Cider Heart let out a relieved sigh after being startled by the chocolate tortie. "I didn't even smell you! Of course, we will help you Furzetuft. Where did you last see them?" she meowed. Cider took a deep breath and willed the hairs along her spine to lay back down, trying to calm herself from Furzetufts sudden appearance.

Gray Cloud looked between his mentor and this new arrival, he's never been told about cats roaming this forest before. At least not friendly ones. But Cider Heart looked relaxed and was quick to help, and Furzetuft looked friendly enough. Gray Cloud nodded his head at his mentors' acceptance, more than willing to help in this new quest.

Furzetuft watched as the cats in front of her bickered, eyes wide and almost perfectly circular, innocence plastered across her face as if trying her best to seem as harmless as she was. Even when Dark ‘ snow protested, she didn’t even flinch, staring at the patrol before giving a purr full of warmth towards Sage ‘ fire when the high priest offered her the sprites.

With a dip of her head, the she-cat gave the whole patrol a grateful look. “Thank you. I promise your gift does not come without payment.” She revealed, nudging forward a small, glowing item that seemed to appear from nowhere. “Good luck on your travels,” were her final words, before she turned and disappeared into the unknown.

Once the calico had disappeared, Dark ‘ snow scoffed, obviously still wounded by being cut off by the high priest. Despite his indignation, he didn’t say anything, not wanting to break the peace between him and his best friend, simply moving forward to sniff at where the unfamiliar molly had once been, hoping to recognize her scent in case she took their kindness for weakness. His ears perked when he noticed the sweet smell of herbs instead, pushing aside some grass to discover a single stem of sorrel, as if it had fallen from the gracious cat herself.

“Come on, can we keep going?” Fawn grumbled, pushing past the patrol to take the lead himself, although Sage ‘ fire didn’t seem to protest. Heat radiated off of their pelt in annoyance, but they knew the reasoning behind the novitiate’s actions, so he let it slide for now.

By the time the group had caught up to the younger cat, he was standing in front of a large clump of bushes, practically sparkling with the abundance of fruit among the leaves. Without even speaking, Northern ‘ fever and Sheep ‘ whisker moved forward to help Fawn pluck them, gingerly setting them into their respective bags.

It was almost a moment of tranquility before they could hear the river lapping against the banks in more intense waves than before, everyone turning towards Dark ‘ snow, who’s pelt had started bristling in alarm. Almost wordlessly, he caught the gaze of Sage ‘ fire, tilting his head towards a gap in the brush. The high priest’s ears pulled back in concern at the sight of the large beast trudging through their territory, teeth glinting and dangerous.

Scrunch continued along her patrol, enjoying the feeling of the sun along her pelt, listening to the serene sounds of the wildlife around her, only broken into sometimes by the caw of her friend, guiding her in a way no one would ever understand. It was a perfect day, one that would be extremely hard to break down into a bad one, and she was content with that.

Her crow brushed against her shoulder as he descended from the air, landing in front of her and letting out a loud caw. In response, the she-cat’s nose moved to the ground, ears perking in curiosity. At her feet were scraps, sweet-smelling yet pulled apart, probably leftovers from another animal’s kill, yet food all of the same. Moving her nose to the side, it touched against something round and cold, something that Scrunch could not yet decipher.

The black she-cat’s head whipped up at the sound of grass crunching near her, lowering to the ground in a protective stance as her crow flew to land on her shoulder blade, perching on her with a caw of warning.

“Oh, I’m so sorry.” A sweet voice hit her ears, pawsteps slowly as the newcomer, the unfamiliar stranger, moved closer, tentatively. Scrunch’s crow let out another caw that filled the silence between the new cat’s words, but it wasn’t one of fright this time. “I’m Furzetuft. I was looking for my friend. Have you happened to see them? They were just beside me, I swear.” She trailed off in a grumble.

Onyxdream shuddered, she’d never scented a dingo this close. She never enjoyed making decisions like these anyway, but now the stakes were the highest they’d ever been… Closing her mismatched eyes she felt around with her mind, searching… The frigid night’s air felt colder than ever before, not a single flicker of Opalflight’s presence… This hadn’t happened before… Opalflight was usually at least nearby…

Her starry white fur tainted orange under the red moon above, her heart raced in her chest as she ran with all her might. “Emberstorm!” Her voice was shaky and hoarse in fear. Her fiery amber eyes clawing away at her surroundings, searching for any sign of her starry partner. Darkness crept into the sky above her, smoky tendrils strangling the trees above. “Emberstorm! Where are you! We need to go!” Opalflight darted amongst the shrubs of the astral desert, closing her eyes and fleeing for her life… Her powerful legs carried her across the misty sands for what felt like an eternity. Her lungs grew tight, she wasn’t sure how much longer she could run… She glanced behind her hoping she’d made enough headway to rest…
Everything looked normal.
She froze in shock, “wh-” she stood there wide eyed and astonished, she strained her eyes to try to see if there was even a shadow of the evil she’d been outrunning, but the desert’s horizon looked normal. There was not even a hint of the darkness that had been threatening to capture her minutes earlier.
Still suspicious of the disappearing shadows, she began to continue in the direction she’d been running but now at a walk. She willed her path to Emberstorm, remembering that Starclan’s desert was an ever-changing non-euclidean landscape. She began to place one paw in front of the other…
Before long she could see her soulmates’ patched fur. “Emberstorm?”
“Hi Opalflight!” She purred, ” I was wondering where you went!” Emberstorm laughed to herself as she turned to see Opalflight’s weary expression. Emberstorm stopped in her tracks, concern flashing across her face “You look like you’ve seen a dingo! Who did this!” Her concern turned to anger as she pictured starclad dingoes chasing Opalflight down.
“Emberstorm…” her voice grew quiet, “darkness…” her voice only a whisper. “I- I don’t know… It was everywhere…”
Emberstorm could see the confusion hidden behind the fear in Opalflight’s eyes, uncertainty flickered over Emberstorm’s face, “Lets go home, Opalflight, we should check on the others…”

Onyxdream frowned, still hearing nothing but silence from Opalflight. She shifted her weight nervously, this hadn’t happened before… She hoped that Opalflight’s lack of response was a sign to also vacate the area, and do what they could to get as far from the dingo as possible.
“I think we should go back to camp,” hse hesitated, “we’ve had a good hunt, and perhaps we may gather more on the way home.” She tried her best to convince herself that she was making the right choice but she just wasn’t sure… “It doesn’t feel safe out here,” she whispered to herself

this place was… intriguing.
fathomed upon a voidplane, the frames of strange structures were lain upon the earth beneath his toes and the gentle wisp of petrichor still lingered in the delicately salted air with undertones of decay.

and there! scarlet and tottering upon the earth, the clatter of wandering footsteps crystallized upon the hush, multiplying in volume a dozen times fold before freezing before glitch.

it was like the aura of spring had caressed the skies and left the ample bloom of apricot, roses and dwindling golds upon every empty periwinkle corner. it was like an artist had come to blot plumes and wisps of ivory upon those same skies and breathed upon them to create a masterpiece.

it was like a dream come true.

“i-i can’t thank you enough.” a delicate contrast to the starry essence of furzetuft’s wavering gaze, sea blue eyes of furzetuft’s friend fluttered to misha’s and apricot’s. “i was taking a little walk with my dear furzetuft and we wanted to make a gift for you both.”

and flourishing and blooming in hues of lavender and jade green, a bouquet of budding spring flowers and dewy leaves kissed the fortress of reality along with the little spotted scarlet shell of a ladybug.

“here… i think your clan might need it.”

daffodil petals strung together by daylight was upon the freckle of sienna upon his curls and now fleetingsnow seemed almost… luminous. as if the midnight had caressed the angle of his features and made him an angel adorned with the morning and its softly lit radiance-

starclan- the cold cave floor must be getting to her.

the dainty wisp of petrichor laced itself in the dewy essence of the morning, with the strands of faintly jade greens crisscrossed beneath her toes as she wandered, the billowing pattern of familiar fronds softly calling from a little ways away.

and upon the billowing cluster of familiar fronds, frolicked twin mice gathered around a tiny berry. their lyrical chatters blooming as if it were all just a dream.

the earth was strange upon the delicate pads of her paws, oozing in hues of sienna and soaked decay as she wandered, flecks of ivory and dainty petals of white adorned with feathery fronds beckoning to her a little ways beyond.

the cadence of a delicately babbling stream, budding before blooming in the hush, with the billowing song of windchimes caressed by the aimlessly wandering zephrys.

it wasn’t long til the periwinkle of the stream drew her close.
and there, rosy and blushing in the blues of each ripple, a lotus wavered… enraptured by the fullness of the stream and radiant even as her crisis still burdened reality.

and somewhere, weaving up and around each rosy petal, twin critters weaved a constellation of silk upon the bobbing lotus. a constellation freckled with periwinkle droplets that had become too rowdy for the serenity of the babbling stream.

daffodil and sepia curls bouncing beneath the kiss of the softly billowing winds, those starry eyes were desperate, fluttering about as the trio search.

but there was something wrong… so, so wrong.
liquid roses unfurled upon the cobblestone earth, adorned with torn souls, ivory bone and the heart of a lonely alder tree. it was a crime scene… a massacre with a crumpled heap in the center.
