Nursery | Unicorn Coursing | Competitive Jousting | Archives

    Official Standard for the Lungehound
General Appearance: Originally bred for carriage, the Lungehound was originally an expensive steed to accompany the crown and nobles. Purpose was eventually derived from the biddable nature of the hounds, transforming from carriage animals to the mounts of jousting tournaments and coursing. The Lungehound was originally bred for the purpose of holding stamina over long distances while maintaining a graceful appearance. The Lungehound is always meant to be a companion first and foremost and should always have the temperament to reflect this.
Color: Any color or combination of colors is acceptable except for merle.
Size: Mature males should be at least 75in at the withers with mature females at least 64in at the withers. Males and females have no maximum height limit as long as they reach the minimum. Mature males typically weigh in between 1000-1100 pounds, with females weighing in 100-200 pounds below that.

✦ All site rules must be followed.
✦ A user can own any amount of hounds.
✦ In the instance of a banned user, the hounds stay with the user but are considered inactive from the species.
✦ Hounds may be gifted, traded or resold for virtual currency.

Pomzee are canines originating from Yonder, a newly discovered dwarf planet with an abundance of life. every Pomzee is recognisable for a set of gliding membranes that extend between their fore and hidelegs, useful to seek food, while the distinct pom-pom tail seems to serve great entertainment. they are small in stature; comparatively, they range in size from a small to medium dog and incredibly lightweight.

Poms are social creautes and behave in such an exuberant, lively manner that some may find overwhelming. between their large group sizes, the chatters and chirping sounds create loud songs that can be heard from miles away.

most Pomzee are exceptionally friendly and communicable, and as we discover more of Yonder, they help us in the research of this strange planet.

An orange whirlwind of fur rushes past you and quickly plops themselves down on the ground behind a shabby
makeshift booth. In their mouth is a jar of fireflies that they gently put down on the ground beside them before
speaking.

"Oh man I hope you weren't waiting long for me! I'm Mothpaw and I run this little exchange here. If you got
Fireflies I got goodies for you to choose from!" He grins from ear to ear, his tail swishing behind him as he waves
a paw over the various scraps of paper he has on the stall.

"So can I interest you in anything?"

Q. What happens to the fireflies I use to purchase items?
A. They go into Mothpaw's jar forever. (The void)

Q. Can I get a refund on items?
A. All C$ and Firefly purchases are final once they are banked. Exceptions may be made under certain circumstances- just ask!

Q. Can I use an item/MYO before they are banked?
A. Please do not do this! It helps our archivists stay organized if you wait for the items to be banked first.

Darona Paints Association Navigation:

Onside Navigation:
Adopt | Breedings | Base Coats + Markings
Offside Navigation:
Forum | Barn gallery | For Artists

If you are interested in an artist spot, just write me per pm and have some drawings ready <3

The Darona Paints:

The Darona Paints are a breed of wild horses roaming in Thalija. A land known for its richness of colorful horse breeds like the Tharkja Pond horses and the Khimaira Friesians.

The wild Darona Paints live in a pretty secluded land and have not come in contact with the other wild Herds of Thalija, but
time passed by and with the first successful taming attempts and adoptions outside a small group, the breed started to get lovers all around the world. The Darona Paints got registered and a new association was founded, providing papers to all Daronas in Thalija.
The goal of the association is to give all horse lovers the chance to get their own dream horse and they support everyone that wants to contribute to the breed.

The Association Program:

The association is actively supporting everyone that wants to own a Darona, giving out Ownership to people that can provide a safe space for the Horse.
First you need to register for an Ownership and you can decide if you want to adopt an older horse or if you want to own a foal.

There are many huge breeding stables all around the world contributing to the program, offering their fully trained offspring to be adopted.

Rules:
- All Tess Rules apply
- No rude behaviour in any way!
- There are no archives or Barns, so you need to keep track of your horses yourself
- For now I don't allow breeding with any other horse species
- Stallions have 10 and Mares 5 breeding slots

How to adopt:

There are two ways to adopt a Darona Paint and you can do so in visiting the adoption section or the breeding section and filling out a form.
You can either adopt an older horse form the adoption section
Or you can decide for a wild horse Sire and Dam and enter a breeding

Form for artist:

Chipgongs - WIP
by MustelaMars @ Tue Feb 03, 2026 4:09 pm [Reply]

Chipgongs have been an original species of mine for nearly 15 years, undergoing several ‘phases’ as I have matured and learned more about evolutionary biology. But they have always retained the basic Carnivora bodyplan, saber teeth with venomous saliva, and the large, fluffy tail that is actually composed of porcupine-like quills.

I have a comprehensive genotype guide and I want to do the art…but I have never ran a species before so I don’t quite know what I’m doing lol

Here’s a preview of them in full color:

┎-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------┒

What are Simas, exactly?

Simas are generally social mammals with average length fur and bright hearts.
Their body's skeletal structure matches one of a cat with its flexible spine and typically
lithe body frame, while the skull and paws resemble ancient canines such as a wolf- an
indicator of hybrid genes. Their fur is more abundant around their chest and neck and the
fur becomes more coarse as it reaches their tail, from abundant at the base to more coarse
until it's pure, soft velvet when it just reaches the jewel guard itself. Their jewel
acts as a weapon for self-defense as well as the guard, sharp against opponents and the
jewel is frequently kept clean for courtship and using their powers to their utmost
potential.

They are omnivores by design and an adult size ranges anywhere between an adult medium-
sized dog to a mountain lion- or, if their genes go back far enough, very rarely can they
be the size of tigers. It is unknown if there's any Sima larger than that.

They're often observed in groups, typically families between 20-50 Simas, or they've
formed groups based on the power of their jewel which can vary wildly in size. It also
isn't uncommon to find Simas living a solitary life. As a species, they're generally
docile and can coexist peacefully with other species, but genetically incompatible
if it ever came to interspecies breeding due to their hybrid nature.

Countless generations of breeding amongst their ancestors and with one another
resulted in random mutations gradually appearing in their kits which could result
in both benign and life-impacting results. Unstable genetics mixed with their jewel
powers, according to human studies, could also be a result of why kits have a
predisposition to being born with bodily mutations. Regardless, few deaths have
been recorded as a result of the curious traits they are born with.

      ┎------------- { overall guidelines;; } -------------

➸ Simas are a Closed Species, meaning you cannot make one without permission or a custom ticket.

➸ Simas & items obtained for free in events cannot be sold for USD, C$, CS pets or any form of currency. They may, however, be traded for other Simas and Sima items. It must be confirmed in the Archive update thread before it will be a valid trade.

★ There are instances where a free Sima may have art attached to them which was paid for in USD. Only in this case can a free Sima be sold for money. Permission must be given by the species owner before this can happen.

➸ Sima kits can age after 3 weeks of being created, but cannot breed until 6 weeks after they are created as they grow through adolescence.

➸ Simas can be co-owned by a max of two users and with permission from the staff.

➸ As of right now, you may only own one Special Sima (ex; #50's, #100's, or a runner up of either). You may not be gifted one if you already own one. *Note that there are two users who owned multiple special Simas before this rule was set in place and have been grandfathered in.

➸ Simas may no longer be heavily based off of copyrighted characters. Any existing Sima is not affected by this and won't be forced to be revamped. *However, if you'd rather revamp, pm one of the species owners. (12/16/2019)

➸ This is an LGBT+ friendly community, and any form of harassment or discrimination will not be tolerated.

➸ Be respectful and courteous to the community members around you and our staff. Do not harass or guilt-trip staff if you don't win a competition, and do not track down winners of an adopt to ask for the Sima. Respect goes both ways, so this also includes staff.

➸ If you're a community member who's been around since before May 2018 and weren't aware of our hiatus, and wish to have your Simas in the new archives so that you can use them, please pm corviidae or an available archivist with a list of the Simas you own (with proof of ownership if possible) and a comprehensive list of the items you own with proof. We will not take any items that were neglected to be added to the list, so make sure you have everything together.

➸ If a user doesn't explicitly offer their Sima(s) for breedings or trades, you are not allowed to pm them asking about their Simas in this way or make an effort to publicly track them down if they're inactive.

➸ 'Edit hunting', or trying to specifically trade a Sima of lower tier for a Sima with higher tier edits only is not allowed unless the user explicitly offers the Sima to you in return. You may not also 'hoard' Simas for the sake of trade fodder, as that is not what Simas are meant for. The same goes for items.

★ If a user initiates a trade with you, it is okay to offer lower-tier items/simas for higher tier-- but if they say no, you must respect this answer and not push it unless they ask for more than that.

      ┎------------- { sima reference guidelines;; } -------------

➸ Simas must always have a reference without accessories for breeding and archiving purposes.

➸ It is recommended that Sima owners have their Sima references saved in case of our archives being taken down without warning by toyhou.se or DeviantArt, or if the creator of the Sima deletes the original file.

➸ You may draw your own reference for your Sima, however, you must include a list of the edits the Sima has that is different from the main lines-- and the reference must be posted for approval.

➸ All Sima references must have a list of their edits and the rarities of their edits either on the reference or in the description. This includes Main Adopts, Nursery batches, MYOs/Staff Customs and transfers/agings.

      ┗------------- { ^^^^^^^^^^^^ } -------------

Image

      ┎------------- { sima limit guidelines;; } -------------

➸ The amount of Simas you can own has no cap, but there are monthly limits.

★ You may only win 4 main adopt Simas per month. Rescuing a Sima has it's own guidelines and you can find it on that thread.

★ You may only obtain 5 Simas through gifting/trading/buying per month.

★ You can obtain only 10 kits per month from the Nursery, so breed wisely. Waiting to keep a kit until the next month rolls over is discouraged, but not illegal. A kit must have a home within a month of being created.

➸ Once you obtain a Sima, you may gift, trade or re-adopt them after a 1-week cooldown. You may breed the Sima after a 2-week cooldown.

➸ Remember, any gifting, trading, re-selling or re-adopting must be approved by a staff member.

      ┗------------- { ^^^^^^^^^^^^ } -------------

      ┎------------- { staff guidelines;; } -------------

Artists may not discriminate against members of the community or make biased decisions in adopts. If an artist feels they might make a biased decision on a competition (whether you like or dislike a community member) or if an admin suspects it, another artist should step in to help judge.

➸ When making Join.me games or any thread-related games, you are not allowed to be in any call with members who are participating in the game.

➸ You may not force the Sima you're adopting out (free/paid adopt, an orphan.) to have a certain sexuality or a set way of identifying themselves. It should be up to the contestants trying out for the Sima. Adopts and nursery batches may have a set biological sex but should be fluid to change with a biological sex change item if it's available.

Moderators assist the species owner and co-owners with answering questions, approving MYOs (legendary+ MYOs must also be run with the admins), handing out warnings, and enforcing rules. It is also your responsibility to help admins watch Nursery tickets to ensure the cooldowns are over and to notify the artist taking tickets in case they didn't notice. This also goes for watching tickets if they're taken on DeviantArt and monitoring cooldowns if any Simas are won over on that website.

Nursery Artists have a right to decline tickets if they do not meet our guidelines, or under private circumstances which must be discussed with one of the species owners. Keep in mind the number of times legendary edits/rare edits have been passed by a parent(s) before you roll for it. If you open raffle tickets, do not do it multiple times in a row.

➸ Screensharing is currently allowed when making adopts and nursery batches and suggestions for nursery batches are only allowed in the instances where the artist asks for it. Even in this case, suggestions are to be taken with a grain of salt.

➸ A note: All staff who stayed active and reliable throughout the year will receive a special custom in place of their usual custom in the month of December.
★ The activity of the staff is judged by corviidae, and is a case by case basis.

★ This special custom contains x1 Mythical Edit, x2 Legendary Edits with unlimited rare and below edits. Must be approved by all three of the admins. It cannot be sold at this time and must be relinquished to the owner of the species or have a proper owner confirmed in the case of gifting.

      ┗------------- { ^^^^^^^^^^^^ } -------------

Image

      ┎------------- { guest staff guidelines;; } -------------

Guest Artists must get any Sima they create with edits approved by an official artist, mod, or one of the species owners.

Guest Artists should create up to at least a mixture of 10 common/uncommon Simas before you make a Sima with a rare edit. After you make that rare Sima, the amount of common/uncommons you need to make resets.

➸ For all guest staff to earn their keep for the month, guest artists must make at least 6 Simas and guest nursery artists must make at least 6 batches.

★ You earn a MYO with 4 rare edits, unlimited uncommon and common edits, and potentially a permanent position.

Guest Nursery Artists must get their batches approved by an existing Nursery Artist before being posted unless the batch kits have no edits.

      ┗------------- { ^^^^^^^^^^^^ } -------------

      ┎------------- { staff earnings;; } -------------

➸ Staff have free reign of the type of competitions they want to create for adopts, but the earnings vary based on their work. The tier of the reward will raise based on how many batches/adopts/agings you do, which is a 3-6-10 rule.

★ -- the lowest tier Staff Custom are x1 MYO with unlimited rare and below edits. Must be approved by the species owner and at least one other co-owner before it becomes an official Sima. Earned after you make 3 adopts/nursery kits/agings per month.

★ -- Medium tier Staff Customs are x1 MYO with 1 legendary edit and unlimited rare and below edits. You must make at least 6 adopts, nursery kits or agings/transfers per month to earn this tier.

★ -- Max tier Staff Customs are x1 MYO with 2 legendary edits and unlimited rare and below edits. You must make at least 10 adopts, nursery kits or agings/transfers per month to earn this tier.

★ Low tier Staff customs may stack after earning them for 3 consecutive months and be redeemed for a custom with x1 Legendary edit. 4 consecutive months can stack for x2 legendary edits total and no more. Old staff customs are grandfathered in and unchanged.

★ Legendary staff customs can go for a max of $15 USD, and unlimited rare staff customs go for a max of $10 USD and no more unless you bought art for the staff custom for USD only and that art comes with the custom. In this case, you need to contact a species owner so we can discuss it.

★ Note: You may purchase x1 legendary edit in the store every 3 months to put on your MYO. Otherwise, you may only purchase uncommon or common MYOs from our DeviantArt shop.

      Additional Information

➸ [ Archivists ] - get median tier staff custom monthly for work within the archive.

      ➸ [ Aging Artists ] -- || 3 agings/transfers -- low tier || 6 agings/transfers - med. tier ||10 agings/transfers -- max tier ||
        ★ complex edits count as 1 aging/transfer
★ complex designs count as 1 aging/transfer, so one Sima with these criteria could equal 2 agings/transfers
★ credit for work is given if screenshot wips are provided in discord chat with a timestamp but aging isn't finished.
      .

➸ [ Nursery Artists ] -- For the month of June, we'll be experimenting with the number of kits instead of the number of batches.

Wolfe wrote:Hello there traveler! I'm Wolfe, a Cloud Catcher! Hmm? What are Cloud Catchers? Well we are dragons that live in the sky, usually living between the clouds. We chase clouds around and can change the weather based on our emotions. We can make them disappear by flying through them; Make bigger ones by putting them together; and make storms depending on the type of cloud- We are plenty big enough for a human to ride upon us, and we usually quite friendly creatures. We live in groups and love socializing. We can speak languages, write, and read! We also have ability to create tools to aid us in our survival, making us very intelligent creatures, ha!

Something in the forest is stirring. Something is coming to destroy
    the world.
The woods become haunted with dangers at night. The once
peaceful land of Galvon has become a place of fear.

Will you fight against the Shadows, or join its growing power?
Your choices change what others might experience.
Your decisions will change how this story ends, or continues.

Its up to you what you will do.

Getting started, and how to play.
To start, you dont need to do very much. You simply need to fill out
a form, which will help choose your Founding Dragon.

Below all this text is the form, however i recommend reading this through before filling it out and posting it. (Its important to know what you're doing!)
You can find dragon species and their markings, colors, and traits in the Encyclopedia.
text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text

    +▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬+
    Various info
This may seem a little overwhelming at first, however i hope that
this will clearly explain what this is and how to play.

In short, Guardians of Galvon is a adoptable species "game," in
which you collect dragons, train them, join a team, and battle
and explore to decide the fate of a world called Galvon.

What you do, even if its small, could change a lot about
the future of this game. Yes, that sounds very intimidating,
but most of the time you wont have to worry much about
the side-effects of what you choose.

This "game" is in the perspective of your own colony of
Dragons. (At this point in time there is only one dragon
species, however more will be added later on.) There
is no specific "goal", but you will likely spend most of
your time in this on exploring.

Exploration in this game is highly encouraged, your
dragons cannot die, (if sickness if enabled, they can get sick)
so go wild with your choices! Exploring will reward your team with
points, and will give you items! (And possibly a dragon, if your lucky)

For more detailed information, check out the Encyclopedia

Bone | +2 health stat to dragon doing an activity
These are the teams

Welcome to the Kalon Nusery!
This is where Kalon parents come to obtain little kits of their own! Occasionally you may also find some orphaned babies in need of adoption!
You can post a nursery ticket only when an artist had posted they're opening slots. Keep an eye on the thread to catch openings!
You may mark this thread once, but please do not bump the thread otherwise.

✦ Kalons can breed in groups of two or three, regardless of sex.
✦ Kalon breedings do not have to be "in character", but kits and parents will be considered blood related in species records.
✦ Kits that have not had an official growth approved cannot breed. Users cannot seek breedings with Kalons until they have an approved growth.
✦ Incestuous pairings cannot breed. This includes both Kalons that are blood related in species record, and Kalons that are known to be related in character.

✦ Kalon batches can result in 1-4 kits.
✦ Unless using specific Kalon breeding items, the number of kits in a batch and the traits passed down to them from the parents will be determined using RNG and the percentages found here.

✦ Kalons have a maximum of three free breedings. A fourth breeding slot may be purchased from the Kalon shop.

✦ Make sure your proof of breeding agreement includes parents and items being used as agreed upon between all users involved in the ticket.
✦ Editing or double posting will disqualify tickets in raffles/FCFS slot openings.
✦ Kalons must be either on oekaki or registered in our TH archive before they can be used in a breeding ticket.
✦ Users must wait one week after obtaining a Kalon before they can breed it.
✦ Users must wait one month after a nursery ticket has been accepted before trying out for a new one. Cooldown starts when the ticket is accepted, not when the batch is posted.
✦ Any items being used in a breeding must be on the ticket at the time of posting. Items must be in a user's bank before being used.
✦ Users may supply an item for a breeding in which they do not own any of the parents, however this will count towards nursery cooldown.

✦ If at least a month has passed and a user cannot get into contact with the artist who took on their nursery ticket, they may contact the species owner to find a new artist for the ticket.

✦ Once a Nursery Batch is posted, kit fates must be determined and agreed upon between the users involved in the ticket. If an agreement cannot be reached, a Staff Member can be contacted to roll fates publicly in the Kalon discord.
✦ Fates of kits must be posted on their NB thread to be official and for all ownership cooldowns to start.
✦ Kits may have an official growth approved one month after their batch has been posted.

As you wander through newly formed planes, you stumble upon a quiet, unassuming world. There is nothing here but a small collection of glowing artifacts, carefully displayed within glass cases.

As you study each item, the words on its display begin to shift and scramble in your mind, revealing what each artifact is capable of. You get the sense that this place does not care where currency comes from; only that something of value is offered in exchange.

You may buy items with C$, USD, or art.
  • However, we do not accept pets, as large trades can be overwhelming and it is difficult to share with the Fractured Prides staff equally. As per CS rules, USD may only be discussed off-site. The price of art is determined by the shop runners.

When paying in art, you may choose to give it to any staff member.
  • Items will only be awarded when art has been received, or if there is a large amount of trust between the artist and staff member. Staff members MUST inform someone under the "Staff" subsection for approval if this is the case.

Please wait until your post is approved before adding an item to your inventory.
  • When it is approved, you will see it added in the archive under your name in 5-7 days.

    Each item is one-time use.
  • Once you use the item, it is considered spent. Everything should be tracked by the archive in case you lose track.

MYO items create lions with unlimited traits from that rarity and below.
  • Unless you add an extra trait item, you may only use traits from that rarity and below. So, an uncommon MYO can have unlimited uncommon, common, and non-rarity traits.

Trait items only add a single trait of that rarity.
  • Trait items can be added to existing lions, or be added on during litters or MYOs. For example, you may make an uncommon MYO with a Rare Trait item, and only add a single rare trait. Or even a non-rarity MYO with 1 legendary trait from an item.

For C$ purchases, please send the trade to me, hugs100.
  • I keep track of every transaction, and I make sure to give all staff the appropriate amount, as can be confirmed in the Archive!

For USD purchases, please contact me, hugs100.
  • You may reach out via Discord [noodlenumies], or pm me for other options.

A small crystal fragment humming with residual magic. Attaching it to a creation artifact allows a single trait to echo into the new plane. The shard fractures and goes inert once used.

This small charm pulses with unstable magic drawn from beyond a plane’s limits. When used, it allows a cub to grow past those boundaries, manifesting a trait of higher rarity than their parents. Once its magic is spent, the charm crumbles in your hands.

Balligon Adopts

species credit to boat

What is a Balligon ?
A Balligon is an alligator, bat, dragon hybrid. They have short fur and and scaley areas, such as their ears, chests, bellies, and their tails. Balligons have long, sharp claws that they use for catching food, defending themselves, and for fighting, though they don't fight too often. They usually live in small groups of about 3-5. All Balligons have two small bells on their tails. They aren't used for anything, but all Balligons have them, whether they found them or they were passed down from their parents. They most like to be around water, as they love to swim and catch fish.

Perrites || O p e n based on this drawing by Darastrrix
by ShadyBro @ Sun Mar 13, 2022 4:08 am [Reply]

ImageImage
Discord || Archives || Items || Artist Search || Traits || Breedings || Customs || Competitions || Adopts
Perrites, also known as Petite Cloven Fowl, are a diminutive and highly social bird-like equine native to the deep jungles of Southeast Asia. Standing around five to seven hands at the shoulder, they are just barely the size of an average domestic chicken. They are often kept in large flocks as guard animals to other livestock due to their protective nature and loud warning calls. Coming in a wide variety of colorful coat variations they are also kept as flashy indoor exotic pets by some, though they can be demanding by nature and difficult to train. However you aim to keep them, as long as they have a flock to socialize with and are given plenty of room to roam, perrites can be very loyal animals toward humans and quite fulfilling to care for.

_________________________________________

Adopt Rules
- Perrites are a closed species; you may not make your own customs or breedings for any reason
- There is no limit to how many you may adopt nor any cooldowns
- Perrites have no breeding slot limits or breeding cooldowns
- Sex cannot be visually changed (ie horns/antlers on bucks), however you're welcome to give them different pronouns
- Line edits and item additions are allowed by artists; but adopters may not alter their perrites themselves nor ask for edits
- A storage page is required to be able to breed, create customs, or enter shows, but not for regular adopt comps (storage example)
- Users may not sell their perrites for more than they spent on them, and the currency must stay the same (bought for C$, sell for C$, ect)
- Users can however sell breeding slots from their perrites for C$ or USD at whatever cost they deem fit
- To sell/gift/trade just notify the current active archivist and inform them of the transfer, then post with a link to the new owner on the perrite's adoption page to notify the artist

_________________________________________

Species Notes
- Native to Asia, like their very distant avian cousins the red jungle fowl
- Often described as canine or fox-like in their behaviors during play and socialization
- When angered or play hunting, both bucks and hens may behave like an unruly rooster chasing away threats - watch your ankles!
- First imported to Mexico and sold widespread as exotic pets leading to their odd mis-communicated name (little doggy, bird doggy, chicken puppy, etc)
- Very smol, like 5 to 7 hands SMOL, with min being 4.3 and max being 7.3 (though you can breed for shorter or taller!)
- Though their jaws look almost entirely equine, their teeth are more like that of toothed birds with short serrated ridges (and have you ever seen a goose's tongue? well..yeah don't let a perrite lick your face perhaps..)
- Lifespan in the wild averages about six to eight years, less for unique traited or male perrites; in captivity with proper care that lifespan increases dramatically to fifteen to twenty average. Hens notably live a decent bit longer, with the eldest female perrite recorded being twenty nine!
- Adult males are called Bucks, adult females are called Hens, young bucks are called Cockerals, young hens are called Pullets, and newborns are interchangably called foals or chicks (in some places 'chick' is used purely for newborns while 'foal' is more often used after theyve passed their first week)
- Bucks have horns/antlers/etc of some sort, which can be anything from rams horns, unicorn horns, rhino horns, goat horns, elk or deer antlers, bull horns, or really anything one can think of!
- Bucks can have unnatural coats themed after any kind of bird, or regular horse designs
- Bucks can also have a combo of bird & horse markings mixed together
- There are a variety of unique traits that can add unnatural effects as well
- Hens have no horns/antlers/ect
- Hens can only show horse based coats, no bird coats
- There are a few main tail types, including peacock (most common) as well as rooster, racket, and archaeopteryx, with new tails sets continuing to be found as the species grows
- Feathering can be any natural-esc color/pattern, usually themed after birds, but it can be anything
- Newborn foals are mainly insectivores, but they eat more vegetation-based diets as adults
- Favorite foods include a variety of sea algae, soft meadow grasses or clovers, tree bark when food is scarce, and their most beloved ; any sort of mushrooms! (Their digestive systems are even capable of handling severe toxins from normally 'deadly' species of fungi, though that doesnt make them taste any better..)
- Soft curly down-feather texture for body hair with bristly horsehair textured manes (colorful/hyper pigmented mane hairs seem to be softer however)
- They have curled marwari ears, and their hearing is a bit poor. They are often born with their ears curled up and laid flat against their crests, making them almost completely deaf for a few weeks as the cartilage stiffens and they loose their protective inner ear floofs. This 'poof' on their heads rather than any ears, as well as the matching tail 'poof' before their big feaathers come in, is why perrites under a week old are so often called 'chicks'. 'So ugly they're cute' is pretty on par for perrites as well as the average freshly hatched bird lol
- Cloven hooves that need regular trimming if not exposed to rocky surfaces, the toes of which are extra tough on bucks and often become dangerously sharp over time if neglected. Buck horns also tend to need some management depending on the type, especially if they don't have other bucks around to spar and playfight with in order to wear their horns down
- They make chicken noises, bucks can crow like roosters. Some perrites after a few generations of breeding in domesticity have been heard making broader parrot-esc ranges of sounds, even getting close to mimicking human speech and tunes like large parrots! They can also create noises similar to clicks or knocks with their tongues, useful for communicating long distances with flock members
- Live in large flocks and are super social (so you better adopt a lot of them to keep them happy)
- Bucks often lead a small flock but pair up with other bucks to create larger family units, and can be safely kept together domestically if done correctly (one buck per three hens advised)
- Mountain-goat-like agility, defying the laws of physics always, often finding themselves sleeping perched on roofs or tree branches, and master escape artists - good luck keeping them consistntly contained!

_________________________________________

Artist Rules
- Artists may come and go as they please, there is no activity rules/limits
- There is no max price you may charge for an adopt or custom, all currencies are permitted
- May make one personal custom a month, two if you post 10 free adopts/breedings for the community in that month, of any rarity/type/etc
- May do your own breedings as often as you please within reason
- Can do line edits or add items as you please as long as they follow the main rules;
- No massively changing the species (ie no weird mutations/wings/other species body parts/removing fur-feathers/etc - premade lines for new varieties might offer things like this in the future)
- No saddles or other riding specific tack (they're the size of chickens, who would that be for? lol) or robotic parts/things that mimic the body edit no-nos such as wings or extra limbs (this may be reserved for special events in the future)
- Yes to (but not limited to) roman or dished noses, extra foot feathering (or altered boots), new tails (must be avian themed but can be anything bird-like!), edited (but not full removal of) crest feathers, edited ears (within the equine/bovine/cervidae/etc category only), changing mane texture and length, beards, extra fluffs, feathering in extra places like on elbows/spines/cheeks/etc (or altered runner feather placement), changing eye shape/pupils, adding whiskers, adding extra or custom lined horns/antlers/teeth (bucks only as always), or adjusting body shape/weight such as mini pony stature etc
- Remove background/foreground once adopted to provide transparent images (you may make a color-in version with the background still on if you like, especially for those with the 'Glassy' gene)
- Unique traits should be kept relatively rarer than the average natural coat
- Adopts and imports may not contain more than two unique markings; breedings can contain any number
- Must follow species guidelines closely; if unsure, just ask!
- For filling out the sections;
Coat Type = Equine, Avian, Hybrid (if a combination of both), and if the coat includes any of the unique marking it should include 'Unique' in front (ie 'Unique Avian', 'Unique Hybrid', etc)
Coat Color = The color/marking names (this should be as realistic as possible) ie 'Black Overo', 'Blue Budgie Tobiano', 'African Grey', ect
Horn Type = Whichever horn lineart is chosen. If it's custom lined, name it whatever the horns are inspired by. If a hen, list it as 'None'
Eye Color = Enter whatever fun color name you would like! This can be anything from simple one word answers like 'red' to entire quotes/lyrics/nonsense words. No limitations! Heterochromia of all sorts is also totally allowed.
Tail Type = Whichever tail lineart is chosen. If custom lined, name it whatever species the tail is inspired by.

Breeding Rules
- Must have an updated storage page ie an Aviary of some sort in order to request a breeding (to track offspring)
- Only buck x hen breedings are allowed naturally, unless a rainbow ticket is used
- No cooldowns or slot limits for any perrites
- Will only produce one offspring per breeding, no twins (unless the stud has won the twin bonus trait via shows)
- Inbreeding parents to offspring or full sibling to full sibling is not allowed; further relatives do not matter
- Line edits pass at artist discretion only and are not guaranteed, you may not request edits to be passed nor any markings/colors
- Gender and height are randomly rolled by the breeding artist; there is a 25% chance of rolling buck, and a 75% chance of rolling hen
- Feather coloration will be a mix of both parents in some way
- Base coat will often be slightly randomized, often adding new markings or variation through the lineage (ex; a solid coat x solid coat may produce a tobi baby at random, things of that nature)
- Horn types on bucks will be directly inherited from the sire, this will not change unless a keratin ticket is used
- Unique traits have a 25% chance of passing onto offspring; if both parents have the same trait, it is still only a 25% chance roll
- To use gifted/traded slots, include a screenshot of the owner of the perrite granting you permission (quotes will not count)
- Do not PM artists about slots! Artists will post here with a form to fill out when they have decided to open some breeding slots. Never pester or ask artists to open slots just for you.

Why hello new Shady adopts. I love that the bucks can have flashy bird coats like how most male birds have flashier coats than females, and all the little details you've already formed about how these guys develop/their personalities.

Not Quite Dogs

Not Quite Dogs
Main | Nursery | Archive | Store

You enter the adoption shelter, looking around with interest at the large offering of dogs that the owner has. The tags are all written in some language you can't quite place, and the dogs themselves seem a little .. odd. The owner is there, hovering by the register, a too-sharp-smile fixed on his face, with too-sharp-teeth flashing at you. You can tell he's eager, but for what you don't really want to know.

You smile back hesitantly, watching as his own expression widens in response. Holding back a shiver, you turn back to the kennels, checking out each dog within. There's a wide variety here, ranging from massive beasts to strange little things to - is that an African Wild Dog? No. You shake your head, it looked similar at first but it couldn't possibly be one.

As you continue your wanderings, you realize something with a start. These creatures? They're not quite dogs.

WIP! They're basically going to be my take on a bunch of dog-like cryptids, feel free to suggest any that aren't on the list!

Adopting | OPEN
The shopkeeper stretches at his desk, watching as you approach with your questions. He listens as you inquire about the adoption process and nods along at the end. "So basically you and all the other applicants will throw your hat into the ring for a dog, and then I'll sort through all the forms to see who I think is the best fit. There's no real limit on how many you can apply for at once, and I suppose as long as you have the space for them, there's no real limit to how many you can adopt." He pulls what looks like a store catalogue over. "Each dog comes with a free collar - or harness - something to hold their tags. I'll provide the current proof of vaccination and a name tag, but you'll need to register them with your town afterwards. You can change their accessories all you want after they're yours, just don't change the dog itself." He winks but you stare, wondering how one could go about changing a dog. "Oh, and if you find you can't handle any of my dogs, return them here, okay? Don't hand them off on an unsuspecting stranger."

The Nursery | CURRENTLY CLOSED
You noticed all the dogs here are fully grown and, curious, ask the shopkeeper if he has any puppies for sale. "Puppies?" He laughs. It's a weird laugh. You don't know how to feel about it, let alone respond. "Eh, yeah, every now and then I'll pick up one of those little rascals. You'd be surprised how exceedingly uncommon it is to find any of these dogs before they're fully grown." You think to yourself that you wouldn't exactly call any of his dogs common in the first place, but don't comment. He's giving you a weird look. You wonder if he can read your mind, or if you're just that obvious. "Look, I'll put up a sign when I have any, but as of right now I don't have the proper set up to handle puppies." His voice is still friendly, but you get the distinct feeling that you're being dismissed. You thank him and hurry away.

The Store | VISIT
Outside of the dogs, you notice a section by the register that has a collection of odd items. Glancing around, you don't immediately spot the shopkeeper to ask him about them, and so go over to check out the shelves yourself. You reach out to grab a bottle, wanting to get a better look at the label, but the shopkeeper materializes at your elbow and slaps your wrist. "Ey - those aren't for sale. Yet. Wait until I can figure out how to make it safe for mortals to handle." You back up, spooked, and apologize, but he already lost interest in you and is distracted with paperwork at his desk. Did he just call you a mortal? Was that some sort of power play? Isn't he one as well? Unnerved, you go back to the dogs.

Update: store is now open!
Update 2: Church Grim have been added!

Andean Wolf | "Hagenbeck's Mountain Dog"

Image
Description: dog-ish in appearance, this creature is reported to be found primarily in Myanmar. It's characterized by its short, grey fur, darker muzzle, rounded ears, and thin tail. It comes in both a large and small variation but the shelter seems to only have one size. The shopkeeper won't specify which

Lifespan: 8-12 years in the wild, 14-16 years in captivity
Weight: 24-54 lbs (11-24.5 kg), a "medium" dog?? This doesn't help you tell which size variation he has as much as you hoped, as the majority of the ones he has are 30-44 lbs (13.5-20 kg)
Height: the shopkeeper's are 21-23in (53.5-58.5 cm) at the shoulder

Jiao
Image
Description: a dog-like creature found in 玉山, it's characterized by its leopard-spotted coat, ox-like horns, and signature bark. To see one is representative of tranquility/peace

Salawa | "Sha"

The Beaumont Collie is a working breed perfected on the Blue Beaumont Ranch, known for producing bison/cattle crosses and the dogs to herd them. The three major breeds used to develop this breed were the border collie, kelpie, and the blue lacy, making them a versatile hybrid cross.

Avg. Height: 17-21 in
Avg. Weight: 30-45 lbs
Color: all colors allowed
Coat: smooth, rough, curly, furnished, wire

The Beaumont Collie is an adaptable breed suited to a variety of tasks. Temperament varies throughout the breed, but all collies should be handler-driven, eager, intelligent, loyal, alert, and willing to work - these dogs thrive in an enriching work environment where they are allowed an outlet to express themselves. While suitable as a family pet, collies are high energy and need to be a 'dog with a job'. The breed is especially suited to sports and service work due to their capacity to learn and motivation by praise. Individually, personalities may range from calm and collected to vivacious and active, which allows for their wide spectrum of work.

Welcome to Panthera!

Panthera is an ARPG dedicated to Arkylian Riding Panthers, also known as ARPs, Panthers, or simply Riding Cats. Arkylian Riding Panthers are a domesticated species of big cats that, as their name suggests, are large enough and strong enough to be ridden. These cats have been domesticated on Arkylia for centuries, and now come in three main breed types:

Saddlebred Panthers resemble cheetahs in build, and are well-known for their speed and endurance.

Warmblood Panthers, hailing often from colder climates, have a body built like that of a Snow Leopard. Their agility and ability to climb are unmatched.

Draft Panthers are the heavyweight breeds, with a stocky build most resembling that of a tiger. They are easily able to carry heavy loads, and are fierce hunters.

Interested in adopting one? Feel free to browse our open Adopts, or keep reading for information on earning Custom Slots or Claiming a pair of Founders! Once you have a Panther, why not send it out to Explore? Exploring earns you Alchemical Reagents you can use to craft potions over at the Alchemy Lab! Or maybe you want to draw or write about your new character? If you do, don't forget to stop by the Activities thread and submit your creation to earn Arkylian Coin (Ⱥ), which can be used at the Shop to buy Custom Slots and randomized Panther Genos!

Guidelines

Users participating in Panthera may not harass other users for any reason. This includes asking for characters/items that are not for sale, passive aggressive behavior, complaining about the outcome of a competition, or similar actions.

Panthera's linearts may not be used for anything other than work for Panthera. Please do not use the linearts to design random adopts or characters on.

Users may gift or trade their Panthera characters and items as they see fit, however, Panthers obtained for free cannot be sold.

Users may freely use their Panthera characters out of the ARPG however they see fit, creating new lore, changing the design, adding accessories, etc, however, players may not edit the original reference without the explicit permission of the designer.

Panther Rarity

Arkylian Riding Panthers come in five Rarity Tiers, which correspond to what Magic Element they may have, as well as what Unnatural Mutations they may display. A Panther's Element will determine which Exploration Biomes they will be most suited to. Unnatural Mutations are mutations which were induced magically, either through exposure to intense magic during development, or through the consumption of a Potion.

Standard:
No Element.
No Unnatural Mutations.

Common:
Water, Earth, Air, or Fire Element.
Possible Mutations: Mammalian Tails, Mammalian Ears, Mammalian Paws, Iridescence, Feather Accents

Uncommon:
Life or Death Element.
Possible Mutations: Horns, Scales, Glowing Parts/Markings, Reptilian Feet, Fin Accents

Possible Mutations: Hooves, Extra Eyes, Extra Mouths, Reptilian Tails, Avian Feet

Mythic:

Possible Mutations: Wings, Skeletal Parts, Elemental Transfiguration, Extra Heads, Extra Limbs, Other Feet, Other Tails

Obtaining Panthers

Arkylian Riding Panthers can be obtained in one of several ways: Founders, Adopts, Customs, MYOs and Genos.

Adopts
Adopts are made by Panthera's Artists, and adopted out via various competitions. Adopts will always be Purebred of one of the three breeds, and may come in any rarity- though higher rarity adopts will be less common. Some examples of possible adopt competitions include:

First Come, First Served (FCFS) - A competition wherein the first user to post a fully complete, correctly filled out form wins! Generally you will be disqualified from FCFS competitions if you edit your post- even if you did manage to post before anyone else!

Raffle - A competition wherein users may post a form, usually with a set end date or end page, and once the end condition is met, every user who entered the competition has a chance to win!

Prompt - A competition wherein the Artist details a prompt that users must fulfill in order to try to win the Adopt. Prompt competitions will have a set end date or end page. After the end condition is met, the entries are assessed and the winner is decided by the artist.

There can be other competition types as well, these are just the main three you will likely see here in Panthera! One last thing to know is that for each page of replies an adopt has, the artist will grant one Honorable Mention! These Honorable Mentions can be traded in for custom slots- you can read more about that system on the Alchemy Thread!

Founders
Panthera's Artists will periodically open Founder Slots, which are openings in which players can post Founder Forms.

Each player may claim one pair of Founders. These Founders will be a breedable pair- one Male and one Female. Founders are mostly Randomized, however players may pick out their Founders Breeds, Base Colors, and Elements- though Founders are limited to only the Common elements (None, Water, Earth, Air, or Fire).

Players may only ever claim one pair of Founders. Even if you trade or give your Founders away, you cannot claim another pair!

Players may claim their Founders at any point. Winning an Adopt does not disqualify you from getting your Founders!

If an Artist has Opened Founder Slots, you can fill out and post the form below to claim a pair of Founders.
Code: Select all
I'm Claiming My Founders!
Artist: (list the name of the artist you are posting the form for!)
Founder 1 (Male)
Breed: (you can choose one of the three breeds, or say "any" if you want a random breed!)
Base Color: (you can choose one of the twelve base colors, or say "any" for a random base!)
Element: (you can choose one of the common Elements, or say "any" for a random element!)
Founder 2 (Female)
Breed: (you can choose one of the three breeds, or say "any" if you want a random breed!)
Base Color: (you can choose one of the twelve base colors, or say "any" for a random base!)
Element: (you can choose one of the common Elements, or say "any" for a random element!)
Customs
Panthera's Artists will periodically open Custom Slots, which are openings in which players can post Custom Forms. In order to have a Custom made, you must either have a Custom Slot of the correct rarity, or pay the Artist the direct cost of the Custom Slot.

Custom Slots can be bought from the Shop Thread for Arkylian Coin (Ⱥ) or C$. You can also earn Custom Slots through collecting Honorable Mentions. You can find more info on Honorable Mentions in the Alchemy Thread!

Customs come in the same five rarities as detailed in the Panther Rarities section above. The cost of the different Custom Slots are as follows:
Standard: 300Ⱥ / 80 C$
Common: 450Ⱥ / 160 C$
Uncommon: 900Ⱥ / 240 C$
Rare: 1200Ⱥ / 320 C$
Mythic: 1800Ⱥ / 480 C$

If you want to order a Custom of a high rarity, but only have Custom Slots of lower rarity, you can choose to use your Custom Slot and directly pay the Artist the difference (i.e. using a Common Custom Slot + 450Ⱥ or 80 C$ to get an Uncommon Custom).

If an Artist has opened Customs, you may post the form below to claim a custom. Remember, if you do not own a Custom Slot, you will have to pay the artist directly with either Arkylian Coin or C$!
Code: Select all
I'm Claiming a Custom Slot!
Artist: (list the name of the artist you are posting the form for!)
Custom Rarity: (Standard, Common, Uncommon, Rare or Mythic)
Payment Method: (You can specify if you are going to pay the artist directly, or use a custom slot from your inventory!)
Breed: (Saddlebred, Warmblood or Draft)
Element: (None, Water, Earth, Air, Fire, Life, Death or Arcane)
Ears: (Short/Long Round/Pointed Normal/Tufted)
Mane: (None/Partial/Full Coarse/Silky Dark/Light)
Tail: (Long, Short or Bobtail)
Claws: (Normal or Overgrown)
Fangs: (Normal or Overgrown)
Color: (You can describe the kind of pattern you would like to see, as long as it's a pattern possible in IRL mammals! Our artists will assign appropriate genes to it)
Genotype: (OPTIONAL! If you want to specify your genotype, you can do so here, otherwise your custom will have an appropriate genotype assigned to it based on it's traits.)

MYOs
No adopts catch your fancy, having trouble catching an Artist's open Custom Slots, or maybe you just want to design your Panther yourself? If so, you can use any Custom Slot you own as a MYO slot instead!

Players may post a MYO form at any point, as long as they have a Custom Slot of the corresponding rarity that they wish to use. After you post your MYO form, you will be added to the Color-In list here on the Main Thread, so you can create your MYO.

Once your MYO is posted and confirmed, your custom slot will be removed from your inventory, and, provided you do not have any more pending MYOs, you will be removed from the main thread.

If you would like to make your MYO Off-Oekaki, that option is available! We have an Off-Oekaki PSD of the Panthera Lines available here. If you are on a mobile device and/or using a program with a low memory limit (such as medibang), we have a no-folders version of the PSD here. If your program will not load the full PSD with all three breeds, we also have split versions of the no-folders PSD for each breed: Saddlebred, Warmblood, and Draft.

Do note that even if you design your MYO Off-Oekaki, you must still post the form below, and you must still make a color-in of the main thread (even if you just make a sketch/cover for your MYO) so that your MYO is assigned an ID number and recognized as official.

If you'd like to make a MYO and have your Custom Slot ready, you can post the form below!
Code: Select all
I'm Making a MYO!
Custom Slot Rarity: (Standard, Common, Uncommon, Rare or Mythic)
Breed: (Saddlebred, Warmblood or Draft)
Element: (None, Water, Earth, Air, Fire, Life, Death or Arcane)
Ears: (Short/Long Round/Pointed Normal/Tufted)
Mane: (None/Partial/Full Coarse/Silky Dark/Light)
Tail: (Long, Short or Bobtail)
Claws: (Normal or Overgrown)
Fangs: (Normal or Overgrown)
Color: (You can describe the kind of pattern you would like to make, as long as it's a pattern possible in IRL mammals! Our staff will assign appropriate genes to it)
Genotype: (OPTIONAL! If you want to specify your genotype, you can do so here, otherwise your MYO will have an appropriate genotype assigned to it based on it's traits.)

Genos
Genos can be bought from the shop for Ⱥ, gotten from other players, or earned through Exploration. A Geno is like a voucher for a character- it has all the design information for a character, and just needs an Artist to design it!

When an Artist opens up Design Slots, users may post a Design Form to get one of their Genos designed. Genos have their own page in the Archive, so if you ever want to know what Genos you own, go ahead and search your username on the Geno Archive!

Genos can have Potions used on them to change various parts of their design when you submit a Design Form. You can find more information on different kinds of potions on the Alchemy thread!

If an Artist has opened Design Slots and you have a Geno you would like designed, you can fill out and post the form below!
Code: Select all
I'd Like my Geno Designed!
Artist: (list the name of the artist you are posting the form for!)
Geno: (Copy and paste the Geno info from the Archive into the list below!)
(paste your geno info here!)
Potions Being Used: (Specify any potions you are using here and, if applicable, what effect they have on your Geno!)

Frequently Asked Questions

These are questions which are commonly asked about Panthera. If you have a question, check here first to see if you can find the answer!

What is a Geno?
It is like the instructions for the character's design. A Geno, short for Genotype (the least amount of information needed), is the collective information used to design a Panther- namely, its breed, its genotype, and its corresponding phenotype. Think of them like a voucher for a full character. They aren't playable yet, because they haven't been designed and given a thread yet, but can be designed when an artist opens design slots!

How Do I Get Genos?
You can get Genos from the shop, from the (currently WIP) breeding system, and very rarely from Exploration!

Are these a Closed Species?
While only official Arkylian Riding Panthers can be used in our ARPG, Arkylian Riding Panthers themselves are just Cheetahs, Snow Leopards, and Tigers with a wide array of possible colors. Panthera obviously does not claim to own real life big cats. However, we would prefer if users did not copy our lore or genetics system to use in other communities.

Do I have to participate in the ARPG?
No, of course not! If you get a nice design that you just want to use as an OC, or even just want to collect big cat designs without ever interacting with the ARPG, you are completely free to do so. Panthera will never take away or readopt "inactive" characters unless requested directly by the owner of said character.

How do you tell if Founder/Custom/Design Slots are Open?
When a staff member is ready to accept Founder, Custom, or Geno Design Forms, they will announce it here on the main thread. The title of the thread may also change. Most of the time, the staff member will specify a certain number of Forms they are accepting, and of what type (i.e. "Opening 5 Founder Slots!" would mean that the first 5 fully and correctly filled out Founder Forms would be accepted). Once the staff member has accepted the desired number of forms, they will post again stating that their slots are closed.
