"Begin!"

The tortoiseshell trembled, taking a few steps back as her opponent circled her. She swallowed hard, drawing her chin up.

This was humiliating.

The young apprentice before her, nearly 10 moons younger, looked more trained than she did. Of course, she had only been training for a few moons after a storm had driven her out of her human home.

Otterpaw paused a moment, letting it sink in. Her whiskers twitched; and in a split second, she was in the air, paws outstretched, reaching to grab Wisteria.

Panicking, Wisteria dropped to the ground, wrapping her paws tightly over her head. With a heavy thump Otterpaw crashed into her, sending her rolling across the clearing.

"Wisteriawish... that's not what I taught you," her mentor Buzzardflight meowed, amusement in his voice.

"But it worked!" Wisteriawish scrambled to her paws defiantly, eyeing Otterpaw with distrust.

She took her position again, facing the apprentice. "Let's try again."

It's definitely taken her a l o t of practice, but Slash has finally been able to implement one of SpitFire's fighting skills into her own. Spitty twists when she leaps around an enemy, and Slash has taken it upon herself to practice the same. She's much bulkier so it's much harder but when someone leaps around behind her, she takes her shot.
She rears up on her hind legs, twisting to hook out her claws and snag the cat, then while she's still twisted in the air, she springs up, leaping upward so she slashes the cat and pulls them off their feet. It almost always succeeds with smaller cats in staggering them so she can throw them to the ground, and with larger cats she can still get a good shot it.

A furious scream echoes out as ReedStep throws herself out of the bushes into the nearest cat of her clan, shocking everyone. The enemy they are fighting backs up, taken aback by the sudden betrayal. Everyone in her clan steps back too, they look from her, to the cat under her to their enemy. Silence falls and the attackers peel back- a free for all wasn't the kind of fight they wanted to be in.

FalconLeap let out an annoyed hiss as he looked ReedStep up and down. "No." He says firmly.
"Why not- I won us the fight!"
"By attacking your own, no you can't be a coast guard."
"It wasn't an attack it was psychological war fair- I call it 'the friendly fire."
There wasn't enough words for how badly ReedStep had messed up, but no matter what he said- it wouldn't stop her from using that move several times on later dates. [155]

Prompt: Sorrelflash thought up a brilliant fighting technique, though she discovered it by accident as an apprentice. There was one day, in her energetic youth, when she fell head first into a bush of brambles and got several burrs and thorns stuck into her long, silky fur. Her brother and sister found the sight hilarious and were rolling about on the ground. Sorrelpaw, annoyed and embarrassed at her siblings, tackled them both; she sprinted so quickly at the duo that they didn't see it coming until it hit them.

Their mentors laughed heartily at the sight of fur and prickles tumbling about in a playfight, and realised the ingenuity of Sorrelpaw's unintentional battle technique: lining a long-furred cat's pelt with burrs and other prickles, run at the target, and tackle them down. If they fight? They have mounds of fur and thorns to get through first!

This generally confuses her target so when the go over to sniff her to see if she is really dead, she uses her claws and slashes at their neck while they are distracted. While it is her signature move, it isn't very successful for obvious reasons.

Even though she is getting higher in her age, Meadowleap does not let that stop her. She continues to practice new battle techniques every day, and especially loves teaching new techniques. Meadowleap did get her name for a reason - known for her leaps and jumps, there is one in particular that the cats have learned to call the Meadow Leap. Done in an open area, Meadowleap demonstrates a high-flying tactic in which she is able to use her strong back legs to strike her opponent from above. It is widely used in her new clan, especially as the cats have adapted the technique to climbing to trees and dropping on opponents when they are unaware; though the term Meadow Leap is still used even when the maneuver is not used in open areas.
