Advantages: Speed - Raleigh has quite a bit of speed built up - this makes her a great Western horse.
Agility - Raleigh is a bit smaller and very agile. She is light on her feet and can turn on a dime.
Disadvantages: Jumping - This mare has trouble jumping - she has never been tought property, and just doesn't have to means for it.
Endurance - She's a fast little thing, but not for very long. Raleigh does much better in shorter bursts of speed, not long cantering.
Likes: Bustle - Raleigh likes the busy noise of a barn. She likes the stream of people that comes through all the time.
Having a job - Raleigh needs something to do. She likes to be busy herself.
Herd comfort - This mare enjoys company. The safety and comfort of a herd helps her well being.
Dislikes: Boredom - She is driven crazy by doing nothing. It makes her feel useless.
Deafening Quiet - Quiet makes Raleigh feel solitary and nervous. She hates it.
Loneliness - Raleigh despises being alone. It makes her afraid of more noises, and jumpy.
Fears: Water - Raleigh refuses to go near most all streams, rivers, lakes, and oceans. She will step in puddles, drink, and have baths, but not much else. It's less of a fear, more of a caution. And it all began a warm summer day two and a half years ago.
At six months old, little miss Raleigh was the typical curious, playful, and haphazard foal. She was accidentally let out, and went on a little adventure with some other foals. They took a short playdate in the forest, and found a lovely stream. It was not a river, but still wide and deep enough for a filly like Raleigh to not be able to touch the bed. When she got to close, trying to be all brave in front of her friends, she fell into the cold, autumn water. Although the current was not strong, Raleigh was very frightened when she did not feel solid ground, and couldn't swim well. It took her a while to get out, after a hard time paddling to where she could stand and being pushed down the stream a little ways. Needless to say, Raleigh didn't end up trying that again.
Electric Fence - This mare cannot be put in a field with Electric Fencing. In fact, she will not let herself be led into a field with it - she will pull, buck, rear, and nip or bite until they take her away from it all. She is quite scared of the wire, and not just because it shocks when you get near. Now, Raleigh has to be placed in a simple fence pasture.
At the age of two, Raleigh was sold to a huge ranch. After a short quarantine, she was let out to stretch her legs and romp in an empty field. For two years, Raleigh had been comfortable with white-wood fences. So she was indeed curious of what this wire that clicked could be! She didn't check it out at first, but than ran towards it finally, all at once. In all her excitement, she could not slow down, and Raleigh slammed herself into the wire. When she got shocked, surprised, the mare attempted to leap away. However, her leg was caught and she slipped. She made such a racket, though, the ranch hands for to her before anything worse could happen. She got off with a small wound on her leg and a new fear. Now, she doesn't dare go near that wire!
Heavy Thunderstorms - There's not too much behind this - loud noises, heavy rain, bolts of lightning - it strikes fear right into Raleigh.
Discipline: Cutting
Future Plans: Plans I would make for Raleigh would include:
-Cutting tack
-Mane and tail edits(?)
-Multiple breedings
-Involved in future tryout stories
-Art and color-ins
Future Breedings: Ghost Pepper - This buckskin leopard appaloosa will surely produce a beautiful colt or filly with Raleigh - maybe even a lovely pintaloosa foal?
Dauntless - This handsome strawberry roan will surely fit well with Raleigh's sorrel overo.
Outlaw - A wild red roan pintaloosa plus a feisty sorrel overo - a beautiful foal!
Lionheart - My two dream horses together for a dream foal!
Crush/Mate: Lionheart - There's some chemistry! These two lovebirds are sure to have some foals in the future! Lionheart is a young and strapping stallion and Raleigh is a beautiful mare - the perfect pair, I feel!
Best Friend: Wildfire - Wildfire and Raleigh met when Raleigh first showed up. Wildfire was the crazy, fiesty, and a untrained mare. Raleigh was a bit frightened when Wildfire was placed in her pasture. The mare galloped around for the longest time, bucking and rearing and kicking. Once Wildfire settled, she came right to Raleigh. After chatting, Raleigh was pleased to have found a quite crazy best friend. She liked Wildfire quite a bit. The two mares kindled a friendship and have lots of fun.
Friends: Genetics - These two met when Raleigh was placed in a stall next to him. They love chatting from their stalls and over the pasture fences! He is male, but there is no current chemistry and no plans for breeding the two - they are just great friends!
Avalon - Raleigh saw young Avalon with her first foal when she was in the pasture. Once her foal grew up, Avalon ended up being placed in Raleigh's pasture!
Symphony - Symphony is a good friend that Raleigh met when they became pasture buddies.
Theme Song: "Young Love" - Kip Moore

Show Name: Darkest Before Dawn
Barn Name: Dawn
Breed: Mustang
Height: 15.1 hh
Gender: Mare
Age: 3
Personality and a bit about Dawn:Dawn is more on the quiet side. She is very calm and easy going. She enjoys her discipline of Western Trail. When she is not busy training or at an event, she spends most of her time trail riding. She often takes groups of people on horses through the forest and meadows. Every once in a while she will take people through the same trail on a carriage with another horse. Dawn also volunteers at a local animal shelter and veterinarians. She acts as a therapy horse for the people who are nervously waiting for their pets after a surgery or other procedure. She also plays with the children while they wait for their pets if their getting a check up and is even used to get cats or dogs used to being with other animals if they need it. She also enjoys just grazing in her pasture and relaxing. However, she does have a sassy side. She can be a bit of a princess at times.
Discipline:Dawn's discipline is Western Trail.
History:Dawn was actually a rescue. We found her injured in the forest on a trail riding session when she was a foal. We had two tour guides that day, Meghan and Alison. Alison stayed with the group and carried on with the tour. Meghan stayed behind with the foal. She called in to the ranch for help. The veterinarian team, along with a few of the ranch workers came. Meghan was a full veterinarian and Alison was a veterinarian technician, but everyone took turns giving trail rides to visitors. The vets, including Meghan, looked her over, and clarified that the foal had not bite marks or scratches from other animals. Her left back leg had been caught in a fox trap, which was also illegal since the forest was protected because of the trail rides and wild horses. Luckily, it wasn't to bad, her hoof had protected her from most of the horrible scratches, but she had broken her ankle. The team put her onto the sled they had brought to carry her back on and made a rap around her leg. When they got back the veterinarians immediately took the foal into the medical rooms. The ranch workers reported the illegal fox trap and the rangers came to put an outdoor security camera where the Fox trap had been to try and figure out who put it there. The vets announced that the foal was ok, and that it would have to wear a cast for a while. They also announced that the foal was a Filly, and they decided to name her Dawn. They then took her to a foster mother since she was only about 4 months old and was still nursing. Dawn was ok with her cast, but she didn't like to sit still. She soon learned she would have to at times in order for her leg to heal. By the time Dawn's cast was taken off, she was a large filly, almost 11 months old. She started to go out in the forest with a guide at 12 months old. She soon started her training for western trail, which the staff thought would suit her, at about 2 years old. She started trail riding and volunteering at the shelter a little later. She went through a therapy horse class so she could be a therapy horse at the shelter. She was a full grown horse. She has been doing great ever since.

Story: My face burned red. I was surrounded and engulfed by the hearty laughter of men, laughing and laughing. At me. I should have never said it. Maybe they were right. Maybe I couldn't. I burned with fury, standing tall in front of the crowd.
'Little lady, you come from the city. A city slicker. There is no way you and your pretty English horses could ever barrel race, bend, rope or go droving.' He chuckled, downing a drink. I scowled, snatching the glass right out of the man's hand and staring him straight in the eyes.
'You bet?'
He looked at me in surprise, swallowing slowly. His face transformed into a smug look, grinning at me. 'You're on.'
I gripped my helmet, shoving it on my head and clipping it up. I inhaled slowly, the morning sun's rays defrosting my toes and fingers. I had tried to put on my best western look, wearing some jeans, a flannelette shirt and some dusty boots. I stepped into the barn, taking no time to mess around. The man came out to meet me, a saddle and bridle in his hands. 'Ready?' he dumped the saddle in my arms. 'We have a great horse for you.' I could see a smirk appear on his face, disappearing just as fast.
He gestured to the round yard, where a beautiful young mare was standing. She instantly came to attention. I slipped into the yard to meet her, and she nickered, bobbing her head as I stroked her forehead. 'No time to mess around, lady.'
'It's Aria.' I spat back at him, grabbing the bridle from the post. I approached her calmly, pulling the bridle over her head and trying to put the bit in her mouth. She raised her head sharply, backing up. I snuck a secret look at the man. He was chuckling quietly to himself. I approached the mare again, this time meaning business. I had the bit in her mouth in moments. I shot another look at the man, and the smile was wiped off his face.
I was glad I remembered how to cinch a western saddle, because after I had put the blanket and saddle on the upset mare's back, I had almost forgotten. The mare paced anxiously as I did the cinch up properly. I walked her up to the man, this time, the smirk on my face. I think I knew what was up, but I continued as usual. He entered the ring in shock, shoving a hat into my hands. You don't need to ride with that thing. He pointed to my helmet. I knew is was best to stay safe, but I had to prove myself. I chucked the helmet back, and switched it for the hat. Checking the cinch once more, I placed my left foot in the stirrup and swung my leg over. I was right. And things suddenly got a whole lot worse.
