Buttermilk: Takara
Prompt: A gardener, Takara is not. She's very happy to help, but her enthusiasm could not disguise her inexperience. Within seconds, dirt becomes scattered over her workspace, with very, very little in the pot. She knew enough to bury rocks at the bottom of the pot to help it shed excess water, but seeds were a little beyond her knowledge, and if she hadn't set them in an empty pot off to the side for safekeeping, they probably would have ended up disappearing among the clumps of dirt and old root in the soil. Worms were important, too, right? Was she going to have to hunt for some to care for her seeds?

She loosely packed some dirt in the bottom of the pot, taking care to make sure the round stones were actually - finally - buried, sprinkled the seeds in, then buried the seeds like a little potted plant lasagna, and retrieved a watering can to hopefully not completely drown the whole thing. It wasn't perfect, but... it would do, and being the first time she'd ever planted seeds... she could be proud of it.

    Buttermilk:
    Prompt:
Abby is absolutely ecstatic to be able to help Sorrel out with the seed planting. She finds the process of planting each little seed into the soil a peaceful past time and loves to get to work on it. However, as much as she's interested in assisting Sorrel in these, Abby can't help but sit impatiently when waiting for the little seeds to grow. Each seed is put in with care and love and Abby loves being able to dig a little hole and drop them in. She's hoping Sorrel won't be asking her to watch them grow though- having to wait the couple days (-weeks?) for these little seeds to grow may as well equate for Abby to take a couple naps and hope for the best! She's not the greatest with patience (even if it were a virtue), but she'll still try her best, that's for sure. But maybe a little bit of watering would be good? [159 words]

    Buttermilk: Solene Boop
    Prompt:
The black cow quietly accepted the given supplies and moved off into the greenhouse to find what she thought would be a good spot. Somewhere quiet but easily accessable that wasn't too crowded by the other plants. Once she had located a nice fairly quiet place in terms of room, the dark coated cow set down her items. The pot was of a nice starting size for the seeds and she gently opened up the bag of soil, carefully tipping it into the pot. Before making a nice space in the dirt so she could gently place the seeds in.

Taking care to not go crazy with the amount of of seeds she actually put in, too many would cause overcrowding and wouldn't do. Not if she wanted nice healhty plants that is. After softly covering the newly planted seed with soil Solene located a nearby watering can and watered the soil until it was nice and damp. After all she didn't want to drown the poor sweeties

    Buttermilk: Bedelia
Prompt: Bedelia's eyebrows shoot up faster than you can say, "Good Golly!" The heifer takes a step back, not closing her hand around the seeds nor pulling her gaze from Sorrel's pleased face. Her mouth falls open the slightest bit, and she cringes as a seed falls from her flat hand to the floor, as if it might shatter like glass. Embarrassed, she quickly fixes her face, pulls in her hand, and snatches the seed off the ground.
"You... can do this for me, right?" Sorrel asks hesitantly, a little surprised by Bedelia's inability to comprehend the task.
"Oh yeah, of course, sure I can, mm-hmm," Bedelia responds, a little too hastily, trying to convince Sorrel just as much as herself. Although she had obviously never planted anything, she wasn't one to back down from a challenge or let down a friend. Also, she grew up on a farm, so she could probably figure it out... right?
"Wonderful!" Sorrel smiles. "Here's the pot, soil, and a watering can. Let me know if you need anything else," she adds, before walking off.
"Yeah... wonderful," Bedelia mutters to herself, kneeling down with the materials. "Well, let's see... soil first? No, that can't be right. Seeds are always under the soil! They don't go on top! Come on Bedelia, get a hold of yourself. Okay, so first the seeds go in..." Carefully and unsurely, she lowers the seeds into the pot scattering them in the bottom. "Yeah, that's right. Because the roots grow to the top, and then there's the plant. So then I need to add soil! No, wait. How will the water get to the seeds if the soil goes in before the water? Okay, so I need to add the water next..." In one motion, Bedelia tips the watering can upside down, emptying the can out of the top hole. Seeing that the pot is half full of water with the seeds floating at the top, Bedelia scratches her head. "Now, that doesn't look like what my momma-"
"Need help?" Sorrel interjects, startling Bedelia.
"Uh, no, why would you think that?" Bedelia laughs nervously, covering the pot with her hands.
"Ooookay," Sorrel replies, confused again. "I'll leave you to it then."
Once Sorrel has left, Bedelia takes her hands away from the pot and peers inside again, mumbling, "Well, it obviously can't be fixed now. Might as well add the soil," With that, she overturns the bag of soil, which flies up in a cloud and creates a mountain around the poor pot. Bedelia falls backward, coughing and sputtering as she attempts to wipe the dirt from her face. Although she can't see, she clearly hears Sorrel laughing her pants off a short distance away. So much for convincing Sorrel of her abilities. (462 words)

    Buttermilk: Rosé
Prompt: Rosé looked down her nose at the small saucer held between her front teeth where a small pile of seeds sat. She set it very gently one the ground and picked up a small bag of potting soil nearby. Carefully, she maneuvered the bag so she had the bottom corner and emptied it into a red, orange, and white glazed pot. Smiling at the lack of a complete mess, the heifer pushed her nose into the soft soil, making a decently deep divot. "I hope this is deep enough...or shallow enough!" she exclaimed aloud, looking around her for confirmation. No one acknowledged her outburst, however, so she pushed her nose into the pile of seeds next. The small seeds stuck to her moist nose and she scraped them off carefully with her hoof into the hole. A gentle covering of dirt and a sprinkle from the watering can, and Rosé was looking cheerfully at her pot. Hopefully something cool grows from the mystery seeds! (164)

Buttermilk: Beth (I haven't set up her barn page yet since I just got her)
    Prompt:

Planting seeds isn't really Beth's idea of having fun. It was actually something Beth would ordinarily avoid like it was death itself. But before going to the farmer's market, Beth promised herself that she would try some new things. After walking down the mysterious cobblestone path and with Sorrel asking for help, Beth couldn't just say no, even if she really wanted to.

Beth put on some gloves over her hooves to make sure they didn't get dirty. Next, Beth very carefully leaned down in the grass next to the pot of dirt. None of that dirt would touch her even if it wanted, Beth made sure of that.

With her shovel, Beth dug a little hole. She dropped the seeds in one by one, and then with her shovel, the seeds were covered up with a layer of dirt.

Satisfied with her job, Beth set the pot on a bench where she thought Sorrel would find and went off to find a sink where she could wash off the tiny speck of dirt that had magically found its way on her leg.

    Prompt:
"Hello, I'm Emma." A short but sturdy looking young lady stuck out a rough hand to Sorrel. She took it, "I'm Sorrel! Welcome to my Greenhouse. Are you here to help?" Emma nodded, and stepped towards the rows of small pots lining the wall. She peered into the ones nearest to her, and pushed one of them back on the shelf into a beam of sunlight that had just began to shine through the panes on the greenhouse wall. "Seeds are incredible little things, aren't they. With the right amount of care and dedication they sprout and grow into amazing plants. It's so intriguing to watch them, that's why I thought I would stop by," Emma stopped and looked back at Sorrel. "Do I get to plant one of my own?" Sorrel nodded, holding out her hand to reveal a single seed.

Emma stood carefully over her pot, poking a small hole in the dirt mound she had made to plop her tiny seed in. She covered the seed softly and sprinkled water over it. "You grow nice and strong now, and I'll be back tomorrow to check on you, ok?" Taking a step back, Emma turned to Sorrel. "I'll be back tomorrow, I'll see you then?" Sorrel smiled and nodded again, and walked her to the door. As she stepped out of the doorway, Emma turned to look at her little pot, just barely being kissed by the lowering sun. She turned away, and headed home.

      Buttermilk: nova (ft gf)
      Prompt: [512]
nova couldn't keep the smile from her face as her girlfriend pulled her around the market. typically, she wasn't one to be here during the day, but aspen had gotten herself dolled up to come out, so nova couldn't in her right mind say no. now she was following the shorter girl's steely hair through the maze of people as she seemingly had her sights set on something. it didn't take nova long to put two and two together and come to the conclusion that aspen was pulling her towards an old cobble path.

"are you sure you wanna go down here? it's dark and scary," nova teased as she quickly brought herself to the speed aspen was walking at. as her girlfriend looked up at her with a pout, nova nearly apologized, but aspen spoke before she could.

"it's a greenhouse at the end- i want to see the plants and see if they're selling any."

nova raised her free hand in defense and smiled down at the shorter of the pair as she turned her eyes back to the path. it was a quiet trek and they soon came across a large greenhouse that, even nova could admit, was stunning. she wasn't given much of a chance to take it in, though, as aspen was pulling her inside. they looked around for a few minutes without seeing anyone else and aspen was quietly but excitedly talking about the plants they were passing to nova, who was listening contently.

a woman standing a row away from them brought their attention away from the plants and aspen stepped behind nova a bit, looking up at her expectantly once the lady asked for their help planting some seeds.

"uh... sure! we can help," nova looked down at aspen, who nodded in agreement, "what do you need done?"

"oh, i just need a few more pots filled- everything is sitting next to it's place, so if you could just... find what needs to be done as i clean up the last few bits and bobs, i'd very much appreciate it!" the woman- sorrel, as she added on quickly- clapped and gave them a thumbs up before heading up front, where nova could hear her cleaning up.

"i- i guess let's plant some stuff?" nova asked, looking down at aspen once again. after another nod, they headed over to the first empty pot, which had a bag of soil and a small seedling sat next to it. opening the bag, nova poured some soil in and started a quiet, mostly one-sided, conversation with aspen, not minding that she was pretty much rambling as she filled the pot with soil and then dug out a little pit for aspen to put the seedling into.

they spent about thirty minutes quietly talking back and forth and finishing up with the plants, even going as far as planting new seeds for sorrel, before they were complete. nova, not one for plants nor helping out, was exhausted, but the look aspen gave her when sorrel thanked them was enough for her to consider doing this several more times.

        Buttermilk: The Holy Trinity
        Prompt:
This may have been Morgan's last stop at the farmer's market today, but...

He had been waiting for this. Even walking up to the greenhouse, the forest god found himself itching and raring to go: he struggled to break into a run, settling himself in the very uncomfortable fast walk-slow jog people do when someone opens a door for them.

Stepping in the greenhouse was like a breath of fresh air: it reminded him of being back home. Unfortunately, Morgan had... absolutely no idea where his husband went. Had no idea where he was. All the plants welcoming him made the young man feel like everything else faded away.

The butterflies flew away softly from Morgan, politely littering themselves throughout the greenhouse... some sitting on plants, others trying to explore more. It was comforting. While he was not too startled, it almost felt like Morgan lost his crown here. While the young man was lanky, and rather tall, he felt himself hunch down a little bit as to give respect to Sorrel.

"It is a pleasure to be here... truly, thank you for the welcome... I am Morgan, and my husband is somewhere..."

Could you plant these for me?

Morgan's ears perked up immediately. He grinned gleefully: this was a two for one! It was almost like he was back at his nursery as a manager. Plants plants plants... this was something the man truly enjoyed, and felt at home around. With the terracotta pots in front of him, paired with the soil and sees... he eagerly clears off a small little station for himself. He stacked the pots in one little tower in the corner, carefully placed the seeds in the opposite corner, and got to work.

While some seeds are, admittedly, very difficult to tell apart, most of them Morgan can identify. Working with plants all his life has left the guardian with more knowledge than he could hope for: and while he sifted through the seeds to identify what was what, his little pale, white, glowing butterflies helped him with any that were too difficult or to unfamiliar. It was like watching a preschooler trying to write his name: once he got it, you could see the contained excitement from not jumping up, with a pure sparkle in the mismatched bull's eyes.

While some might have bothered to put on gloves, Morgan bothered to ignore the trovel that was bestowed upon him and just used his hands. Pulling out the topmost terracotta, and inspecting it to make sure there was no major problems that might impeded growth, he placed it in the center and started gently packing dirt into the little pot.

Thankfully, based off of his knowledge, Morgan was able to get the requirements for potting correctly for the ones he was able to do before Sorrel came back. When the heifer did, the bull, who was sitting down on a sturdy pot making him significantly shorter but still not enough for him to stop hunching over, scratched at his chin sheepishly. It easily could have reminded anyone of a child getting caught after raiding a tub of cheese balls.

"I made a list of the plants... I stuck their requirements in the ones I knew for sure. Some of the plants, I am not entirely sure about..."

Motioning down to all the pots now laid at his feet, he continued to scratch. He did not want to seem like he was overstepping boundaries by doing so much, or by seeming like he knew better than Sorrel, but these plants needed his attention if Sorrel was so busy.

"God, Wulfe is going to kill me for bringing more plants home...."

Andie's face lit up as the greenhouse owner dropped a handful of mismatched seeds into her outstretched hands, transferring them all into one hand before sorting through them with one finger and humming with a soft smile. The young girl loved to garden - the activity having been a hobby that she picked up from her mother - and planned to start a small and not nearly as impressive window garden in her new apartment as soon as she found the time. "Oh, these are gonna be so cute and pretty when they bloom!" she chirped, turning on her heel and heading back towards the front of the greenhouse where she'd spotted a few empty planters that were just the right size - she assumed, anyway.

Andie paused on the way to grab a few more bags of dirt and a watering can before kneeling down on the ground without a thought given to how messy her clothes would get by the time she'd finished and getting to work, carefully pouring dirt into each pot before dampening it with water then making a hole and dropping two seeds into each before covering it again.

The edge of her skirt had folded over when she'd lowered herself to the ground and provided the young girl with a pocket for the seeds. Andie pulled out a pair of headphones and let shuffle take over her soundtrack, soon falling into a calming pattern of dirt, water, seed and cover before shuffling to the side on her knees. Time seemed to slow as she worked and she was a little more than slightly startled when the last seeds where planted and only the plaid of her skirt met her fingers when she made to reach for the next seed.

Andie blinked and looked back towards the door to see her progress, equally startled to see how many pots she'd done and how low the sun was in the sky considering how early she'd arrived. "Oh my.. I better go find that nice lady.." she muttered to herself, pressing her palms to the ground and standing up. Dirt fell from her clothes as she brushed them off before gathering the borrowed supplies and wandering through the greenhouse to find Sorrel, only briefly pausing to return the watering can and what remained of the potting soil.

After wandering through the expansive greenhouse and not spotting the owner anywhere, Andie returned to the front and wrote a note to leave by her work:

Hello! I've finished planting the seeds you gave me in these rows! It was quite fun and I'd love to do it again sometime - hoping to be something of a gardener myself someday - so if you need me again, here's my number!
