Short Story: Akina used to be on the dark side, and you can tell from the dark parts in her mane. She was born on the dark side, but as a young horse, she wanted to be bright. She liked how nice and welcoming the light side was. It took great bravery and strength but she finally did it and she pushed over to the light side. Of course, both sides disliked her at the time but she gained the light side's trust and her coat lighted up. But the dark side had cursed her with a dark mane to make her always remember her betrayal. The light has been slowly changing it, as you can see the white part of her mane. She is now accepted completely in the light side and many fillies look up to her. In fact, there is a story that all young light foals learn, that is based on Akina's life.

Solas personally feels just perfect on the light side. It's so comforting and bright, and her gentle and kind personality fits right in. Often she doesn't understand why any tolter would want to be on the dark side, for she fears not only the dark but being in violent situations where she's bullied or lashed out at- or worse, where she has to bully or lash out at others herself. Sure, she wonders what it'd be like to live on the dark side, but her heart belongs to those sunny, quiet days where she can lay peacefully under the ancient trees, side by side with mother nature herself, and dream of what's to come.
