Matsuba loves to explore shipwrecks. He will ask locals about abandoned ships that may have been wrecked by nearby rocks to plan out where exactly he will search. His home and personal belongings are filled to the brim with maps and notes he's taken on shipwrecks. His curiosity often gets the best of him; when he has nothing planned for the rest of his day out and he hears rumors about a recent shipwreck, Matsuba will immediately drop whatever he was doing to find out where the ship is.

Due to his koi ancestry, he is able to swim with absolute ease, allowing him to travel out into unexplored waters without any fear. Since he is also able to breathe underwater, Matsuba feels no need to purchase overly expensive diving equipment when his own gills can do the same work for him. He loves the exciting rush of exploring new areas he's never experienced, and he adores it even more when there's areas only accessible through swimming.

Matsuba has come across many different abandoned ships during his young lifetime. Not being able to profit off of his expeditions is certainly a risk that he's willing to take. Only a few of ships that he's explored were littered with absolute riches, allowing the koi dog to profit off of his lengthy explorations. Even then, Matsuba refused to profit off of the whole hoard of treasure, allowing others who visit in the future to have their chance of discovering the priceless gems and metals. A majority of the ships he finds are often haunted by spirits that were left to deal with the all too quickly sinking ship. Even though the thought of mischievous demons playing unruly pranks on him absolutely terrifies the koi dog, he still finds witnessing them first hand to be an interesting and educational experience.

After a long day of exploring, Matsuba can be found winding down and relaxing with a hot cup of tea in his tea shop, chatting with close friends about his adventures. He wished that his actual job could revolve around exploration and swimming, but at the same time he fears that the excitement from his beloved hobby would disappear if he got much too use to it from repeatedly going on numerous expeditions.

Aolani finds pearls to sell and makes huge profits to support her sick mother. whenever she isn't exploring the ocean she surfs with her tail and the other furries thing its unique. house hobbies

chumki is very decorative, and cannot live a day without somewhat decorating her house in a small way to the point where it isnt flashy, this will often be decorative things such small, removable, colorful pins in the wall, washable paint on her white walls, or even decorating the house with open books, even some pages pinned to walls adding a sort of aesthetic to the house. she'll even tend to decorate heir house in the origin of their name, her name is indian, meaning "decorative star," so occasionally she'll add an indian "spice" to the remote home she lives in. she even acknowledges the fact that she's somewhat a koi fish, meaning she'll decorate her house in black, orange, white, anything that belongs to a koi fish's natural accents.

though this is quite weird, she aligns this with the koi fish decor, she'll have a book open on the living room table pinned, stuck to the table, open to a set of certain pages. this is very dark, at this point. the book is titled "BOUND" in bold, red letters. the pages that are open describe how a chinese girl's stepmother had cooked up a koi fish that the girl would talk to in a pond; assuming it was her real mother's current body at the time since she'd died long ago and wanted to protect her daughter. flipping the pages will show that the girl even found koi fish bones in a dung pile, she'd even discovered it was in the soup her mother made just by tasting it. chumki's said that she loves koi fish, well, she's half koi fish, anyway, but she's never explained why the book was open to those specifc pages rather than a calmer page involving the koi fish mother.

chumki's considered a "practical prodigy to me" by her family since she writes so much, she'll write small books, she'll write to herself to calm down, she'll write letters to friends since she had limited acess to technology for things like email and text, she'll write the best poems she can, which, well, after reading them multiple times, pretty terrible. she'll write pretend song lyrics that she could sing when she's bored despite being no song writer, writing's just something she considers she's good at despite being terrible to many others. sometimes if she's proud of something she wrote, she'll rip it out of the small book she composes in and will pin it up in her highly orange, black, and white room as an heirloom, or just reminder, that she's got a sort of talent there that she won't forget.

though not often considered a hobby to others, chumki highly enjoys her art class at school, for a lot of times she'll get to work with clay and wood, thus saying, she'll get to cut or even mold a small koi fish out of clay or wood and get to paint it whatever shade of red or black she wants, wanting to make it as pretty as possible. though her craftmen ship using wood and clay is not at all good, the experience of trying and doing her best at it makes her pretty happy. she gets to take home this little black and red koifish with little whiskers and gets to decorate her tables and wall unit with it to the point where she could "have atleast fifty of them by the age of thirty," which is an ongoing joke her parents make almost all the time, making her question whether to be embarrassed, laugh, or be somewhat offended by the remark.

it's hard to apple pick during the summer or winter, which is why she rarely speaks of it as a hobby, during those fall months she enjoys apple picking, using all the apples she couldnt reach the year before in apple pies if she likes, anything sweet, she can buy apple doughnuts of all things, her main pride and joy of apple picking, honestly. she can eat the apples, she can even try the ones who havent fully grown yet, just to recline with the sickenly tart taste they have. it's always an experience going there, she even saw a hay ride driver who looked like the mythical present man himself, making the joke whenever she can everytime she goes there with friends or siblings.

though chumki has little to no acess with technology, it goes the same for up-to-date games and their consoles, however, she does have a very old nintendo 64 and three or four games she plays, often playing some game about a green tunic wearing elf-boy and his annoying fairy that'll constantly squawk at you when you know what you're doing 90% of the time because apparently, "you're doing it wrong" and aren't "listening." pushing past that, she enjoys all of her games, no matter how much they keep her caught in one annoying spot she can't get past for two days straight until she manages to find some dumb place to do something and end up getting out of the area fully.

It may be a bit cliche, but he likes icewater swimming for more reasons than just the exhilarating chill. Roy finds it hilarious when he is a better swimmer than the natives...

canoeing
keiko loves to canoe. especially whitewater canoeing, which is canoeing in strong rapids (hence the term "whitewater").

professional scuba diving
well, sometimes without the scuba gear. keiko works as a scuba diving instructor, using her gear mostly to train. when she does it for fun, she doesn't usually use her gear. keiko, with her koi heritage, is a very skilled swimmer, and did swim team as a kid.

coin collecting
keiko loves to collect coins from different places, even willing to travel to different places to get the coins herself. otherwise, she'll buy them, if they aren't over fifty dollars.

aquarium keeping
the koi-dog hybrid keeps a large, saltwater aquarium in her house. of course, it has no fish, but it had saltwater plants, coral, and such. her favorite within it is her light blue glow-in-the-dark anemones. the aquarium is very clean and well cared for.
