In more detail:

Whilst Riley isn't stubborn, he is pretty steadfast in his ways,
and as such; not much about him changes from childhood to adulthood.
This steadfastness leads him to struggling to learn from others; if one points out a mistake he's made, he's likely to get defensive and push his point of why he's right too far. This coupled with being candid, leads him to not having many friends throughout his life despite his lovable positive traits, as people tend to not like blunt straightforward truth all the time.
That being said, the friends he does make are loyal due to his generally sweet nature.

Definitely a morning person. He wakes up earlier than the birds, but goes to sleep at the latest of 8:00pm, around 6:pm is the usual time for him. Riley is one of those that is always the first there, and never seems to be late.
However he gets quite excited about things, and as such you can easily lose him in a crowd, or he just gets drawn to one thing or another. He's too trusting of others, so this worries whoever he's with at the time, as he could easily be taken advantage of.

Oddly enough, Riley didn't discover her was allergic to bees until his late twenties!

Oddest Quirk: Despite being a neat person in general, Riley doesn't have the neatest handwriting. It's not the messiest in the world! But it's not as neat as he would like. He's tried many different things to make his writing neater, but nothing has really helped enough to satisfy him. This is a lot of why he hasn't considered being a writer, as much as reading and stories in general fascinate his attention, he doesn't think he's cut out for it.

Mentor/Role Model: Cosima
Riley doesn't remember how they met exactly, just simply one day he was sitting with a very thick book in the library, so heavy he could hardly lift it, a book talking about the structures of plants and where to find them, and an older plumie came up to him and asked why he was reading such a big book. They ended up talking the day away about their favourite science subjects.
From that day onwards Riley has greatly respected and looked up to his mentor Cosima.
She's a lot like a big sister or third parent to him. When they see each other they often end up having a conversation about something new about science Riley learned, or them testing out an experiment he found, or asking thousands of questions about what Cosima has been doing lately especially in regards to science. She's helped solidify Riley's love for science, something that'll never leave him. He may not understand her humour all the time, but she's likely the one he's most loyal to that isn't family.
Though sometimes they end up in very heated arguments when their opinions too greatly differ!

Closest friend: Luka
Around Luka, Riley is his least timid, becoming highly excited as his friend leads him on to some sort of crazy imagined adventure. Sometimes Riley offers his own ideas up for whatever games they are going to play, but he does prefer to just let Luka go off on his own ideas as Riley really enjoys watching the ideas grow and develop into the funniest games. He's tried to get Luka into science, but understands that it's not really Luka's thing, and so for once doesn't push his point too far.
Accidentally Riley will get caught up in the games and sometimes start to believe some of the things Luka chats about, to the point that Riley's decided some magic exists, it's simply too clever to be discovered by science quite yet.
Luka's the one that can always cheer Riley up no matter the issue, even if noone else can, simply because of how energetic and childish Luka is. Sometimes pure childish happy games is all one needs to feel better.

Hero: Orrick Kaleinik
Science magazines are one of the best ways to stay up-to-date in the science world, and Riley has decided that is a very important thing in science. As such, from an early age he ordered subscriptions of science magazines. Someone that was frequently in articles, or even featured in magazines, was a plumerian by the name of Orrick Kaleinik.
Even though the guy doesn't specialise in Riley's favourite science topics, the plumerians achievements have really inspired Riley and as such started to buy all the magazines that had him potentially in them. Riley's lucky his parents buy these kinds of things for him, but Riley doesn't realise his privilege.
One of Riley's biggest dreams is to meet his hero, this is something he often talks about with his mentor and anyone else who'll listen about how amazing Orrick is. Riley's decided to try and look into studying archaeology sometimes so he can understand the magazines more that Orrick is in, and besides there are some fossilized plants around which is really amazing to Riley. He's tried to make some fossilized plant leaves himself, but they didn't work out much to his disappointment.

Frenemy: Galina
Is she a friend or an enemy? Well she's sort of both. Riley finds her annoying, yet amusing at the same time. He enjoys showing her pretty flowers that do really cool things and seeing her try and hide how much she loves whatever it is. For example moon flowers.
In fact he makes a point to grow amazing plants just to see her reactions. He's very patient with her, but doesn't give into her demands either, opting to entirely ignore her in that case. He won't stand for that kind of behaviour.
This makes her angry at him and tries to get his attention, resorting to quite silly ideas to successfully do so. When she's not quite so upset Riley does like to try and talk about science things, as he knows she's very intelligent and what he talks about won't just go straight over her head.
Riley's suggested growing a vegetable patch together, because he knows how much she likes them.
In school Riley secretly competes with her to try and get better scores than her. He's not sure if she's noticed or not.

My dream/wish in life is to grow up happy and content with myself, with as little regret as I can realistically manage.

Has been fascinated with books ever since he was little, and now currently interested severely in botany, usually always carries around some sort of botany book. He started being interested after he got the desire to find out what sort of flowers are meant to be on his pelt. Has always needed reading glasses.
A little more timid at this age than at other times, especially when others introduce themselves first he gets a little stage-fright for no logical reason that he can find. Nevertheless, it doesn't take much at all for him to warm up to someone, and even if you've never met him before, he'll talk to you like he's known you for years.
When he gets overly excited about something, or gets too pushy about a certain point, and others scold him for it, or call him out for it, he seems a little smaller and blushes furiously. Generally this is the only time he ever blushes about something, as he's not particularly easily embarrassed otherwise. That said, he doesn't speak much at all to start with, preferring body language and expressions than speaking his exact thoughts, he prefers the silence over constant chatter. In this way, school stresses him.
Being remarkably truthful and straightforward, to the point that it could be considered rude, especially in dealing with other plumies, Riley from an early age received a bit of a cold shoulder from many young plumerians his age. This gradually worsened as he became more absorbed in books and learning all these long difficult words that many young kids his age couldn't possibly understand. This ended up with him being quite harshly bullied at times.
On Riley's part, he didn't understand how this happened, which worried him.
That's not to say he didn't have friends at this time, Galina, Luka, as well as Ivory Joan spent time with him.
Although Galina likely didn't consider Riley a friend due to her personality.

My future plans for him as a teen will be that he aspires to become a scientist to study botany. He dislikes relying on others as it makes him feel ignorant, he just can't help but feel that way, and as such he had an early desire to move out as soon as he could from his parents, and become financially stable on his own. Has a harder time with confrontation than he did as a child. Discovers that music distracts him so much he can't think let alone concentrate, so takes a disliking to it in general due to this.
In particular at this age Riley dreams of meeting his hero in person and even tries to get in to witness a archaeological dig.

My future plans for him as an adult is that Riley ends up opening a bed & breakfast cafe that features plants, mostly flowers, in his dishes. He gained a lot of his expertise on what plants are fragrant, edible, and delicious due to all his younger years of studying botany. This leads him into experimenting with cooking them, at some point someone convinces him to open up the bed and breakfast cafe, as they saw how much Riley enjoys cooking at this point in time.
As an adult still needs his reading glasses, and when making fancy cooking for his cafe he wears them then as well so you tend to see him often wearing them, as he does not get much of a break from his work at all.

What happened to the science degree?

About Me-
Hello, so those that are reading this, I'm not sure how many know me.
I'm a fairly friendly upbeat girl who's of adult age, that finds great joy in developing characters and is currently a non-owner in the plumerian community. I'm a writer through and through, and am planning on publishing a series at some point in the not so far off future. I'm currently learning to drive. I'm also studying to get into uni. Due to health issues I could not get in as early as I would have liked, but I am fully recovered and better than ever now!

I've watched plumies for a while, but only this year and last year have I actively started to try out for any (with much encouragement from a few friends of mine!). Even so, I'm a very shy and cautious person, one of my main faults is that I secound guess myself until I can no longer speak up. Due to this I haven't posted in the fan club until just recently, before that going to a few join.me streams to try and gain a bit of confidence.
Not that any of you are scary! No no, I just am this way with everything, you're all friendly and awesome.
Even so, for Riley I would try my best to become active in the community. I've already started forming some friendships I believe, and some roleplays are planned for him if I do win.

Yes I do roleplay! I'm a fairly active semi-lit to literate roleplayer, I don't roleplay on CS however, haven't for years. I prefer skype or advanced.scribes these days. Many of my most active roleplays at the moment have been going on for around three years now, so rest assured that any roleplay I start for Riley I'll try my best to keep it active!
I don't just develop characters in a roleplay though, I really enjoy sitting and thinking about new things and events that could happen in any one characters lives to keep the ball rolling on their development. One of my favourite things to do is sit around and think about what all my characters would be doing for the day.
I'd be the first to say my art is ugly, horrid stuff, I truly hate my art, or at least I don't like the end result... I enjoy drawing in general. Always I do try to improve so I can draw my characters properly, and Riley would easily become one of my most drawn characters. I prefer to pay for art though, because there's so many talented artists out there! I mean just look at all the fabulous art I've received for my form!
But Riley is one of the few characters I genuinely enjoy drawing art of including the end result, and it really is rare for me to go 'hey not half bad.' when I look at a finished piece of mine and feeling confident that I've done a decent job. I've drawn him so much by now I know his design like the back of my hand. I still prefer using a reference to draw him, but I don't need a reference to draw him any more.

My Plans For My Future Involving Plumerians-
Even if I don't win, I'm going to try and become a little more active in the community, and as such I plan to post more in the fan club, though I only just recently made my first post there, join in on as many join.me streams as I can, and try and make some more friends. I'll likely host some join.me streams myself, though I may need a bit of prodding from friends to do that. I'd definitely start offering commissions, as I don't understand why, but several people currently, and in the past, have liked my art enough to order things from me, which makes me feel quite special to be honest.
Plus plumerians are just really fun to draw. I'm definitely going to commission lots of people when I do win a plumerian some day, and even before that I have various characters that people could still draw.
I don't plan to own more than two plumerians that I've adopted myself, as I'd rather not divide my time up as much as possible, though I'd likely keep one child if a plumerian of mine ended up with a mate and all.
I'm not particularly interested in breeding any plumerian I win though, as relationships between characters is way more important and that's only one small aspect to owning a character.

My Plans For Riley-
One of the first things I'd do if I win is create a page on my character website just for him, and customise it all uniquely to his page, as well as order a whole bunch of art.
Like I've said in the above already, I'm definitely going to seek out roleplays if I win him. I've already got some agreed on, some involving those in the relationship part of the form, and some involving others. They'd start slowly, one or two at a time, so I don't overwhelm myself as I know I can quickly get overwhelmed.
There's some active relationships in the works, none of them romantic however, these are friendships and the like.
I plan on writing up stories involving said friendships, and commissioning artists to draw them as well as myself drawing various ones. If I win Riley, he'd be my biggest step so far into getting to be a part of the community, and you'd certainly come to recognise me hanging around a lot with a huge sackful of Riley art.
My plans for aging him is to age him extremely slowly, as I want to savour every stage for as long as I can.
To be honest I was quite reluctant to not keep him at the age he is, as I really would love to keep him forever as the precious baby that he is, but I just have these ideas for his teenage and adult years, and I just couldn't abandon those ideas.
So I decided I'd like to age him slow, like a good quality cheese.
It would take a long time for anyone to be considered a potential significant other, think 2+ years of roleplaying a friendship before I'd even consider it. And even then they'd have to be really close soul mates during that time.
I don't find it necessary for him to ever find 'the one' and such, as it's not something he'd need to be complete.

Why I'd Like to Own Riley-
I'm really picky with what designs I go for, and while I love many many designs, I need a special connection to even think of trying out. I may fall head over heels for a design, but even so I sit back and think about it and go: "Can I draw them?" "Do I have a clear character in my head?" "Will I still love this character in years to come?" "How many amazing forms are there?" "Do I have the time?"
I normally answer yes to the secound. With the third I'm not very confident in anything, so I often chicken out if I particularly love some other forms, I ask myself this so I don't freak out at the last minute and drop out of things I do enter.
The first question, along with the secound, fourth and the last all combined is normally why I don't try out for something.
There's several other questions, but those are the main ones.
With Riley...To be perfectly honest I've loved him from the moment he was made.
It's quite unhealthy really, he's not even mine and yet I've drawn him so many times! None of those drawings are in my form though, so no worries there! I was eventually going to gift all the art I'd drawn of them to char, so it really suprised me to hear that he was going up for adoption.
My point is...
I didn't ask myself those questions like I normally do, level headed and careful like I normally am with adopts.
Because I knew no matter what my answers were to them, I loved him.
That has only ever happened twice before. To be so crazy in love with absolutely everything about this one fragile being.
Sure I absolutely adore all the adopts I do actually win, and shower them with art, roleplaying, and writing, but this is just...
Another level that ventures into indescribable.
That's why I'd like to own Riley.


Why I would be a good owner:

You may notice from my signature that I own quite a few adopted characters from various species, so yes I do spend a lot of time with them as well. But never fear! I would make sure to get him new pieces of art per year, and make sure that any connections he makes with other plumies stay connected, and get art, stories, and roleplays together.
Yes I do rp. Depending on his age I'd be actively seeking roleplays for him from when he is a child where I'd want chat skype roleplays mostly, to literate roleplays when he's an adult. I'd do it this way simply because by the time he's an adult he'd be so well developed that a short fast paced rp meant more for development, wouldn't be as needed, as well as I simply enjoy both types.
I'm home a lot due to my current lifestyle, and as such I'd have more time to roleplay him, and draw art.
I'm extremely forum shy so I may not post often on the fan club, but I'd be very happy to message you all the updates on this child (including any new snazzy art I receive or draw myself!) whenever I get the chance.
