Heart Racing

Born in the darkness, of a cold winters night,
You found your way to momma's side by feeling not by sight.

When the morning sun did show you her full face,
All four long legs folded under you it seemed would never race.

You blinked at this new world with mother by your side,
Took one deep breath, stood up slow and made your careful stride.

That first step was not the best, for soon you tumbled down,
But moments later fragile you walked, across the hallowed ground.

I made my way to the paddock, where dewdrops blurred the green,
And what I saw was so beautiful it could never be unseen.

For that foal of golden silk after quite a shaky start,
Stood with such grace and majesty and ran straight into my heart.
