Name:
Artemis, named after the Greek goddess of hunting.
Gender:
Female
Why Was She All Alone?:
Artemis was running, her small paws scraping the ground.
"Run Artemis."
Her mothers voice was fresh in her ears, and she remembered up to the events leading to her having to flee.
Artemis and her mother were walking along, fur blowing in the slight breeze. The small red pup was very excited, today was the day she would be taught how to create a portal to earth, and back again.
The red pup now shivered, wondering how she thought going to earth would be fun. She saw everything vividly in her mind.
After the two Puffs had perfected Artemis' portal powers, the two were walking through a jungel pathway on earth. Artimis watched her mother's locket bouncing at her neck, and asked if she could see it.
"Of course you can."
The locket was surprisingly heavy, and Artemis slipped it around her neck. The golden pendant glimmered softly.
Artemis stumbled. She fell face first into a tree, and burst into tears. Her mother was gone. She couldn't deny it. Gone. No, not gone, when your gone you can come back. She was dead.
The puffsnouts happily trotted through earths jungle. All of a sudden, a net closed onto Artemis' mum.
"Run!" She yelled at her pup. "Artimis run! Save yourself!" And so she ran. Yet not fast enough. She still heard her mothers scream rip the air.
It was a scream still ringing in Artemis' ears. The thing even worse than the scream was the silence that followed. It was as if the forest had been turned off. Artemis sat by the tree she had ran into, tears cascading over her face. She didn't know where she was. She had gone through the portal, right? The small, broken pup curled up, no longer fighting the urge to sleep. The night held Artemis in her grip like a blanket. Warm. Comforting. Still.
What's the Image in Her Locket?:
When opened, the locket holds a slightly smudged, paw-drawn picture of another Puff. The picture holds great sentimental value to Artimis, as it is of her now deceased mother. Artemis suffers slightly from memory loss and PTSD, and this picture is one of the things that she holds close and helps her through hard times.
