"In the beginning, I knew only water. The soft pull of the tide, the swirling depth
below my feet, and the unmistakable sound of crashing waves on a desolate beach.
It was there on that sand that I was born and raised, where I lived out my childhood
fantasies and struggled into my teen years. I believe that, without a doubt, this is
what drove my passions later in life. I was inspired, no driven by the beauty of the
ocean. By the glint of sunshine on the edges of shattered shells. By the rotting scent
of dead sea life drudged up from the deep blue. By the screaming gulls over head,
bickering over who would eat and who would die. I pride myself in my realism, in
my ability to bring out the beauty from such a scary place. Because truly the beaches
here would rather swallow you whole than open their hearts to you. But I saw it
anyways, hidden beneath grit and sand. And with that beauty I made what could
only be known as useless trinkets. For as the sea brings in its tide seashells and
pearls, I made the same from the sand in which they lie. A bountiful shop of colors
and shapes, glass-made trinkets are my only drive now. I have made hundreds,
probably thousands of these items. And yet, despite their popularity with tourists,
I find no use for them. A useless passion. Yes, that is my life now. Simply forever
searching for a greater muse, another passion, a more expandable talent.
Something...worthwhile."

Short Story-
zayla was introduced to shell crowns at quite a young age. from living on the coast, she got lots of inspiration from
the ocean. often, zayla would attend small craft and art fairs to see what projects she could do herself. she saw one
older viscet selling small, pink flower crowns. after returning to her home, an idea struck her mind; flower crowns;
made from seashells and other ocean findings. after a moment of research, zayla found a small section of the internet
dedicated to these small yet creature head pieces. she saw many different kinds, most with seashells and flowers wra-
pped around a small wooden strap. after lots of pictures and research, she gave herself. zayla decided to use her own
personal collection of seashells. she looked through her large portion of newly gathered shells and sea stones. after
picking out the smaller shells with pink tones, she finally put together her crown. it contained mostly artificial pink
flowers, white and pink-ish shells, and small fake leaves. after being connected to a brown elastic string, the crown
was complete and finished. after wearing the accessory to the beach and back, zayla decided to make this her hobby.

Tobin is a lifeguard at the beach which leaves him plenty of time
to observe the quirks and actions of the viscets by the ocean. For
him, it's like peeking through a small window into someone's life,
just for a few moments. Sometimes he grows fond of certain
individuals that show up often, and while he never really speaks to
those viscets he feels like he's close to them. From his lifeguard
chair up above everyone he sees lots of interesting situations; but
what he loves most is watching the young visclings play around.
He's always had a soft spot for them and sometimes he gets to help
out in small ways, kind of like how firemen are called to rescue cats.
While there are not many actual situations where someone's life is
in danger Tobin takes pride in the little things he can do to help,
even if it's just comforting a little viscet who's lost their shovel.

fun fact- the shell he wears around his neck is a whistle in disguise

Story -

Mizu walked along the beach that rimmed the city she lived in. More like on, though. Mizu lives in Hawaii, where water and lushness is everywhere and anywhere you look or go. The young Viscet was always scared of going in the ocean, for fear that the black-tipped sharks that the elders spoke of would get her. She shuddered at the thought, stepping a bit closer to the water. Mizu had borrowed an oxygen tank from a friend, along with some goggles, so she could go scavenging underwater for the first time in her life. She waded out into the water until it was to her stomach, before sighing. Leaping forward, Mizu perfectly dived into the water, closing her eyes. Before realizing that she was underwater and shouldn't hold her breath nor close her eyes, she got rid of her fears and started to breath in the stored air shakily, blinking her blue eyes rapidly. Wow, the underwater world was sure pretty. Mizu could see small fish dart here and there, along with bright and plants. She swam a bit farther, kicking her feet and front legs. She grinned wider and wider. Maybe she should go diving more often.
