set it in the water, and again to my surprise the water was pure, I found this simply amazing and I wonder what other powers it might posses.

Later that night I had set the egg on my bedside table to watch before I fell asleep. I curled up under my cover and watched the egg carefully, as I watched, slight little balls started lighting up like fireflies but instead they flashed like stars instead of zooming around like a firefly would until their light dies down. I reached over and touched one and tried to pick it up and to my surprise I was able to hold it. Zeuis looked at me and came over to try but he simply couldn't hold one. At that second I felt a connection between me and the rune, a slight pulsing beat connected both of our hearts and I could simply feel his strength being half pushed into my body as if we now both shared the same strength and bravery. I felt the warm of his pulse on my arm seeping through into my veins to my heart, it was a wonderful feeling I almost couldn't bare at all, and also relaxing as well it was so soothing I almost fell asleep to the beautiful feeling it was giving me, I couldn't have asked for a better feeling before I went to bed.I then opened my eyes and saw the bright yellow light I was holding seemed to be sinking into my arm, at first I was alarmed but then I soothed and let it. I then put my hand back in once the light disappeared and knew this was a rare sight to see. I looked at the egg in wonder as it seemed to make the small tiny voice in my head speak like a calling to me. I closed my eyes and began to dream as the eggs lights seemed to fade as I fell asleep. I was in a dark place and I wondered why it was so dark till I realized I was dreaming I saw a faded Rune Dragon whirling around me with a brave an d happy spirit as it examined me with it's playful rubs of it's head and tail. I stood still not wanting to alarm the Rune dragon for I knew that was not polite, and of course could cause dangerous things if a, well any rune was alarmed with such a sudden movement. The Rune Dragon seemed to then disappear after awhile till I found myself awake looking at the Rune Dragon egg before my eyes and Zeuis curled up under the blanket at my toes. I checked the clock up at the wall and saw it was 8:03. I got out of bed and huffed up the blanket and went into the closet to change. I came out in my soft white shirt and brown jacket and torn knees jeans and with my cape rapped around my neck with the silver closer to keep it together. I walked over to the egg and picked it up from the dish and poured some more water in it, in the bathroom. I said the Rune dragon egg back down with the towel still on top of it and went into the kitchen to get something to eat. I grabbed a fresh Granny Smith apple, (My favorite) And took a bite out of it then took a knife and simply cut it, I cut two of the pieces with extra smaller cuts for Zeuis to eat to, for they were also his favorite as well as mine I went outside after I packed the egg and Zeuis in my bag. I road on Leon after I got ready and was gonna take the egg to Bena today to find out about. I was excited, I knew this egg was all mine. I finally arrived at the cottage and came in to Bena, "Hi Bena, yesterday I found this egg and I'm wondering if you could tell me about it"...

Poem
Small little egg,
burrowed safely in the ground,
how will you come out,
maybe safe and sound?

Small little egg,
what is your rune,
what is your collar for,
will you hatch soon?

Small little egg,
warmed by to sun,
who is your mother,
and where were you found?

Silverhart
Name:

Lóegaire

I couldn't think of a good name off the top of my head so I went to behindthename.com to look for a name. I tried searching through a few old names and different meanings, and then I decided to put in the 'warrior' to see if any of those names might fit. Lots of nice names, but the name Lóegaire kind of jumped out at me. It doesn't actually mean 'warrior' but it was the name of several Irish heroes and kings, most prominently a warrior in the Irish Ulster Cycle. According to behindthename.com it means 'calf herder'. Maybe not a name that would strike fear into the enemies' hearts, but warriors come in many different forms. I was curious, and looked up the character, because I couldn't ever recall reading about him. I discovered an interesting story. He contended for the champion's portion, but lost to Cúchulainn. Later he gave his life to save a poet, (died apparently from hitting his head on the lintel of a door). That's kind of how I think this Rune dragon will turn out, a brave, noble warrior who's maybe not the absolute best, but certainly one of a strong and true heart. Someone who'd risk his life for you without a second thought. Someone who comes in second place most times, but figures that's better then coming in third. He's probably a bit reckless as well, I imagine.
That's a long explanation for a name, but I thought the story was so interesting and wanted to share the reason why I decided on that name. Plus, it's an awesome name!

I apologize, dear Journal for the slovenly nature of this particular entry. I am at the moment riding down a lonely forest trail on the back of an old pack horse. Though it is but late afternoon, the tree branches clutch each other in such embraces that the only light that can reach us is twilight. I must write quickly, before the fading light steal away my words, and memories. It started when I rescued an old beggar from a gang of hoodlums in a back alley this morning. I will be honest; my first instinct was to look the other way. After all, there was little I could do; no one would blame me for walking away. But the harassing of the poor old man got to me. It helped my confidence having my large Deep Sea Rune Mariana with me, and she quickly scared off the gang of hooligans. The old man – the bearer of a small Rune himself, most graciously thanked me. He said I had the heart of a warrior. For some reason, his words struck a chord in me, and I listened as he told me of a magnificent secret he had been guarding for many long years. He asked me to find it, whatever 'it' was, and keep it safe. My curiosity was alighted. Well, how could I say no?

~ * ~

Maybe he was just a daft old man, after all. I took the 'map' he gave me – which was a curious carved stone, and followed his instructions, taking the least traveled trail in the forest. Now the real twilight is coming on, along with a light rain that seeps into the skin and chills the bones. The darkness is deepening and I still quake with fear over the latest events. For you see, as a child I was terrified of the dark – I don't think anyone ever really grows out of that fear completely – but I, especially, was prone to the fearful tricks one's mind can play in the dark. I started at the snap of twig and looked sharply to my left as a ghostly shape passed out of view. How I long to leave these tenebrous woods for the open fields, or the sea – some familiar and friendly landscape with an open, honest face – when I recall how the pack horse's muscles shivered beneath me, and the view of the countryside twisted before my eyes as the creature reared in a panic over some unseen thing, and I felt I would cry in terror, and only wished for the horse to turn 'round, and run back home with me. But – then Mariana wrapped a wing around my shoulder, and Eidolon, my little Kelpie Rune gave me a reassuring nuzzle – the first unselfish act I have witnessed of him. Though my fear of the unknown still grips me, I encourage my horse onward. I do not know entirely what drives me, only that I must carry onwards; ever onwards.

~ * ~

Oh, my dear Journal; I am afraid it is just the two of us now... The map led us to a cliff – the base of a mountain according to the old man's directions – and we began to climb. The ascent was treacherous, especially for my two Runes who are better suited to stalking watery depths, then scaling rocky heights. It pained me to see them struggle, however I was determined to see this through. I would not give up, but I would also not see them suffer on my account. With a heavy heart, I have left them to wait for me further down the mountain. How they protested, refusing to even consider letting me go on alone! I feel awful for leaving them, but I must, and withouth them I am making good time. I hurry to finish this entry, for the light is fading fast ad my fingers grow numb with cold. I must journey on of course. My burning desire to desire to discover this secret, and my obligation to protect it driv me forward. I know I an not very strong without my friends, but the old man's words ring within me – in my soul I know they are true. That I am needed for something.

~ * ~

Dear Journal, I must relate the final chapter of my story to you, as I am sure you are anxious to know the conclusion. At the top of the mountain was a cave , as the old man had foretold. Taking a deep breath I plunged into it's sepulchral depths, and felt my way along the dark passageway, marveling as the cold rock beneath my fingertips began to take on a warmth. I was anxious and fearful, and a loneliness pressed down on me with such heaviness I had not known in years; but just as I was losing heart the tunnel opened up and my vision was restored by a glittering, phantom light. Veins of silver, copper, and gold were shot through the walls of this cavern, their metallic hues dancing off the faces of a hundred crystals from which the mysterious light seemed to emanate. At the center of this cavern stood an old suit of armor, which had lifted its head when I entered. “Brave soul,” it addressed me, “you are trespassing here. Turn back, or face me in single combat.” I stared at him for a heartbeat – I knew I was supposed to be here, I felt it, and I would not turn back. “Very well,” the knight intoned, drawing his broadsword, “I challenge you.” I quickly cast about for a weapon or shield of some sort, but found none, save for the sword in the knight's hands. I knew I had no hope of winning, but I also knew I couldn't back down. As I bowed my head and accepted, well knowing the consequences, a thunderclap filled my ears, and when I looked up again the suit of armor had transformed into the old man and his little Rune. “And thus you have proven yourself,” he recited in the knight's voice, the tone reverberating around the cavern. “In Righteousness, when you defended an old man from evil, though it would bring you no good. In Courage, when you continued your journey, despite your fears. In Determination, when you pressed on without the support of your friends. And finally in Honor when, faced with an impossible task, you would accept it without question.” My heart swelled with pride at these words, and I realized he was right, and that I had been doubting myself this whole time. “Now claim your reward, Warrior: the guardianship of this most precious treasure.” I gasped as he stepped aside, revealing a nest of crystal and melted metal, and sitting at it's heart – a glowing green dragon egg quivering in it's bonds...

Quick sketch to go with my story. I found time to color it!

Original Sketch here!

I know this picture doesn't actually feature the subject in question. I was going for something more unique. ^^ My story isn't about the egg, it's about the journey to find it, and it is a mystery egg after all. Besides, the egg by itself is not very interesting to look at. I've always loved how, beautiful as the art is, the Rune Dragons are also about the stories. I feel like I'm embarking on a new journey every time I start a new entry for a Rune. And I guess that's what I'm trying to convey with this piece.

Thanks again Bena, for everything you do! The mystery eggs are so much fun, and I'm happy to have the chance to try for one! If I win this special Rune I will take good care of him, and Mariana and Eidolon and I will raise him to be a strong warrior. I had fun writing this, as I inevitably have fun working on all Rune Dragon forms, and would love to have the opportunity to own, write about, and draw this dragon as he grows. (And yes, side note, I really did have an extreme fear of the dark as a child, and still have a fear of the 'unknown') Otherwise, I would like to wish everyone else competing good luck.

A thick fat raind drop plopped lightly onto my Rune Dragon Gypsy's head. She shook her feathers. Pulling the hood tighter over my head, I wrestled the trail map out of my pocket and starred at it hard. Just my luck, the ink on the map had run all across my map making it worthless. Annoyed, I quickly stuffed into my pocket and before I could ask what Gypsy thought she made a shrugging motion. Obviously she didn't know where we were. The two of us made our way to a damp, wet log, using it as a seat. What else were we going to do? In this fog, we couldn't see a thing, the rain wasn't helping either. Gypsy twirled out her little flute and blew on it softly, a soft quiet melody rang out clearly in the mist. I sighed. Even Gypsy's music wasn't lifting my spirits, which was odd. They always did.

Calem
(Latin for sky)

I was stuck on the name for a while, I even considered Amber since the orange dots around it lOok a bit like amber. But I think Calem I more fitting. Plus it matches my story better.

It had seemed like a perfectly good idea to sail my airship out to the floating rocks. Not dangerouse at all, right? Oh how wrong I was. It started of fine, clear sky, beutiful view, no Ryku ( pesky rock gaurdian ), well it all went down hill from there. First, the heavens released themselves and sent down possibly the worst storm I have ever been in. Then, the floating rocks, became floating no more, all at once they came crashing down from the sky. And finally, as if on cue, Ryku just happened to show up and tear a huge gaping hole in my airship.

Wonderful...
