The scarf:

(I tried not to make this 2,000 words long XD) Memphis walked along the droughty pathway, her intense turquoise eyes and feathers gleaming and shimmering beautifully. “They all have beautiful feathers. Mine are just…teal and boring. They all get compliments and I never do! Its unfair.” Tears flooded her face as she wept, her quiet cries coming noticed by nobody. “Memphis blue. Who’d notice that color?”
She looked at the scarf, thoughtfully, her eyes hunting it nonstop.
“Nah. Memphis isn’t the right color.” She scampered away from the worn out, torn abandoned scarf.
After hours and hours of crying, tearing and weeping, Memphis found a turquoise, beautiful, almost the same color as her beautiful, shimmery eyes and feathers, she thought about it hesitantly for a moment. But in a flash, she fell in love with the scarf.
“I…I love it. It may not get me much attention, but… its beautiful by heart and…wait?” She read the blood.
Let your death await.
But the message didn’t mean anything, really. Maybe the plumie whom abandoned it tried to leave lore?
Shrugging it off, Memphis put on her scarf and genuinely smiled, waddling and scrambling about the lush, rainy field.
She had oddly gained a connection to the scarf, but accepted it kindly.

But then he spotted a kitten with a scarf on the tree who couldn't get down. Kocio always wanted to save someone so he climbed on that tree and took it down. Kitty for gratitude gave him his scarf. Since that time Kocio wears that scarf as a reminder of his first saved living.

When does a plumie realize that it's time to grow up?

There was once a small, bright plumie who ran about the deepest parts of the Amazon with a sense of freedom. She was light on her feet and brave, confronting the myriad hazards of the rainforest with a certain coolness often seen in heroes. She was impossible to shoot down, and almost impossible to dislike. Almost. She is known to steal food, mostly for fun. She usually pays back, though! Usually.

She was called Ounce. Perhaps it was for her size. Perhaps it was for her markings. Perhaps, or most likely, it was for her "lightness". Some plumerians suspect that she can fly, which is, of course, not true. They had a point, however. She liked being 'up'. She's usually found up on trees, up a waterfall, or climbing. This might be related to how she is marked like a snowy mountain cat, but no one is ever sure.

What everyone was sure of, however, was that she wore a bright, sea green scarf that matches her feathers and her eyes. She received it some time ago, from the wind, so to speak. One day, she was looking out from the highest branches of the highest of trees when a bright piece of cloth just came out of nowhere and hit her in the face.

In the confusion that followed, she tumbled a few branches before getting partially caught up in cloth and tree, and regaining her footing.

"What is this?" she asked herself. There was hardly anything in the rainforest that resembled it!

She climbed up again, hoping to find some clue about where it came from. What she got were strange, loud whirring sounds and irritating smells. Turning toward them, she found... something confusing: machines, and trees flowing down the river.

"What is that?" another question.

Ounce ran down the tree and climbed through the dense leaf cover of the forest. She noticed a few plumerians run off, but it only pushed her on, green cloth in her teeth. She then remembered: this thing is a kind of human covering.

She had never before thought of humans as loud. Most of the time, they just liked watching and trying to stay out of sight. They brought strange and delicious food. The only annoying thing was the occasional flashy lights. Actually, the lights were rather pretty... most of the time.

This, however, was not pretty. These humans were... cutting trees. For one thing, she couldn't imagine why they would even need to, considering their reputation for strange materials and machines. She had a sample in her teeth right now!

Ounce was not one to sit still. She ran about them, possibly to look for ways to make them go away, causing a rustling in the trees. Somehow, they noticed. The bright cloth, though green, stood out somewhat from the leaves. It appeared... to fly. It sparked stories, then rumors. Ounce, of course, caused her own trouble.

It also caught the attention of the helpful humans.

From then on, the cloth never left her. She was the protector of the forest, and this was her symbol. She would never grow up.
