So here we are filling out the paperwork to allow this little fellow to go up for adoption. Yes, we know that bandages make it look bad but it isn't what you must be thinking. He was a premature little guy, having been born during a snowstorm he is lucky to have even survived. We aren't sure how Daucina slipped out of her stall but chances are it was Stunner being her playful self since a few others had been huddled in the barn in the morning. After some searching Daucina was discovered huddled up in the trees but what was unexpected was the little foal laying between her feet. They both were rushed to the vet and given great care, Daucina had no ill affects besides being exhausted and chilled. However the foal being outside in the snow and wet had suffered some frostbite, that has since healed as much as it can but left a few hairless spots.
Now to explain the rest of the bandages, you must understand that being premature has left him a bit smaller then the other boisterous foals about Serpentine, so this escape artist over here has a few tricks to get himself out of stalls and fences that other foals hadn't thought up. It was the result of one such break out that he got into the final accident that we have decided to send him elsewhere. He was having his fun but as he came across a dog, it had been a fairly aggressive one, basically semi-feral so it chased the young colt. The chase ended up with him running into the barbwire fence of one of the ranches in the area. Someone helped him out of it this time and he is all bandaged up as a result, but we don't want to risk a repeat of this incident. Not only does he need to find a home willing to work with him through this time but Serpentine being located in Canada is not the best place for a little colt with cryophobia ("Fear of extreme cold, ice or frost."). So this is where we are regretfully letting this little guy go on to bigger and better things in a new home, I hope you'll love him as much as we do.
