The night was rising, the stars filling the dark blue sky and a large milky moon was taking its place in the large canvas, rising as the blue slid over the territory sky. Cats were beginning to fall into their dens and collapse into their nests, exhausted after a long day of work in and outside of the camp. However, one was struggling to get herself to fall asleep. Her name is Muddyfreckle. The colorful she-cat wanted to fall asleep, she was exhausted after all, but she also didn't because of the nightmare that was surely waiting for her to crawl into its jaws. With a deep breath, Muddyfreckle closed her eyes and let herself drift away, fearful and wary for what was coming next. Would the dream come back?
She woke up in a large, cut down forest. All the trees were cut from their trunks, leaving rounded stumps all over. The rivers were covered in human-made dams, controlling the flow away from the CreekClan camp. Muddyfreckle let out a quiet sigh, her head lowering in defeat. It was the same dream she kept having. There were no signs of human activity recently in the clan territory except for the usual humans in Summer setting up their campsites nut ever since she started having this nightmare repeatedly she was on extra alertness and spent a lot of time watching the humans set up their evil contraptions.
Muddyfreckle turned, heading deeper into the forest, looking for her clan's camp. It was a little harder to navigate with all the destruction but she would make due. She padded towards the familiar engrave in the ground but what she saw horrified her. Dead cats, too many of them. Friends, family, rivals. All of CreekClan was here, in this pile. And among this pile, she saw one familiar pelt among them all, her.
She took a deep breath, beginning to panic. She wasn't on the pile last time she had this nightmare. What did it mean? Was she destined to die? She whipped around and raced off to the moor, hoping to escape on the winding territory that she loved so much. Her paws ached and her lungs screamed for air but she didn't stop, wanting to reach the comforting territory, but what she was met with horrified her beyond prepare.
The moorland was destroyed. There was nothing there. Instead, human houses were built on what used to be the moor and there was a long black winding road that leads into the forest. Tears were building up in the she-cat's eyes, she was horrified. Was this destined to happen to her home? Were they destined to lose it, just like how they lost their old one? 'I won't leave this time,' she promised herself, closing her eyes and taking another deep breath.
She closed her eyes and darted across the hard human path, returning to the forest. She wanted to see what else was happening to her clan's home. Was there any way she could stop this from happening? Muddyfreckle slowed to a trot when she felt cool soil underneath her paw, opening her eyes, but what she saw rooted her to the ground. A large human truck was rolling towards her and she couldn't move. She looked down at her paws but human ropes were tied around her body, holding her to the ground as she struggled, wanting to escape. This didn't feel like a nightmare anymore. This was different.
She struggled more, letting out wails of fear, hoping the human would stop to rescue her, but he didn't. The truck's lights glared down at her, blinding her as it came closer, and she gritted her teeth and flattened her ears in acceptance. This was the end. Just as the truck would crush her she woke up, panting heavily and fur bristling. What was she going to do? Should she talk to someone? Muddyfreckle got to her paws, approaching one of the only cats she trusted.
"Snowheart, we need to talk." She meowed, looking fearfully at the medicine cat.
