The World

Puffin-Snouted Lizardtails live in a magical land called Itinia, where mythological, magical beasts and creatures live. There are also human-like species there, mostly fairies, elves, dwarfs and humans.

On their planet there are three major continents. One is dominated by humans, where there are only a few forests for animals, and another dominated by animals, with only a few humans scattered about. The third is the Puffsnout kingdom. Puffsnouts have other animals in their territory, mostly rabbits, deer, foxes, wolves and cats, and they are typically at peace with them. They will hunt fish, mice, and generally any rodent, though they typically leave birds and rabbits alone.

All animals are sentient on this planet, although, once raised feral and wild and away civilized groups, they are hard to teach and behave a bit like wild animals, excepting the fact that they all live in organized family tribes and have some form of language.

There are many unexplored lands in their world, so many creatures dedicate their lives to being explorers out on the sea. That also means a great deal of pirates, who will rob just about anything on a ship.

The Species

Puffin-Snouted Lizardtails, better known as "Puffsnouts", are a colorful mammal slightly resembling a bird, a dog, a lizard, and a cat. They have large, stout bodies, are approximately three feet in height, have a large, scaled and furred leopard gecko like tail, a furry body, and a beak-like face. Their ears are similar in shape to that of a deer's. They are very intelligent, having their own complex language and able to learn the language of other animals and humans. They mainly eat fish, fruits and meat, however they do not eat birds. They have small, but very sharp fangs and long claws that are retractable only on their front paws. They live in groups called "Clouds" ( EX: A Cloud of Puffsnouts ) that claim their own territories, but are usually peaceful with their neighbors. Puffsnouts are from another world and are, in a sense, "portal" animals who have the ability to travel to other worlds by use of their ability to create and close portals. They enjoy swimming, and their thick coats are somewhat waterproof.

Their portal abilities are all dependent on thoughts. A puffsnout will choose a place, typically a cave, pond, or building, to create a portal by imagining it. The portal basically looks like a hazy circle with the world beyond it in view. They can then close it by wishing it away. Often, a puffsnout shall doodle a sketch of their portal in order to remember it better. Skilled puffsnouts can create their own little worlds or dimensions by collecting various kinds of "dusts" in jars and choosing an empty planet or meteorite to place their world on. Puffsnouts also like to build small archways to place their portals in.

However, despite these powers, they cannot create anything without it already existing in some form. Their ideas have to be drawn from plesant dreams and from life.

They can draw certain things from life or dreams with magical crayons that they craft. These crayons can bring their drawings to life so that they can easily build houses and draw animals and plants. They can be gotten rid of by thinking them away and storing the paper in a folder, or by erasing the drawing. Puffsnouts cannot create anything that is evil. Their drawings are all beings from the dream world too, so, they are a bit like imaginary friends and objects, and, once erased or stored in a folder, they return to the dream world. They do not live like normal creatures, yet they do have emotions and feelings, and are immortal, as, once erased from the the world, they live forever in imagination.

Puffsnouts have found a natural portal to our world long ago, and often visit to bring good luck and joy to young animals and humans alike!

Puffsnouts normally live in groups called "Clouds", Which are often accompanied by the name of the first Cloud Leader, the current cloud Leader, or the region they live in. ( Such as - Sam Cloud, Water Cloud, Fern Cloud, Grace Cloud, Ocean Cloud, etc ). They live as long as humans do - often longer - and age the same. They choose their mates for life.

Clouds are usually family groups. Eldest Mothers and fathers are often at the head, until they get too old, then the next eldest couple takes over. They usually stick to a certain territory, but are friendly with their neighbors and often visit each other. On the whole, they are a friendly species. Though some Clouds of Puffsnouts are angry and violent, it is not common.

They are said to bring good luck and good dreams to children of all species; human and animal!

Most Puffsnouts only have portal magic - it is very uncommon when they are very skilled at magic, in fact it is considered rare ( These shall be special adoptions ).

They are able to read, draw and write.. despite their lack of thumbs, which cannot really be explained.

Puffsnouts are usually bright colored, though dark colored ones are not uncommon. They always have striped tails and a small color on their cheek, like a blush spot.

They usually live near water, as they all love to swim.

They usually live in caves or small cottages. Sometimes in big fancy houses.

No they are not dragons. ^u^" They're beaked cat-dog things. In other words their face is mostly hard like a beak towards the end. Hence the "puffin-snout" or "pufsnout" name.
