QUIESCENT
Basics:
Quiescent is an odd viscet for sure, thinking himself as the embodiment of the god Hypnos. As such, he is quite fascinated with anything having to do with sleep- especially nightmares. He refers to himself as a bringer of chaos, and as such uses his abilities to cause as much trouble as he can. He doesn’t physically hurt others, but he does attempt to unleash nightmares upon them with all the knowledge he has. Quiescent is a malicious force, although he doesn't ever do much damage, as he's delusional enough to think that he can cast nightmares upon other creatures.

Sometimes he'll spend some time in the trees, hanging out in a tree hammock. Favorites:
-food; Qui quite enjoys roasted chicken.
-why; As a young viscling, he was fed roasted chicken numerous times by a human who had taken notice of him, and to this day he still loves the taste of the meat, especially when it's fresh out of the oven.
-color; His favorite color is black, with grey coming in as a second favorite.
-why; There's not a really a story behind this one- his main color is black, so therefore it's his favorite color. He also likes the darkness that is made of the color black, and loves being surrounded by the dark.
-style of music; His absolute favorite style of music is soundtrack music, and he won't listen to anything else.
-why; The same human that fed Qui roasted chicken was also a total movie nerd, loving to watch as many as possible. Qui would simply curl up in her lap, eyes-wide, and watch them alongside her. She was always listening to the soundtracks of movies after watching them, hence his enjoyment of soundtrack pieces.
-book; Qui isn't much for reading- in fact, he doesn't even know how to read. But, his favorite book is still The Hobbit.
-why; When he was young, the human read to him sometimes, and the book he remembers most clearly is The Hobbit- probably because they also watched the movie.
-smell; He has only visited the ocean once, but even that single time was enough for him to decide that his favorite smell is the salty ocean.
-why; The scent of salt tickles Qui's nose, rejuvenating his senses. To this day, he has never smelled anything as amazing as the smell of the ocean, and still wants to go back some day.
-feeling; There are a lot of feelings that Qui doesn't like and thinks are foolish, but his favorite feeling is that of victory/accomplishment.
-why; He loves the raw surge of energy accompanied by succeeding, and he strives to win and succeed in everything he does just to experience the feeling.
-season; His favorite season would have to be Fall.
-why; It's only logical. His pelt is made up of mostly black fur, so in the Summer it gets way to hot for him. In Spring, he has bad allergies to pollen, causing him to sneeze and sniffle the whole season. In Winter, it gets way too cold for him, and he hates feeling cold. So, that leave only Fall.
-animal; Qui doesn't love a lot of animals, but an animal that he truly enjoys is a dog.
-why; When he still lived with his human companion, she had a dog, and Qui and it were the best of friends. They would play together all the time, until the dog eventually passed away due to old age. He'll never forget the fun times he had with that dog, and that's why dogs are his favorite animal.
-place; His favorite place in the whole world would have been a small house in a small human town a few years ago, but now it's shifted right over to his cave home.
-why; Qui grew up in the small house, living there for quite a few years, and it had been the only home he ever knew. In recent times, however, he has grown more and more distant ever since the human who once inhabited the home has long since moved away.
-favorite quote; Qui's favorite quote is, "'You have nice manners for a thief and a liar,' said the dragon", from The Hobbit.
-why; Every time Qui hears this line, he thinks of himself. He views himself as some sort of suave evil genius, and so of course he would jump at the chance to have a line from his favorite story describe him.
-favorite possession; His most favorite possession of his is the necklace that always dangles around his neck.
-why; Honestly, his favorite possession isn't that hard of a choice- his necklace is the only item he owns. He's had it since he was a viscling, and he believes it's some sort of good-luck charm, to protect him from nightmares.

History:
-known history- As far as Qui knows, he was abandoned at a very young age, left by his parents to die out in the wilderness. The young viscling managed to survive, however, but not on his own. He received help from a few of the other forest creatures, a pair of birds, a fox, and a herd of deer. He lived under their care and protection for the first year of his life that he can remember, and it was a very peaceful time. Alas, his happiness was not to last, as hunters came into the woods, stalking the herd for days. The deer sent Qui off with the fox, knowing they could not protect him should the hunters discover him. They lost four deer in total, and it wasn't a very big herd to start off with. The hunters were satisfied, and left, but soon more hunters came in their wake. The forest creatures came to the conclusion that they had to send Quiescent far from the forest, where no humans could ever find him. The birds and the fox set out with Qui in tow, leaving the forest as quickly as possible. They traveled for days on end, with Qui not knowing where they were going, why they were going, or when they would return to the forest. On a blustery evening, the fox set out to hunt, leaving Qui and the birds in a small cave. The fox never returned. After a day of waiting, the birds began to insist they move on without the fox, but the young viscling was adamant in staying and waiting. Frustrated, the birds tried as many tactics to get him to come as they could think of, from reverse-psychology to threatening him. Qui was unrelenting, and it took an event of great danger to get him out of the cave. A lone hunter passed through, stopping to make camp nearby. The two birds warned Qui of the danger, over-exaggerating what would happen if they were caught. While attempting to flee, they woke up the hunter, who fired three blind shots at the trio. One of the birds was hit, while the viscling fled in blind terror. The remaining bird and Quiescent were separated, and never saw each other again. Qui ran blindly for almost an hour, before collapsing into a sobbing heap. He just wanted to go back home to his herd, where all his friends were. He took shelter in a large cave, and spent a week hiding in the cave, not daring to come out. Although that time was rather hazy, he does remember finding his crystal necklace, and hasn't parted with it since. Eventually, when he was too weak to do anything, he was discovered by a pair of children who were exploring. Frightened, they ran for their parents, who called a local animal control service, as Qui was misidentified as a dog by the two children. Taking Quiescent into custody, they began to nurse him back to health, dumbfounded. There hadn’t been a viscet anywhere near here in years. Once he was strong enough, they released him back into the wild, although he stuck around the area where the town was. The humans there were nice enough, and would give him hand-outs if he begged enough. After falling into a dull pattern, it was a very shocking change when someone new moved to town. It was a single young woman in her twenties, along with a dog. Qui felt drawn to her, and before either of them knew it she had unofficially adopted him. He spent most of his days indoors, lying on the couch watching movies with the woman, or running around with the dog. They lived together for five years, and during the fourth year the dog die. Both of them were devastated, and that might have been the cause of the woman moving away the next year. She tried to take Qui with her, tried to explain what was going on, but there was a big species translation difference, and when she tried to coax him into a large dog crate, he fled. They never saw each other again. Qui took up residence in a near-by cave, waiting for the woman to come back, but after a year of her not returning, he grew bitter and hateful, developing more malicious and violent tendencies, until he was where he is now.
hh i'd just like to say a final good luck to all! there are some pretty wicked forms out there, and this is a pretty wicked viscet! i would love to be the owner of them, although with the quality of these other forms, i wouldn't mind someone else owning them, either! good luckkkkk!! <3
