Music is my life, so when I heard we were doing "music inspired" for our weekly challenge I knew I had to step up!

I recently found out with Owl City's new song "5th of July" that Adam Young and I share a birthday... and he also grew up really, really close to me ^-^ So of course I had to make an Owl City Viscet for the music theme week!

I made the viscet off a Snowy Owl to represent the band name, and then the mane has fireflies to represent their very popular song "Fireflies". It's items represent other songs; "Galaxies", "Silhouette", and "Peppermint Winter" <3

Galaxy in a Jar....how did it get there?
It was "grown."

When Lane was younger, a small meteor landed outside of his home. He went out and examined it and found a spark inside. So, naturally, he grabbed a jar and put the spark inside it. As it dropped into the jar, it melted into a blue goo with a few twinkles inside, almost like glitter. A few months later, his family visited a site where a huge meteor had struck. Lane spent most of the day secretly collecting rocks from the land and putting them into his jar. Each one melted into the goo, creating more and more. Until finally, a couple years later, it was full. Inside now held a swirling galaxy full of stars. He put in another rock to see what would happen and, instead of splashing over, it immediately melted into the rest and did not change the amount in the jar, but did add two new stars. Now he travels everywhere collecting not only "star rocks" but also other knickknacks.

Galaxy in a Jar:
❛❛ One of the many things I was given by Merlin was a Jar, at first I didn't understand the reason behind it, but then he did something amazing... he took a small handful of pure white sand, and infusing his magic into the sand, within the space of the jar he created what appeared to be a miniature galaxy. He told me that, with a solemn expression, what was in the jar was the very magic that he himself used. I could use it to speak with him if needed, but it was also a guide to lead me back to him if I ever became lost. I keep the jar close at all times, it helps me when I get too deep into the thoughts of my past or I have lost my way. All I must do is whisper the words taught to me and I can find my way once more. ❜❜

❛❛ Hello ... my name is Alekus. My life has changed a lot over the past few years, for more than a few reasons. I tremble when I think of my early childhood; how cold and harsh my father was, he tried to make me like him, but I refused. He barely kept me alive, I survived off of the crumbs he threw me and my mother every once and awhile, he didn't even blink when mother died, but I suspect he never cared about her, not even before I was born. So, at the age of sixteen I ran. I ran as far as I could away from that horrible viscet. He was not my father, he never was. Not once did he ever do something good, all he did; and he enjoyed it, was cause me humiliation and suffering.
I try the best I can to block the memories .. but it is impossible.

After running away from my "father" I was lost, alone, and afraid.
But, somehow, he found me. An elderly man by the name of Merlin, found me wandering about aimlessly near his home. I was starved and was near pneumonia -- and he saved me.
At first, I thought him very odd; always saying peculiar gibberish and poems, and I didn't understand how it was possible for him to understand me. But he taught something very important, that I keep with me close to my heart to this day. Before Merlin, I thought I could never be someone with my past, but he helped me greatly in realizing I could still be loved and have a home, because the past is the past; it can't hurt you if you don't allow it to. He also taught me how to read the human tongue, with much patience from Merlin, I mastered it.

I even met the Human King after living with Merlin for a time, he seemed skeptical about me at first, but gifted me this crest around my neck to mark me as a friend to his people, making it a crime if any human of his land ever tried to harm me.
Though I still don't fully understand humans strange ways, I'm happy to have friends that I can truly count on.
Despite the overwhelming support and love I receive from the humans, in the darkest hours of the night, my mind begins to wander back to my past. I find myself waking up, utterly frightened out of my mind with tears streaming down my face. No matter what I do, I can't lie and say I will never have such horrid nightmares again. However, I can turn to my Jar of Stars after a nightmare, and find my way home once more, to peace. ❜❜

Luciole looked at the empty jar, thinking about what to do with it.
She tapped her paw on the desk. A friend had just given her a
random glass jar with nothing in it, and some painting supplies.
She'd been told that it was supposed to inspire her. How was
an empty jar supposed to inspire her? Her friend was always
making weird metaphors, but this? She sighed, and looked
at the paints. The colors seemed to be very specific. Purple
and blue shades with some white glitter glue. She picked up one
of her peppermints, and popped it into her mouth. What
was purple and blue with white glitter? She laid her head on the desk,
continuing to ponder. She looked out the window. It was a glittering,
starry night. Of course! She quickly grabbed the art supplies, and
began to decorate the inside of the jar, painting glitter glue along the edges.
After using the glitter glue, she got the shades of blue and purple, and
made some abstract. After a while, it was finally done. It was
a gorgeous galaxy in a jar. She popped another peppermint into
her mouth, and placed the jar onto a shelf. She'd just found a
great hobby- painting.
