Once Upon A Time;;
The alabaster, bright sun light glistened over the horizon, falling upon the rocky sand and smooth, navy blue ocean water flourishing with ocean life. Upon the said laid a meager plumerian in a silent doze, his face buried in his paws and his tail covered in sand. All of a sudden, he jerked awake and sat up, shouting. "That's it! That's my destiny!" The only response he was met with was some water from the waves hitting the shore running along his back paws. Blinking away the confusion, he barely realized it had only been a dream until he realized he was not at all wet, nor had a map. He rose to his paws and looked out to the sea, a sly smile crossing his face.
"There's a map out there.. It shows me my path, where I should go.. I need to find it... I've been so lost all my life." He whispered under his breath, turning around and padding into the woods behind him towards his tree house ; he was about to start the journey of his life time -- the one that would start his life fully. He approached a giant oak tree and hopped up onto a ladder dangling from the door of a tree house, quickly climbing up it. Once at the top, he walked over to his desk and sat down, grabbing a ball point pen from the cup to his right. He quickly tore a piece of paper from his notebook and began to sketch his plan, basically rewriting the dream step by step.
"Okay.. I need to make a boat... then travel 250 feet away from shore. Mhm.." After a few moments, Damien finished the map. Looking at the map he made, he smiled, feeling accomplished. "Finally I won't be lost anymore! You got this, Damien!" Damien exclaimed happily, tossing a few wads of paper in the air like confetti to celebrate. "I must get to work immediately!" He took the map and rolled it up, gently tucking it in his shirt before opening the door to the tree house and grabbing the ladder, sliding down.
He ran into the forest, heading for a camp fire he had previously seen. Stopping when he saw some ashes, he approached the once lively, now dead fire. Looking around, he saw a few logs scattered around. Damien used his paws to shove them all into one straight line, parallel, side by side. He carefully stood on top of them, trying to see how wide it would have to be. He managed to find one more log after determining it was too small. He repeated this process until he got the perfect size and tied it together with some ropes and vines that had been nearby. "Now.. how am I going to breath underwater.. wait, scuba gear! Of course! I think I might have some in chest at the tree house.." And sure enough, after travelling back, he did. "Okay.. ready.." He whispered, shaking with excitement. "Tomorrow's the day."
The next day was far more cloudy than the previous one, gray streaks blocking out the sunlight, although Damien wouldn't let this bring his hopes down, he had a life altering quest in mind. He had woken up early in the morning and pushed the make shift boat to the edge of the sand, letting one half of it float smoothly in the water. After putting on the scuba gear and tying a rope around his waist that connected to the log boat. He took in a sharp breath and looked down at the sand. "Goodbye, land." He jumped onto the log boat, his weight shifting it forward just enough so it would drift into the ocean water.
Laying down flat, he placed his front legs in the water and started using them to propel himself forward. He closed his eyes, trying to relive the dream. He remembered seeing a bright blue light where he was supposed to jump in the water, so he opened his eyes, looking around. No sign. After a few moments of rowing, he saw a blue light. Springing up onto all his fours, he secured the rope around his waist and leaned forward, confirming the blue light was in front of the boat. He dove in, spiraling downward towards the bottom of the ocean. When he reached the floor, a bright yellow light flew by his eyes and he closed his eyes, reliving the dream yet again. This was the right path. A smile appeared on his face and he wagged his tail up and down, swimming forward after the light. The light came an abrupt stop as a large group of fish swam by, swimming around Damien in a circle once before going off - a beautiful sight
The light then continued, and he followed After about 15 minutes of silence on the ocean floor, the light glowed brighter, but in one specific direction. Turning his head in the direction the light was pointing, he gasped. "There it is!" He exclaimed, smiling happily. He swam forward towards it and picked up the bottle that had his name engraved in gold and cursive on the side. "To, Damien." He swam back up to the boat, and once at shore, he popped the cork out of the bottle and took out the paper. While a little damp, the paper was still legible. He then started to read out loud.
"Young one, if you are holding this paper, it means you have either accidentally found it or saw it in one of your dreams. Like many others, you are probably lost and don't know where to go in life. Well, you see, it's not that simple. You make your path with every action you make, every word you say, every breath you take. Carve your path the way you make it, and may your path be the best for you." These words hit Damien hard, and he rolled it up, tucking it in his jacket.
