as a hunter, darting’trout has seen plenty of food in her life, so she thinks she’s fully qualified to state: the best prey in the territory are the ospreys. sure, those things tend to be some of the hardest prey to catch, especially as they often prey on the smaller kits in camp themselves. but, in the opinion of some hunters of the group, including darting’trout, that’s half of what makes them so great; it always tastes like victory to all of the members of the alliance when they get to eat an osprey, like a battle won. it usually also takes teamwork to take down, which the alliance values greatly, and there are quite a few stories from that came from various cats’ lives before the alliance regarding ospreys: how they and other larger birds have terrorized the skies for centuries, stealing off kits and sometimes even trainees and smaller adults. some go so far as to depict large birds, especially ospreys, as a representation of evil. it adds to the victory the alliance feels when they get to bring home an osprey.
