When Electra was just a pup, she dreamed of the stars. When taurus was visible Electra would sit out on a lawn chair staring at the stars, wondering how taurus came to be. She came up with a story of how taurus got into the sky.
It was a cool spring evening, and laying on the grass in a meadow was a bull. He owned this area, and ruled it peacefully and fairly. His name was Taurus, and he ruled part of a large island in the middle of the sea. Aries the ram ruled another meadow on the far side of the island, Gemini ruled the land around their cabin in the woods on the north side of the island, Cancer ruled a long section of beach on the edge of the shore, Leo ruled a dry hot part of the island to the south with few trees, Virgo ruled a mountain to the east, Libra ruled a long strip of land running through the middle of the island, Scorpio ruled a desert in the near Leo in the southern part of the island, Sagittarius ruled another part of the forest, Capricorn ruled another mountain to the west, Aquarius ruled a beach with a river leading to the ocean, and Pisces ruled a lake on the island. They all ruled fairly over their lands, and each had a month in which they felt the strongest.
One morning in midwinter Capricorn died, and his essence floated up into the sky forming a constellation. The next month Aquarius died, and his essence formed a constellation. Another month passed and it was Pisces turn to pass into the sky and become a constellation. Aries was next, and Taurus knew he was soon. Each died during the month they felt strong, and rose into the sky. So it went. Taurus rose, then Gemini, then Cancer, next was Leo. Virgo left the next month, and the next it was Libra's turn. Scorpio rose, and only Sagittarius was left. Then he rose in his month of strength.
The island's inhabitants having no leaders built themselves boats sailed to shore. The island itself, having no living creature on it and no reason to stay, sank into the water.
We each have our signs telling which month we were born, and this honors the great creatures ruling the island long before the first humans were born. We should be proud of our signs, for their namesakes were great leaders each having the traits we associate the signs with now. While others have different stories depicting the ways in which the signs came into being, this is Electra's.
I want Electra because her design is simple and complex, as the signs themselves are. The signs are simple, yet their meaning to us has so many different layers as Electra's design appears to have. As you may have guessed, I am a Taurus.
