thanks to palindrome. for the avatar ^^June 23ndToday is the day! My mum and i starred at the clock since two hours, now. The protractor called us 7.00 this morning, that he cargo mashine landed an hour ago and that he received our "purveyance" and is on the road from Franfurt a.M. to our home near Cologne. I swear, half an our further and i will be ready for the asylum! Then, the telephone rings again, our neighbour, who tells us that this moment a trailer drives the small road throught our village (the village we life, is very small and we knows each other) towards our stables.
I squeals out in exitment and graps my car keys before my mum was able to react.
"cmmon!" I squieks. "Hurry up! This is my baby!"
"Calm down, dear!" my mum laughs, but sets herself in motion, too.
We gallops down the stairs and jumps into my old Audi, which springs creaks remonstrative. I start the motor and with a loud roar of the engine we dart off. Two minutes later my poor old car has to bomb down the last meters over the dirt road goes to our stables and stops in a selfmade mist out of dust. A short moment, the notion strikes me, that such a performance is just the wrong way to welcome an animal lifed in wilderness till yesterday and is now pressed into a cargo transporter first and than into a trailer, in whole, into our world. "Congrats, stupid one!" i think, and steps out annoyed about my birdy brain and starts going towards the parked trailer. A man steps out of the driver´s cap and smiles tired.
"Good morning, mam. I´m sorry, my day started early today, where i can unload the horse?" he snorred.
"The second entry, where the roundpen and the riding paddock is attached." I answered in exitment "Best possibility would be, if you are able to drive the ramp directly to the gate and she can steps out without being touched." My anger at myself was blown away immediately.
Meanwhile, my mum stepped away a few meters and was on the fone. I speculate that she calls, Kai, our trainer, that the eagerly awaited "parcel" arrived.
The driver switches the ramp directly in front to the gate, with few fence tape, we will be able to connect both safely.
My heart bumps loud as drums in my breast and head and my hands palm gets warm and wet for compressing them in exitment. I stand fixedly like a statue with bated breath while i watch the driver disconnecting the ramp bars. Temporary i winced under a hand touching my shoulder. It was Kai standing behind me, now, in awe-stricken silence, too. He is a middle-aged, good looking and a little overstyled man with blonde hair and a friendly facial expression. And he is a god-like horse trainer ...
my trainer i think in awe.
A loud "bump" pulled me back into reality. The driver has dropped down the ramp which was acknowledged from the inside with a disgusted snort. That was the first sign of life i heard from my new pupil - i began to tremble in agitation. My mum, Kai and me are starring like spellbounded into the dark innerside of the trailer. A shadow was moving slowly see-saw, undecided to move. This moment, my world stands still.
Everybody has ever unloaded a more or less untaimed horse, knows, this can be a very long timed venture. Everyone is dying in exitment and it happens .... nothing! This time, also. Five minutes later our tired driver was groaning in despair.
"Miss, when your princess ..."
My mum giggles "Princess, wonderful! The princess and the pea! Dear, isn´t it a fitting name?!" - I chastise her with an annihilating gaze.
"Yeah, Miss ..." - the driver used the second chance "... i have to keep my deadlines. When she isn´t out within ten minutes, i have to boost forcefully. I´m sorry."
I gifted him my look of death, too, and he shuts up directly and gave a little cough for his uncomfortable situation.
Kai smirked and tipped with his finger on my shoulder.
"Take a look, darling. The princess honours our party with presence."
I turned around slowly and saw my lady first time. A beautiful and dainty red dun mare stands wide-eyed and with swelled nostrils somekind of misplaced and motionless in the middle on the paddock. Her muscles were drawn like a bow under her fur, ready for fleeing every second.
She starred at us, in her face a mixture of mistrust and interest - a good sign, i thought that moment.
"Seems she'
"Oh my gosh!" my mum whispers "She looks really good ... and healthy.
Satisfactory nutritional condition, clear eyes ... hm .... what i can see even unbroken hooves and dry nostrils. And wonderful aureate fur. Lucky you, Cat, your horse is a beauty!" my mum snorred expertly, directly in her element.
Perhaps a little diarrhoea when i rate the dark crusted blotches on her ankles." Kai added "But, for the stress she must had have during the hunt and the cargo, it's o.k.."
I nodded in content. A good first impression and an endless proud Mustang owner, i smiled.
