"Clementine?" she stops to think for a moment before letting a warm purr escape her muzzle," She smells like herbs of course, especially catmint!" Lynxlight nodded to herself, proud of her observations about Clementine's habits.




Kuvira cast an angry glance at you, a twinkle of curiosity hidden deep in their eyes. "I would..", he breathes," imagine maybe melons?" They relaxed his angry expression and offered a weak smile before jetting off out of camp. Never was the type to stick around and talk much anyways.




Hawkhaze stopped in their tracks, her fur rising against her neck,"Clementine? Horse dirt, she smells like horse dirt and car stink." They flicked her tail angerly, turning away to finish their meal. "My apatite must have disappeared thanks to you, now go bother someone else about *her*."




Bumbleberry stopped in their tracks, nearly tripping over their paws to turn around and answer," Clementine? Erm... I don't really think she smells specifically like anything. If I had to pick something I guess I would go with herbs-- her and Whorl are always hanging out. You should ask him." They smile warmly before gesturing over to the Spiritual Paw' area.




He looks up from the pile of herbs, which seemed to be a big jumbled up mess at the moment. "Morning dew, sometimes catmint when we go looking for herbs." He awkwardly shuffles up to his paws," Don't go telling her this but.. she sometimes comes back from hunting and smells a lot like catmint. She probably sneaks off to our secret patch and plays in it before actually doing her duties." He shyly smiles, avoiding eye contact with you," Thank you for asking me, I appreciate your effort toward figuring her out."

anchor 1: Hello, and welcome to Knollclan News Network! I'm Honeycurl, joined by my co-host Squirrelhop, bringing you the latest and greatest news!

anchor 2: I didn't really agree to this, you know.

Honeycurl: [ignoring this comment] We're here with the results of an exciting poll that has just been conducted within our very own clan! I'm sure all of you out there watching have been acquainted with our beloved neighbor Citric Acid, correct?

Squirrelhop: wait, who is-

Honeycurl: [still ignoring anchor 2] A burning question that has been on our minds recently is: what exactly is Citric Acid? And more importantly, what does it smell like? We have our finest reporter on the ground with real-time responses from our very own clanmates, here to get to the bottom of this pressing mystery. Over to you, Sundance!

Squirrelhop: what on earth is going on-

[the footage cuts away from the makeshift news studio, revealing an orange tom with messy fur, holding a microphone in front of another cat. The microphone is not actually a microphone, but in fact a stick.]

reporter 1: Sundance reporting in! Hello, Knollclan News Network! I'm here on the ground with members of our very own clan, to get the complete scoop. First up, we have Dawngaze! One of the clan's beloved healers. You've got a keen nose, don't you, Dawngaze? Comes with the territory of the job, I suppose. Can you weigh in for us- what do you think Citric Acid smells like?

Dawngaze: ...that's kind of an odd question, but if I had to recall... they usually smell like grass. They're out on patrol a whole lot, and whenever they come back it's like they've rolled in the grass. Quite overpowering, really.

Sundance: Thank you for your opinion! NEXT!

[Dawngaze is shoved uncerimoniously out of the way by the next cat]

Sundance: Hey there, Robinblaze! Fancy seeing you here!

Robinblaze: Happy to be here, Sundance!

Dawngaze: [from the ground] I'm still here, you know. That was rude.

Sundance: [ignoring this] ANYWAYS- Robinblaze! What do you think Citric Acid smells like?

Robinblaze: The river. They're always splashing around when we go walking past the stream, and come back into camp with this foul-smelling mud on them. It's awful, but sure is distinct.

Sundance: Wow! Sounds like Citric Acid sure is paws-on when it comes to being out on patrol! Thank you for your input, Robinblaze! Next!

[Robinblaze leaves; another cat takes her place.]

Sundance: Hiya, Cloverpaw! What do you think about Citric Acid?

Cloverpaw: Well, Sundance, as we all know, citric acid is a colorless organic compound that occurs naturally in citrues fruits, having the chemical formula of HOC₂, and-

Sundance: Whoa, there! I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm asking about our clanmate, the cat! What do you think Citric Acid smells like?

Cloverpaw: [visibly disappointed at his science rant being cut off] Oh. Hmm. I think Citric Acid smells like bubblegum.

Sundance: [with a slightly strained smile] Bubblegum! Of course! Another thing that I don't know what it actually is!

Cloverpaw: It's a twoleg thing. You wouldn't understand. But anyways, it's sweet, and chewy, and Citric Acid smells similarly sweet sometimes when they come back from patrols.

Sundance: I see. Thank you, Cloverpaw! We have one more live response before cutting back to you guys at the studio- our very own Rookstar, here to weigh in on this furious debate.

Rookstar: I'm still not quite sure what this is, but I'm happy to help.

Sundance: Knew we could count on you! That's a dependable leader for you, folks. Now, Rookstar- do you have any particular notions about what Citric Acid smells like?

Rookstar: Citric Acid? You mean HOC₂?

Sundance: No, the cat.

Rookstar: oh. They smell like a normal cat, don't they? Maybe with a hint of raspberry.

[Rookstar departs. Dawngaze's paw can be seen stretching up into the camera, giving a weak thumbs up. The camera quickly cuts back to Honeycurl and Squirrelhop, who is holding a stack of papers.]

Honeycurl: Grass, mud, bubblegum, and raspberry, oh my! Such a variety of answers- and we here in the studio have compiled all the answers sent in by viewers through our survey, to figure out once and for all what Citric Acid smells like. Squirrelhop- do the thing!

[Squirrelhop gives a long-suffering sigh, and throws all the papers into the air. As they flutter down to the ground, Honeycurl begins grabbing slips of paper at random and reading them.]

Honeycurl: Sunshine! Saltwater! Dirty socks! Coffee! A raccoon! Lemons! And- oh, what's this? "I don't think Citric Acid has a distinct scent much more than any other cat does, and I think that this is not truly a burning question or topic of debate, but that you rather made this topic up at random in an attempt to generate views?" Wow! Squirrelhop, isn't that funny?

Squirrelhop: [deadpan] Hilarious.

Honeycurl: Well, I think we've figured out what the answer is, once and for all! Drumroll, please!

Squirrelhop: Wait- how could you possibly have-

[Squirrelhop's protests are drowned out by a drumroll track. It is unclear where the sound is coming from.]

Honeycurl: BEES! Citric Acid smells like bees! That's our final verdict- thank you for tuning in to our investigation on Knollclan News Network! Now Squirrelhop, help me clean up all these papers!

Squirrelhop: I'm resigning.
