Maria flirts as often as she swims. In almost every conversation, she manages to find a way to flirt with someone. To her, flirting means very very little. She will flirt with anyone and everyone and mean nothing by it. In fact, most of the time when she meets a guy, she will often flirt for hours before leaving him with empty promises. This has landed her a reputation as sorts. What most people don't know, is that it's the guys she doesn't flirt with that she is actually interested.
Coy
When you ask most guys about Maria, they will tell you that she is very coy. She is always playing hard to get and never takes a guy up on any offers. When asked out, she shoots them down with a smile and a serious, "Thank you, but I'm not interested." This normally gets even the manliest Aruba to leave her alone. If not, she just smiles and swims away. This has lead more Aruba to chase her although they all get turned down in the end. Really though, she wants a guy who will wait until she asks him out.

Maria is called mysterious by almost every female Aruba. They are the ones that realize that she never really tells anyone about herself. No one has ever seen the cave she lives in and no one has any idea what type of shiny treasures she likes to collect. Her past and family are a mystery yet no one can remember exactly when she showed up. When asked about her past, or any other personal question, Maria just deflects it with a smile and a wink.

Maria is also very....persuasive you could say. She is able to convince those around her to do things even if they don't really want to. Somehow, she knows how to get almost everyone to do things. Not necessarily for her own benefit though. She's been seen helping others who have made an imprint on her.
Shattered
The one trait that no one ever sees is the one trait that has to define Maria the most. While she puts on a coy and flirtatious mask that has become a part of her being, on the inside...she is completely shattered. She curls up in a small ball to sleep and often has nightmares about the tragic death of her mother and sister and eventually her father. Sometimes, she can barely stand to swim out of her cave. Her father taught her to never show weakness though so she flirts and hides her past with a mysterious air.
