Muddied water sat as the gentle hum of nature flittered in and out of his concentration. Soft oranges and browns filled the page, twirling like leaves in the calmest of breezes that cooled the air. Cicadas buzzed quietly, a white noise filling the calming atmosphere with only the smallest interruption of those who played in the leaves that had fallen.

Laughter mixed with the wind, drifting out like a song to the ears of those willing to listen. A clink of the glass as the end of his paintbrush tapped against the glass, ridding it of excess water, only to be soiled once again. Yellow dotted the page with care and delicacy. The colours of undried paint mixing and mingling to create a scene that would never be recreated by any, no matter how hard they should try.

The unpredictability of watercolours was one of the reasons it had slowly turned into his favourite medium to work with. Learning to become unapologetic with how he used colours and the acceptance of mistakes, big and small.

Autumn too had that similar unpredictability. It could be kind, dry days filled with laughter, such as the one they were enjoying, with days of play and adventure. It could also, however, be undeniably cruel, with rain and storms which lead to huddled nights around a fire with warm drinks.

The season was that of family, of togetherness, of appreciation for those around him, regardless of how it decided to behave that day.

Leaning back on the stairs, Rowan looked out over his family, a gentle smile graced his lips as he watched and enjoyed the comfort of the season around him. The painting sat, a collection of thoughts carefully portrayed for any who wished to take a glimpse into a moment captured in time.

"Well, I get to paint more, yes! That's it."

Manchineel's favorite thing about fall is not something he talks about very openly. He likes to keep it secret, as he's afraid that it will make some people think he's somehow 'cheating' in art. Gifted the powers of a lower demigod by a god who had deemed him pure of heart- valuing the worth of art depending on the heart, and not on the wallet. During the fall season, Manchineel would be able to touch the leaves of a dying tree, and allow the tree to completely go into hibernation as far as 3 months before natural hibernation. The color and pattern of the tree would be kept inside of his paws until he would be able to draw or paint out the appearance of the tree in it's autumn state.

He gained this power at a young age, and with the help of his parents, has grown a large forest of trees on their property, which allows the kalon to wander among the trees and slowly put them all into hibernation before winter's cold hits the land. He paints each tree, naming each painting differently. He doesn't keep the paintings, but instead of selling them, he gives them away to those who he believes will appreciate it.

He's donated to multiple schools, hospitals, and individual art-based organizations. He loves to paint, and it is one of his most favorite activities. However, nothing comes close to the feeling his heart gets when he is able to put a tree into a peaceful hibernation, and give that life and color to those who may not have enough to purchase such color from other artists.

But I think I enjoy something more than others in fall. I love feeling that nice, cool breeze that drifts in, letting me know that winter will soon be here! And I love crunching in the leaves!"

People didn't often understand Bernard when he said his favorite thing about autumn was the sound. They found it quite odd that a season could sound like anything in the first place. Many times he had to explain to friends and family what he meant by this statement.

He stumbled across an ASMR video by accident, but within seconds he was hooked by the chills that ran down his spine, and the light tingling that coursed throughout his body. It didn't take long for him to realize that he began to hear things differently.

Yes, the leaves were beautiful; a mix of rich golds, and browns, and reds; but for him, the real beauty came from how crisp they were. Crackling and crunching underfoot, the sound was a symphony to his sensitive ears, and he loved it.

The wind, made colder from the oncoming winter, whispered lightly through pale trees and made the bare branches creak as they danced. The soft babbling of streams, winding their way across dark pebbles, and trickling into unknown crevices.

Birdsong overhead as they begin their quest to find warmer weather. The chatter of squirrels in the morning, seen from his kitchen window as they forage throughout the leaf litter in search of food. Even the sound of crickets late in the evening, beginning their seasonal song.

Hearing the breeze make soft ripples on the lake's surface, sitting outside in a little wooden chair on the porch, listening to the quiet hum of the woods as it settled down for the night while the sun began to dip behind the hills.

All of it combined was exquisite, like nature's orchestra was putting on a performance for him, only him; and he couldn't get enough of it.

Aspens favourite thing about fall - and it always has been their favourite thing about fall - is watching the boring green leaves of summer fade into a dazzling array of yellows, oranges and reds. They enjoy collecting these leaves to make collages and giving them to their friends, cover their home in, and most importantly to jump in them! They love the feel of the cool breeze through their delicate fur, and the harmonious, soft crunch of the leaves underfoot.
