it starts now.
navi shifted her legs, trying to brace herself for the coming years. taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, and then bolted. she flew across the tall grass, smiling, her mane streaming behind her. she was finally free of everything.
at birth, navi was a nobody. she lived in the alleyways, gathering up what food she could, and constantly being ganged up on. one day, she was in a critical state, when her "
knight in shining armor" came to rescue her. deke rounded the corner, spotted her, and raced over. she had a long cut down her side, and her tail was scarred. slowly, they made their way to his small home. inside, deke worked efficently to clean her up. however much navi protested, deke kept working.
as she was beginning to heal, deke took care of her. they talked for hours on end, and grew fond of eachother's company. they had so much in common;; loving pop music, being strong-willed, constant sarcasm, and so much more. navi was falling for him, and she was scared to tell him.
life went on for her, and navi was soon strong enough to walk. she hobbled over to deke, and they went outside for what felt like the first time in ages for navi. she breathed in the fresh air - something she never had downtown. she loved the village he lived in. they walked out into the fields around dusk. the sun was setting in the distance, with the crops blowing in the warm air. everything was perfect. navi and deke watched the sun go down, then proceeded to quietly talk about their dreams, fears, and lives.
little did navi know, they had chatted for a couple hours, laying in the field. she glanced up, and stars suddenly surrounded them. above, they could see polaris, the northern star. sighing, she breathed in the smell of the night, crisp and clear. navi pointed to the star and whispered, "One day, I want to go there."
deke chuckled softly, "Good luck with that. I plan to stay here for the rest of my life."
navi thought about this. here? as in the village, or with me? is he joking? she sighed, brushing off her worries.
"Thanks for everything, deke. You're amazing," She told him, appreciating him with all her heart.
"No prob. Im happy to help you anytime, you know." He replied, still gazing at the sky.
"...Do you think I could explore? Get to know the world, inside and out?" Navi started. "Its just so massive, and beautiful, and wonderful."
"Maybe... When would you go?"
"Tomorrow?"
"Really?"
"Yeah, I've thought about exploring all my life. my feet have been restless these past months."
"Oh..."
Silence.
"I'd come back, you know..." Navi felt his awkwardness.
"Well... why not. Yes, I'll help you Navi."
"Would you?"
"Yes."
"Thank you Deke. You're the bestest friend anyone could have."
"Pshh, I know."
"Hey! Come on, let's go pack."
"Fineeee."
