GPE #48 Death *Divine*

Postby LostHope » Wed Apr 22, 2015 7:33 am

What is a Great Plains Equine?:
The GPE are a special breed of horse. They are large and sturdy breed, suited best for working a farm and pulling carts. They also were once used as war horses during the war between the Mountain and Forest kingdoms. GPE stand at 13-17 hands, though are most commonly ranging at around 15-16 hands. Their coats are sleek and soft, the colors and patterns are too varied to even list, though they are most commonly found with a 'paint' style coat. Their manes and tails are long and flowing, their hooves heavily feathers and nearly fully concealed. GPE's have long beards under their chins, both male and female, and have a pair of horns that sweep backwards along their necks. Their eyes range in any color of the full spectrum, and produce a glow that resembles smoke, or possibly flames. They are docile beasts, but are not easily tamed.

In a trail of red mist, the slow clops of hooves sound in the darkness. A dark beast with red glowing runes travels slowly, head lowered as it goes. The mist flows from it's mane, tail, and hooves. A deep red liquid continuously dripping from it's face. A whisper echoes across the night. "Death... is upon you....."

How did you manage to come into possession of this GPE?:

At first glance I hadn't known exactly what it was that had caught my attention, but my curiosity eventually got the better of me and I found myself drawn towards the towering, well-built frame of the massive creature. I had gone out on one of my trail horses earlier that day to check on the far fence that bordered the end of our property, but something had drawn my horse into a part of our land that I did not recognize nor feel comfortable being in. Before I knew it, my mount had reared up, effectively launching me from his back and then high-tailed it out of there almost as if whatever had drawn him there was making him submit.

It was the eyes that I first noticed. The glowing, crimson sockets that sat upon the creature's face, the eerie red essence that emitted from both optics appearing like streams of smoke. When I had crept closer towards whatever it was that I was facing, I could make out a large body, much larger then any horse I'd owned or even seen. this only served to fuel my curiosity even more and once again I found my legs moving on their own accord, rapidly nearing the creature. Suddenly, it's head turned in my direction, all movement ceasing, it's angular ears trained in my direction. I could feel my throat run dry and had tried to turn and flee, but my curiosity was having none of it. The light fog that had fallen over the land earlier had begun to dissipate, relieving the strain that my eyes went through to figure out what the animal was. Bit by bit, I could make out body parts; long sturdy legs, feathers feet that splayed out in dark colors of red and black, a broad, sculpted head with an odd white marking that covered the fore face. My legs carried me even closer until my eyes could fully see the animal. My eyes widened at the sight, the animal that I had never thought of seeing at all in my lifetime.

The large bodied mammal was indeed an ancestor of the horse. More so of a draft horse due to it's heavy structure and sturdy build. The mane and tail that the animal bore were of a rich mahogany color, on the verge of becoming a blood red. What intrigued me the most were the features that were nothing close to mortal. Upon it's face, the white marking that I had believed to be just a simple marking, was in fact a mask, almost like armour, made from ivory bone. Emitting from around it's body was a hue of red mist that trailed off behind it as it moved in a slow, yet elegant manner that would have captured anyone's attention, no matter what they were doing. The dark horns that swept backwards towards it's thick neck were slim and gave it that daunting aura of any creature of myths.

When I had regained my senses, my body froze up again when the horse-like-creature moved towards me. Although it moved slowly, it moved exactly like a normal horse. It's broad head bobbing lightly as it's feathered feet concealed the dark hooves that carried him over the distance. As it neared me my eyes caught onto the deep red substance that dripped from it's face, my brain instantly thinking it was blood but not being able to find any open wound. I don't know what had come over me in that instant but my hand raised from where it had been previously frozen by my side and presented itself out in front of my, towards the animal. Nostrils flaring wide, it stretched it's neck towards my outstretched hand and breathed in deeply, savouring my scent. My trembling body had produced a light veil of sweat that dotted my hairline and upper lip, the anxiety of what this animal would do was killing me. In all my shock, I hadn't noticed that the beast had wandered even closer and had pressed it's soft muzzle to the flat palm of my hand. I stood immobilized and completely shocked as I stared wide-eyed at the magnificent creature. The sparks that I felt surge through my arm and light my body up stirred a feeling deep within that I hadn't felt before. It was as if, in that moment, i was bonded to the creature that stood before me.

I'm not certain. I'm busy a lot through the day, so I only get a few minutes here and there to come check in. It wont be -too- long. Maybe a week or two.

GPE name: Death
Gender: Genderless (sexually male, but does not identify as such)
Height: 12.8 H (14 hands high)
How did you manage to come into possession of this GPE?:

Merciful Death

The only goal in life is to usher souls into the next life. But one soul, far from death, was experiencing so much hardship. Her life's essence would falter every so often, and the equine could see it. He found himself around her increasingly often, and while her family didn't see it, he saw every thought of taking her own life. He lingered, waiting for the day solemnly. But every time her essence faltered, he felt himself willing her to carry on. He'd never felt anything towards anyone. He had to be apathetic, otherwise his job would be that much harder. But something about this human. All the loss in her life. But he wasn't very fond of the aggressive semi-divine that guarded her alongside a large, daunting mare. Every time Death came about, the two and another gelding would become furious. They likely thought he was there to take her soul, but when he posed no threat, eventually they gave up. He would visit her often, wondering about the strange pull he had to her. Sometimes she would be happy and carefree as the wind. Other times, she would be thinking those horrible thoughts, the ones he couldn't bear to think of. She didn't want much to do with him at first, but as time passed, she came to him. He would stand while she just patted him. They were both unsure of the bond that connected them, but it was undeniable. Eventually, she would simply cry into his coat, and he would just stand, unsure of what else to do. But he would always wander away at the end of the day. Guaranteed, by the morning he would reappear to wish the young, troubled soul a good day. He would make sure she stayed okay throughout the day, but would always go around to do his duty. But he reserved about six hours of the day, a miniscule amount of time to him, but a seemingly life changing amount of time to her, just for her to stay with him. In reality, she didn't ever come into possession of him. He came into possession of her, in his own special way.

Relationships in the Herd:
with Alduin -- he and Alduin are very wary of one another, and they are not on the best terms. While Death is Alduin's uncle, they do not treat each other like family. They treat each other like strangers, never crossing paths on purpose.
with Iron Heart -- he is very drawn to Iron Heart, as was his brother. Something about the mare mystifies him, as she did his brother.
with HรVARรUR -- he is not sure what he thinks of the horse as the horse really confuses him.
