happy 20th anniversary to the game that started it all <33

that started my obsession with digital pets and collecting items
that started my love for video games, computers, and character development
that got me into games like animal jam, moshi monsters, and eventually, chicken smoothie & eldemore

i don't think i would be where i'm at in life & have the interests that i do without being introduced to webkinz at a young age

heres to hopefully the revival of this game when they port it back to being web-based instead of download only (announced today on their website/insta stories!!! im so excited)

Seeing mine vs yours memes circulating again reminded me of one of my old ones so I decided to redraw this Bravepaws! Always fun to redraw oekaki art, it’s motivating to see how much I’ve improved over time :3
I feel lucky to still have a strong connection to my first fursona, maybe not quite as much as I did back in 2016-2018 but I still love to doodle him, and have a fursuit of him in the works as well! The version of me who drew the BP on the left would be so ecstatic to know about that, lol

spent too long on this. I really need to get back into like, actual art instead of UMA stuff all the time.

I thought this would be fun to do between crochet projects as a break for my left wrist-- so I used this website to generate a pool of 6 random pokemon and selected my favorite to draw, then once I did the lineart I went to this website to generate a random color palette to color the pokemon in with! That is how these little creatures were born!

I tried to stick pretty close to their original designs, but I added some small/subtle markings on some to get all the palette colors included/to make them look a little spiffy! the random pokemon gen ALSO includes nature and gender as options which is fun!

if you'd like to take on this challenge yourself please feel free to! i strongly encourage it, it was a lot of fun and encouraged me to draw some pokemon i really liked but hadn't drawn before-- like floatzel and entei who are up there as some of my faves but for some reason i'd NEVER drawn them??? that's blasphemy. anyway! yes pls feel free to! I'd also love if you could show me bc I'd love to see what you make!!

here's some funny lil thoughts about the guys i made

mossy entei - quiet nature - male - probably grass type instead of fire, maybe also ghost? a forest guardian type pokemon that slumbers in the deep darkwoods until their territory is transgressed upon

purple quilava - calm nature - female - reminds me of a soft mood light, might be an emotional support pokemon especially with her nature? could be a nice source of gentle light and warmth to a panicked trainer. might be fire/psychic?

pastel lileep - naive nature - male - silly and sweet kind of pokemon, perhaps glows in low light? colors remind me a bit of bioluminescence of a glowstick. could be good for cave exploring?

goldmoon ursaluna - quiet nature - male - this one has the most improvising because the palette was hard, but I think he came out cool! might be more aligned with the sun than the moon? big claws that look muddy from digging. the green rock either reminds me of bushes/brush or of oxidizing copper perhaps?

magenta tyrunt - lonely nature - male - love his fabulous nails, very fashionable. bright colors might make him a show pokemon, but lonely nature because he feels like people only like him at a surface level? might be ground/fairy type, due to coloring?

edgy floatzel - gentle nature - male - this one started as a challenge but i ended up loving him so much. lifeguard pokemon, loves to help by the poolside. somewhat sassy, as all floatzel are. might be water/dark type.

glowy riolu - adamant nature - male - the raccoon stripes on the tail just felt right. an outgoing and brash pokemon, loves sparring. don't have many thoughts on this guy other than doesn't he look dope???

sunset azelf - careful nature - female - added a lot of patterns here because otherwise azelf only has like, two or three colors. really like how this one turned out though! still an avatar of willpower, this pokemon appears to trainers who refuse to give up in the face of impossible odds, even when things are dark there is still light-- sunset on the horizon. might be psychic/fire because of the added sun motif? might be cool for em to learn some fire moves.
