What are Khimaira Friesians?
Khimaira Friesians are a "normal" friesian breed with all characteristics of a friesian and a average height from 15 to 17 hands, but even 18 hands can occur. The first born Khimaira was mistaked for a chimera horse. But a genetic test showed otherwise, there wasn't a second DNA but a complete new and unknown gen. Because this gen makes the friesian look like a chimera it was named khimaira. khimaira doesn't produce a complete new dna coat and therefor it can only lighten or darken the base coat of the horse. Till now only the paint khimaira is known that makes the khimaira coloration looks like tobiano, overo, sabino or splash. But we believe that there will be more khimaira variations out there and we still try to breed them. Appaloosas are not known till now, but we have some great friesian mixed horses with appaloosa patterns, so we are sure to deliver them to you in a short amount of time.

Relationship: The two grew up together on a farm in the rural area of West Virginia. Their owner was a small time farmer that was known for rescuing any and all animals in need. Mieko and Justice were taken in on the same day from a farm that had been abandoned 20 miles away from their new home. They were the only two left behind and took comfort in one another. They were inseparable. Mieko refused to leave Justice's side, and insisted on riding in the trailer with her on their journey to their new home. Still to this day, Mieko will not leave Justice for long periods of time, he sleeps in her stall every night, follows her into the pasture, and sits patiently in the arena whenever Justice is being worked.

Relationship: One day, I went outside to grab Rebel out of the pasture but couldn't find her anywhere, which was strange because she is almost always near the fence. I stood at the fence and whistled and yelled for her, but she never came. I stood outside for another 8 or so minutes and whistled again. A few moments later, I hear a meow coming from the woods a little ways back and I knew that there were coyotes out there. So, I ran out into the woods to try and save this cat I kept hearing. I ran down a little further into the woods and I finally saw Rebel. But I was worried about the cat, so I quickly put the rope halter around Rebel's head and very loosely tied her up to a nearby branch because I knew she wouldn't really go anywhere. But anyway, I heard the cat meow again and I started walking away, but the meows were beginning to fade. So, I turned around and started heading the other direction but the same thing happened there too. I walked back to Rebel and asked her if she could possibly help me find this cat. All of a sudden, I realized that Rebel knew where the cat was all along. I looked up, and found this cat at least 12 feet (about 3.5 meters) into the tree! I carefully climbed the tree and got the cat safely down. He was probably a couple months old and was wearing an old rope collar, which was rubbing off his fur and I could tell was probably very itchy and irritating, with a rusty pendant that only said Tigger on one side. On the way back home from the woods, Rebel kept nudging my arm that I was holding Tigger in; I could tell she was kind of worried and a bit anxious to get home. When we got home I instantly took off Tigger's nasty collar and gave him a bath. For a cat, he enjoyed it! I was surprised by how much he didn't try to fight me. Later that night, I brought Tigger to Rebel's stall in the barn and they instantly just fell in love with each other. Tigger grew up and became our barn cat who still sleeps in Rebels stall, every single night.

Relationship: Catch and Agata grew up together in the same paddock they've been best friends for as long as they can remember. Don't get me wrong they have had there ups and downs like any relationship like they do fight generally about silly things like who gets the last bite of the apple or who gets to drink from the trough first but they always make up. Most of the time you will see them galloping together or playing or just standing next to each other grazing or enjoying the sun on their backs lazily flicking their tails at the annoying buzzing flies.

Relationship: Although it’s strange, for a horse to be friends with a rat, she simply is. For quite a while, Rose was frightened of the little thing. She didn’t like the way he scurried by at her hooves. However, he had made a nest in her stall, so she has to get used to it. Eventually, she began to grow used to him, and one day she extended her muzzle to him, in greeting. To her utter shock, he climbed up her face and neck, and perched on her shoulder.
He seemed to have a liking for Rose, and so she decided she would tolerate Pippin, and they slowly became closer. Rose would “accidentally” drop bits of feed from her bucket for him, and in return he would groom her mane while perched on her shoulder (although, admittedly, he can’t do much given his small size). They’ve been practically inseparable ever since they bonded, and Rose always makes sure to stomp in warning whenever a human’s coming, knowing what they would do to her best friend.

Relationship: Although an unusual pair, Skathi is close friends with a bird known as Herne. Where she lives, there are a number of hunting horses, as well as a number of birds of prey used for falconry. While Skathi does not go on hunts herself, she enjoys watching the birds flashing through the sky, circling the ground before plummeting downward.

One day, the mare saw Herne get knocked from the sky as one of the other merlins crashed into him. He spread his wings at the last minute to stop himself from hitting the ground, but found himself caught in the thin wire of the fence enclosing the field Skathi grazed in. He screeched in shock, his wings beating furiously as feathers scattered over the ground. The mare cantered over to him, convincing him to lie still as she worked to free him. Once the last wire piece was moved, the bird was eternally grateful for her help. As the hunters arrived on their horses, the bird swore to visit her again.

After that day, Herne visited her every day. Alone in the field, Skathi enjoyed his company, and his tales of freedom and flight. The two would race each other across the field, and Skathi would leap as high into the air as she could as the merlin darted around her head.

While an odd duo, they are the closest of friends, and can be seen together in the field during the day. In the dew-heavy mornings of the cold seasons, they keep warm during their games. When the summer comes, bringing the buzzing of insects in the lazy heat, Herne keeps his friend free from their irritation, the air over his feathers keeping him cool.

Relationship: Ash is a rather shy girl, so she was naturally drawn to Gala's gentle, easygoing personality. When they first met she wasn't sure if he would accept her. She was a bit nervous around the ranch in general, but he welcomed her with a soft nuzzle. They became grazing buddies, getting to know each other during their time out to pasture. Over the course of several months they became practically inseparable, and now they can be seen playing in the fields on a daily basis, sometimes with the ranch dogs joining in. She's happiest and at her best with Gala, which hasn't gone unnoticed by the owners of SMR. They frequently take the two out on rides together, and if they didn't know better, they'd say the two horses hold pleasant conversations during these rides, almost like a human couple out for a stroll, holding hands.
