Kougra, Lily and Teddy sat at the table, waiting for the two groups to arrive home with their ingredients. But some were more impatient than others... specifically Kougra.

"I'm sooo bored... and sooo hungry..." Kougra whined, clutching her stomach and slouching over the table. "Can we go out on a ingredient adventure together?! Please please please?"

Teddy shifted in his seat. "Well, that'd be up to auntie Appletun, darlin'."

"Auuuntie!" Kougra shouted from across the room to the Appletun, who was busy in the kitchen. "Auntieee, what can we go and get? I'm bored..."

She walked out of the kitchen slowly, smiling warmly. "You're such a big help, dear. You could go get pumpkins-"

Kougra cut her off excitedly before she could finish. "Pumpkin pie is my favorite! Please please please, let us go get pumpkins?"

Auntie nodded happily. "Yes! I should have some in my garden..." She walked toward the kitchen window, looking out the blinds. "Oh dear..."

Kougra hopped off her chair and waddled into the kitchen. "What's wrong?"

"This isn't good... it seems that no-good Pokemon thief helped themselves to all my pumpkins too!" Auntie stomped on the ground, looking annoyed. "Hmm... if only you could track them down..."

"We'll do it!" exclaimed Kougra, jumping up on the counter. "I'll find those pumpkin thiefs no matter what!! And we'll make em pay!"

Lily padded up to the kitchen, looking down. "Are you sure...? It seems a little dangerous to go try and find someone like that..." She seemed to be shivering, and not because of the draft.

"It's fine! Teddy will be there. Right, Teddy?" She glanced at the plushie Gengar expectantly. He nodded in response, not opening his eyes.

"If... if you say so..." murmured Lily.

The three ventured out, Kougra leading triumphantly. "I wish I had a magnifying glass right now... oh, oh and a detective hat!"

They made their way to the backyard, with Kougra inspecting the area thoroughly. The area looked tarnished, with leaves and mud strewn everywhere. Lily sniffed at the ground, thinking.

"I don't smell any pumpkin juice, so they probably just pulled them out of the ground and ran off," informed Lily. "Any footprints?"

"Hmm..." Kougra squinted at the ground, looking determined. Suddenly, she noticed them; clear as day, a track of Pokemon footprints leading outside the askew wooden gate all the way to the forest. "There! We gotta follow them!"

She began to run over as fast as she could, only skidding to a halt when the dark forest lay in front of her. She gazed into the inky darkness as the other two caught up.

Kougra looked over at them, tugging on Teddy's arm. "Teddyyy... can you give me a piggyback ride? I'm... not scared... you can just see in the dark better!"

Teddy leaned down and let Kougra climb up on him, her arms wrapped snugly around his neck. "Alright, let's get goin'."

Though as they walked, Kougra began to feel sleepier and sleepier... even the scent of pumpkin couldn't stop her from slowly drifting off to sleep...

Kougra awoke under a warm blanket on Auntie's couch. "...Huh? What happened?" She rubbed her eyes, still feeling drowsy. She noticed big, plump pumpkins on the kitchen table. "Pumpkins..."

Teddy sat beside her. "You musta been plumb tuckered out, sweetness ... as soon as you climbed on me, you fell right asleep. I had Lily bring you home while I took care of those pumpkin thieves."

Kougra jolted up, suddenly alert. "Oh!! What happened? Did you tell them they were big meanies?"

"Yeah, what did happen?" Lily asked. "You made it home with all of Auntie's pumpkins, just like that. How'd you get them to cooperate?"

His eyes glimmered red as he reminicised. "Ah... that's a story for another day. let's just say they definitely won't be botherin' Auntie anymore."

Third ingredient down!

Ash and Amy were sent out to find some missing pumpkins. The thick trail of ripped-up soil made it pretty clear where it had been taken, and as they walked their paws got all muddy. After a while Ash stopped, smelling roasted pumpkin. Turns out the thieves stole the pumpkins to eat! THey had them roasting over a fire and eating them. After spending some time with them, the twins left with one large pumpkin with them.

That'll be a long story to explain to grandma, and yelling something like that would get them both as tired as the mission itself made them.

"Not to worry, detective Champ is on the case!" Exclaimed the rufflet as he saluted with one wing and quickly darted out the door. Chester the ducklett shook his head in amusement as his enthusiastic friend took off into the garden in search of clues.

"See here?" Champ questioned as Chester caught up to him, pointing at a corner of plants that looked a tad flattened, "this is clearly the work of our pumpkin thieves! See where they've torn our precious pumpkins right from the stem?!"
Chester sighed, looking at the plants his friend was pointing to. "Champ.. I don't think those are pumpkin plants. And pumpkins are way larger, I'm pretty sure those are just-"
"Nonsense! Detective Champ is never wrong! We just have to follow the trail of trampled plants into the forest right there!" Champ pointed, and Chester followed his gaze until he realized that there was, indeed, a trail of broken branches leading away from the garden fence.
"I.. I guess." Chester couldn't argue with that reasoning, it was their best lead.
"Let us go forth, my friend!" Champ spoke with exaggerated expression.
"Don't let the detective thing get to your head!" Chester poked him with a laugh as the friends set off along the trail.

"See here? This is a sign of a struggle! And over here is where the enemy juuust got it, and then they snatched it back and ran!! And over here is where-" Champ, who had been continously describing every little thing the duo found in their forest pursuit, finally paused and went quiet.
"What?" Chester exclaimed, but Champ shushed him.
"Look! Looklooklook!" The rufflet whispered loudly.
They peered into the trees where, in a spot of afternoon sunlight up ahead, was a small wild pokemon who appeared to be a kid younger than both Champ and Chester. The baby pokemon was playing with an array of items that looked like they may have come from the garden, some of them being pumpkins.
"Look, there's our pumpkins!" Champ whisper-shouted. "Let's go!"
He moved to run forward but Chester grabbed him by the feathers and pulled him back.
"No! No way, look how happy that kid is, we're not just stealing pumpkins from them!"
"But they stole the pumpkins first! What do you think we should do then?"
"Erm, ask nicely?"
"..Alright fine."

Perhaps it should be said that the kids returned back to Auntie's rather late that day with a few pumpkins on hand, having made a new friend in the form of a wild pokemon who was now off showing their parents how to carve pumpkins after being taught by two small bird pokemon.

Earl floated from villager to villager, trying to ignore the pit in his stomach. There wasn't any reason to have fear, Auntie was just an old woman who worried too much, surely there wouldn't be any issue getting the herb, right? The villagers were just being hesitant because they didn't like him, not because they were scared.

"Excuse me," he said to a Seviper curled against a shop. "Would you know where someone could get some Raticate Claw?"

The poison type perked up at the question. "Ahh, another cusssstomer? Pleassse, follow me," she said, dragging out her S's. Earl was suspicious, but followed the Seviper nonetheless. She led him to a run down flower shop with a greenhouse attached to the side. "Here we are, thisss shop hasss what you ssseek." With that, she slithered off.

Earl inhaled sharply before floating inside (there was no door, from the look of the hinges it had been torn off). A Cacturne looked up from a small desk in the center of the building, beyond him, there were rows and rows of plants. "What're you lookin' for?" the Cacturne questioned.

"Just need a bit of Raticate Claw, someone told me you sold it here," Earl replied, keeping his voice even. The Cacturne stood and began walking, and Earl followed close behind, nearly teleporting every time a carnivorous plant snapped at him.

At last, they entered a room in the back. There were no windows or doors, suspending the place in darkness. It was damp, sticky, and Earl got the distinct feeling of being watched. There were all sorts of roots and fungi growing directly from the floor, which was now dirt. "Raticate Claw is in that far corner," the Cacturne said, "The brown one. Be careful, everything here is rather delicate."

Earl nodded and floated over, spotting the root almost instantly. He grabbed a few, just enough for the pie, and floated back. "How much?" he asked.

"Oh, I should've mentioned this..." the grass type said, "In order to buy anything here, you have to fight." Shooting pain went through Earl's body, Sucker Punch, he realized. Several figures stepped forwards from the shadows, all charging up some attack.

Earl began to panic. He was strong, but there were easily nine opponents here. An idea struck him, and he curled into a ball, feeling himself glow bright pink. "What's he doing?" one figure asked, but before he could answer-

BANG!

Dazzling Gleam hit the room, knocking out most everyone. Before they got a chance to recover, Earl teleported like mad, until he was a safe distance from the shop. He looked down at the Raticate Claw clutched in his hand, and had one thought.

Not worth it.

indentThe large dual type pokemon took a deep breath searching for that hint of sweetness they'd detected leaving Auntie's cottage. There were supposed to be searching for an alcreamie to add something to a pie, they weren't entirely sure if the whole thing was even real but they would do their best. All they had to do was befriend or have a battle with one which wouldn't be difficult for as trained as they were. Actually seeing the pokemon they were supposed to fight made them pause, they were so tiny and despite aggraligatr's ferocious appearance they couldn't bring themself to attack the smaller mon. They tentatively called out to them so they'd have some form of warning before the massive pokemon was looming over them. The alcreamie turned around with a confused look on their face and stared up at the large crocodile like pokemon. There was a moment where neither of them moved and just looked at each other, until the tiny desert adjacent pokemon started screaming and panicking. The aggraligatr tried to comfort them but they soon had a wild amount of cream flung at them from the fleeing pokemon. A little sad they scared the pokemon, but not one to waste the opportunity, they gathered up what they could and made their way back to Auntie's.

Rylee arrived one day to Auntie Appletun's Cottage, upon hearing he only needed a scent to send it into the oven and finish the pie Auntie Appletun grew weary.

"Well-!" she quivered "I have no scents for today..!"

Rylee chuckled, was this some kind of joke? She had one of each ingredient every day.

"Auntie Appletun, respectfully, I know that to be false" he yapped

Auntie Apptun sighed, shaking her head as she spoke "Well.. It's in a dangerous place, not for the faint of heart, full of dark type pokemon."

Rylee knew exactly where she spoke of, his home town in fact.

He left for his town, exactly 45 minutes out.

When he came there he was met with a familiar face, the snake which had robbed him years before.

It was difficult avoiding him, but Rylee was used to it and eventually got his spice.

He clutched it close in his arms fearful of loosing it, but he left a crudly made drawing from Soot that he got a week ago in the back pocket of a bag he took.

Needless to say he lost that drawing, he later saw a replica being sold for a couple bucks in a store.

He never returned. He made his pie and asked Soot if he was mad he lost the drawing.

Flavour (pumpkin) - Griffin - 278 words

This evening, the air in the garden carries a slight chill; just enough to nip, like the first whisper of winter is peering over the horizon to snatch away the dying sun. But the cold does not touch Griffin, and Griffin wouldn't care if it did, because in a freshly dug mound of dirt he finds the clue he has been scouting for. Thick, heavy drag marks in the soil betray the direction of the thief's retreat, and he presses his nose to the ground and sniffs like he has seen those police dogs do but all he gets is a nose full of... huh. A nose full of stuffing. He looks to the treeline and squints, then slowly begins to follow the trail through the flattened thickets.

It doesn't take long to find his prize, a thick pumpkin in a small clearing blocking the entrance to a hollowed-out fallen tree. He approaches and reaches out to roll it back towards himself, but before he can take it far it feels like he is hit by a thousand tonnes, and he rolls away backwards, spine striking tree, hissing. He leaps back up and the fire around his neck burns bright, so bright, a wildfire ready to be born, but the overgrown Stufful barrelling in his direction is... torn, a little, at the side, so instead of attacking he flaps up with outstretched wings and falls back down when he hears the THWACK of the collision, pinning the beast to the ground with his weight. Griffin chitters, and reaches into his bag for a needle and some thread.

He takes the pumpkin back to Auntie Appletun with help.

Aroma (raticate claw) - Griffin - 193 words

Raticate Claw isn't easy to find, for one who has no clue where to look. Good job, then, that Griffin does. Spicy little thing, and dangerous, but his mother's favourite. It grows in dark, damp places, but not underground -- or at least he's never found any there. So what he is looking for is the thickest part of the local woods.

Far easier with an aerial view.

Griffin dives down, weaving delicately through the branches of the impenetrable trees and landing silently on the ground. Despite the prickling urge, he does not look over his shoulder or into the dark recesses of the woods. Instead, he strides forwards with purpose, and walks until he finds a patch of the plant, which he tears up with his mouth, puts whole in his bag to sever the root later. When he feels things brush against his side, he does not glance, and once he has a few of the sprouts with root still attached, he leaves the same way he came in. Unharmed.

Far easier when you are wearing earplugs and can't hear what the things that grow around Raticate's Claw are saying.
