“So… You know how to write?” Ada asked, looking at Edgar in surprise.

“I don’t know why you’re surprised, you know how too.”

“No. I know how to read, and I know how to do simple addition and subtraction, not writing. That’s a step further, it’s MUCH more difficult. How do you do it?”

Edgar laughed and took out a metal piece that he placed on his paw. “Does your human happen to have feather pens?”

Ada nodded and handed him a box in which her human kept the quill, spare quill nibs, and inkwell. "He doesn't use it anymore; he only write on a computer now."

Edgar nodded, took the widest of the quill nibs, and placed it on the metal piece on his paw, as if it were the claw of his index finger. Then he took some paper, opened the inkwell, and began to write using the false claw, a hybrid of writing with a quill and finger painting. And his calligraphy was excellent. Ada watched him with her mouth open.

“I love broad nibs, although thinner is better for long text and details in drawings. Broad nibs create much prettier, more elegant letters,” he explained.

"Have you tried glass pens?"

"No, they don't fit my device well," he said as he continued writing. He wrote his own name, Ada's name, and her human's name. She was amazed; his handwriting was very pretty specially for a cat.

“Teach me! Teach me how to write.”

“Okay… but you better start with this…” he replied, handing her a red crayon. Ada didn’t know whether to laugh or punch him.
