Name: Delax
Goes by Dee
Gender: Male
Blunt - Honest - Energized - Brave - Well-meaning ──────────────── Take What You Get ───
─── Personality ───
While Delax sees himself as just another guy, most others find it easy to recognize him as the eccentric he really can be. Opinions seem to mean more to him than fact, as he will continue to argue his point confidently even when clearly proven wrong, only frustrating his "opponent." Dee protects and promotes his ideas with a vengeance, bringing them up in times others might see as uncalled for. All who know him, be they simple acquaintances or close friends, dread to hear the words "Excuse me?" delivered in Dee's accusatory tone, knowing all too well that they would be about to have to endure one of his tirades.
Going off of Dee's aggressive and up-front nature, which he greets new people with without exception, no one would expect that he would have any kind side, yet he will show it in times of urgency in which he seemingly morphs another person. Dee is the first to risk his life to save a stranger's, though his motivation, second to simply being a good person, would likely lie somewhere in his pursuit of praise and admiration even if he wouldn't be around to see it. In addition to his selfishly selfless instincts, Dee can show genuine warmth to those who catch him on calm days, and those who are going through a rough patch in their lives. Although he can be unstable, he is able to gather himself enough to have a collected conversation in these moments, bringing himself to hear out other peoples' thoughts even if he disagrees.
Delax seems to have no ability to recognize the great variety of people he becomes in his certain moods, harming his ability to form strong bonds and relationships, platonic or otherwise. Most who appreciate his aggressive focus become frustrated with him when he is feeling more sensitive, and vice versa. Without this knowledge, as he has never truly taken time to reflect on himself, Dee has no interest in changing, and continues to act in such unpredictable ways.
─── Not to be Envied ───
─── Profession ───
Through a series of missed opportunities, his lack of higher education, and the more unwelcome side to Delax's confidence, the only job that he has managed to keep for an extended period of time has no pathways for him to climb, nor is it stimulating to him whatsoever. For 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, Delax works in a toaster factory's quality control center, picking up toasters and setting them down, ensuring that nothing went wrong during the assembly process. The job drags on unendingly, the lack of interactivity fraying Dee's nerves and making him desperate for something that would bring some sort of passion into his "career," as no matter how much he could try, it's very hard to get excited about toasters.
─── All the Wrong Things ───
─── Early life ───
Growing up wasn't a great experience for Dee. His parents tried hard to grow him into the perfect young man, but along the way they forgot to let him have his own freedom. Early curfews and strict rules designed to make their Delax respect authority and to remind him to treasure the less significant pleasures in life backfired gloriously, only serving to sew seeds of resentment and instability in their young son's mind. While Dee never rebelled against these rules, they took their toll on his psyche, bringing him to yearn for choice and the chance to express his true self over the image others wanted him to fit into through adolescence and into his adult life.
─── Those I Know ───
─── Friends & Acquaintances ───

Olwen, a shy and typically rather self conscious girl, wouldn't have met Dee had she not been cleaning the windows of her father's "Magnolia Teahouse" as he passed by. Dee couldn't help himself, feeling the urge to point out the smudges she had missed above where her arms couldn't reach. Clearly hurt by the stranger's comment, Olwen backed up to the wall, wondering why someone could be so rude as to loudly point out her mistake. The girl's sensitivity evoking Dee's sympathetic side, the taller plume went to finish the task (without any more comments) instead of just leaving her in confusion. He only managed a mumbled "Have a nice day," before walking off after he was done.
While it may have been more poetic if Delax and Olwen never saw each other again, Dee did decide to start actually coming into the teahouse, exchanging a few sentences with Olwen each time. The two would never become close due to Dee's not uncommonly expressed aggression, but both learned to sympathize with each others kind instincts, Olwen eventually enjoying his presence.
Marina, just as aggressive as Delax himself, met Dee at a large party they had both been invited to. Like bugs to a light bulb the two were brought together in a fight over the food. It was insignificant, started by Dee questioning the quality of the food that had been left out all evening, but the
disagreement lead to dirty looks being exchanged between the two all night, and wherever their paths would cross in the future as well.
Although anyone near them could tell they hated each other, both Dee and Marina got something out of their fights, Marina able to satisfy her urge to express anger without judgement, while Dee would simply be content having someone there to listen to and interact with his rants. In fact, the only time Mari can bring herself to walk away from a debate with Dee is when he tries to be considerate of her opinions while still expressing his own, as the pale plumerian can only stand him at what most would consider his most unbearable point.
─── What can I do ───
─── Hobbies ───
Finding no solace in his job, Delax has jumped from obsession to obsession, trying to find something that would suit his desires and his need for stimulation and movement. Despite his central goals of finding something more active, journaling has stuck with him longer than his periods of interest in bodybuilding, art, and even dance. In Dee's countless composition notebooks and word documents he has accumulated lies thousands of essays mixed with meaningless prose and word vomit expressing his feelings toward what the world should be like and how its people should act. He can find the time to write for hours on how that morning's news program should have been run, and never grows tired of writing, even when he knows he has five other essays on the same topic and his hand aches so much it feels like falling off.
Yet, for a period of time, letting his opinions rot in stacks of paper on his desk did not feel like enough for Dee. Having learned enough through experience that screaming his opinions out loud in public never really got him anywhere, he decided to find a place where he could yell out his thoughts, to people who probably couldn't care less, a bit less loudly: The Internet. Blissfully unaware of the amount of attention his works receive compared to others', Delax posts his essays on many sites, attracting a slew of comments from people who disagree each time, prompting vehement discussions, just as he had always wanted.
