A Brief Introduction
Within the deepest reaches of a mysterious forest area, explorers have discovered a docile mammalian species with similar characteristics of a deer. Named 'Laurelei', these creatures have somehow become fused with a wide variety of plant life. No one knows what happened within the forest to have caused such a phenomenon, so in a quest for knowledge, scientists and adventurers alike have set up camps in the area to explore the forest and unlock the mystery behind these strange animals.

From the moment their first flowers bloom, each Laurelei is accompanied by a unique bird that keeps insects away from their delicate flowers. These birds are accurately titled 'the caretaker' because they are often more intelligent than their Laurelei, and also because Laurelei become quickly distressed without the presence of their avian companion.

Gender: Female
Story/Description: The studies show that Laurelei's are from forests. Why not a tropical forest? Shimmer is a fine Lei. Living in the rainforest with her Caretaker, Spark, she takes long strolls along beaches, and mainly eats forest grasses, berries, fruits, and leaves. The rainforest provides occasional rain, which is good to drink as apposed to salt water, found in oceans and seas. She and Spark love to swim and race along the soft sand. Shimmer also collects seashells to place around her neck. Not having fingers, she usually makes Spark put string from coconut bark connecting the shells. Spark likes to hop around the tall grass, and plays hide and seek with Shimmer. Shimmer is always the seeker, but sometimes she makes her own rules and ends up having to be found!

Story/Description:

Fallen pine needles crackled and snapped underfoot, the honey-brown needles pressing into the damp earth. Torren flared his nostrils and strode into the meadow, gingerly bending his head to feed on the soft spring grass.
His canary followed suit, pale yellow feathers glowing in the morning sun, a cheerful melody springing forth from it's open beak. It landed on Torren's burly shoulder and sang with contentment.

Torren's harsh, surveying gaze softened at her song. He lifted his head to nuzzle her and promptly began eating again.

Story/Description:
Kirai limped out of the woods, slumping against a nearby boulder, her caretaker nuzzling her horns to comfort her. Caretaker flew off her horns and tweeted, letting her know there was water nearby. She walked over to a nearby pond, drinking as much as her stomach could hold. she sat nearby the pond, attempting to sleep, knowing she could not walk with her pained leg after the long trek through the woods. She had another day's travel before she would get back to her village. Caretaker perched on her head, keeping watch over her flowers. She curled up, and after a while, she finally managed to sleep.

She opened her eyes with a start, forgetting she was in the forest. Caretaker still perched on her head, the soft glow of the sunset making the pond look like melted gold. She got up, getting ready to continue the trek, Caretaker flying in front of her, guiding her closer to the village. They continued they're journey, going forward towards the sunset.
