Tonni loved the fall season, almost as much as the messenger birds she kept in her shop. The birds liked it for the treats she brought back; she liked it for the Hallowed Eve celebrations. It was that special day of the year when the town shops closed early in order to decorate for the evening celebrations. Strings of flowers and bramble and baskets of harvest fruit. Mages created small balls of light that bobbed around in the air, creating a sky full of artificial fireflies.
Stalls were set up throughout town offering various foods, crafts, and games. Tonni, like her birds, was always partial to a nutty biscuit. She loved wandering throughout the town, the lights and glowing evening sky creating an excited atmosphere. It always gave her a warm feeling in her stomach, seeing the people come together. The children were a delight to see too; it was tradition for them to dress up as their favorite sprites, to honor and show respect for the magic beings that helped to protect their world and the nature within it.
More than anything, she loved the feeling of togetherness. This yearly celebration brought the township together; people of all ages coming together, enjoying the special things on offer and each other's company. The day was special already, created to honor the sprites, but every time Tonni saw her town come alive in the spirit of Hallowed Eve, it made her love the day all the more.
