The holly bears the crown...
The Holly and the Ivy is my second-favorite Christmas carol, so I decided to make this mare a sort of companion to the Carol of the Bells horse. In order to take her home, just write a few sentences to a paragraph about how she got the name you give her. Be creative; it can be a simple explanation or a story.

Short piece on how she got her name:
Holly was found in the dead of winter huddled beneath the boughs of a holly tree to try and stave off the bitter cold of the seasonal gales. There was no mare or herd in sight and by the looks of it, hadn't been for some time. The poor filly had to be no more than a few months old and was thin for her age. Kalten, the main stable hand for his barn, had been put in charge of her care once the rescuers delivered the small babe to the farm.
The young boy stayed with her, night after night with blankets and heated throws to try and revive her spirit. A spark would ignite in her eyes every time Kal fed her and he routinely did so every few hours without complaint knowing it was the only thing that kept her going. After the first few nights when her tremors subsided and she grew accustomed to her schedule and the presence of people, Kal had decided to name her. "Holly" He softly whispered to the other hands as they gathered round the stall, "She's just as tough and beautiful as the tree they found her under". She truely lived up to her name as well, the mare growing to become as lovely and resilient as her namesake.
(I'm sorry if it's too long! I have a writing problem ^-^;)
