WHAT IS A MAKOATL?

A Makoatl is a terrestrial shark-dragon hybrid recently discovered off the coast of the greenland sea. They have the powerful tail and jaws of a shark, with the body and (occasional) horns of a dragon. They usually have manes, and are covered in thick coats of fur-adapted to keeping out the cold in their native habitat. They live on a diet of mainly meat and fish, and are known to be vicious hunters! Despite this attitude toward their prey, however, they are very protective and mothering to their offspring, as well as to each other the majority of the time.

The cerulean waves skidded over the pebbly shore. The coastline was barren, save for a small cluster of rock-clinging penguins. Them and a small family of makoatls.
It was a mother, a father, their older relatives, and their son, Akins. Akins was what you would call a wild spirit; he wasn’t one for chores or order, he preferred “controlled chaos” and adventure. Living all alone on the southern-most tip of South Africa was not all too enjoyable, and he craved for a change in sceneray. He heard stories from merchants passing around the tip of the continent to get to the east. They told tales of vast cities in the north, modernizations in the west, and enchanting tales to the east. What interested Akins the most, however, was the tales from the south.
There wasn’t much in the south. In fact, for a long time many believed there was nothing in the south, only the end of the world. But a many brave explorers (all of who Akins admired) had journeyed south to discover just what was there, and they returned with fascinating news.
A world of ice and snow lay far south. Orcas patrolled the sea, huge, speckled seals swam the shoreline, but what captivated Akins the most were the land’s inhabitants. Giant, white, lumbering creatures called polar bears prowled the frigid land, and penguins twice the size of the ones inhabiting his home’s shoreline resided there as well. It was Akins dream to swim there as well and explore the Ice Land.
His father told him no every time he brought it up; “your relatives are old and frail and need looking-after, and we need you to stay behind and carry on our legacy.” This infuriated Akins. “Legacy? What legacy! What have we accomplished here, on this lonely, rocky shore? The only time I get a taste of adventure is from the merchant’s stories, and you and mother both know that isn’t enough to satisfy me!” His father merely glared at him and left him there on the spot. His mother thought differently though; she wanted him to go out and see the world, but she too feared her husband’s rage.
One silent, cloudless night, Akins sat along on the shore staring up at the sliver of the moon. “Akins,” called a soft voice, which he recognized as his mother’s, “Akins, can I speak with you for a moment?” He simply turned his head and glanced back at her, “sure,” he replied simply.
She sat beside him, following his gaze. She let out a small sigh. “Akins, I know what you’re thinking, but your father won’t let you go through with it.” Akins ignored her and looked on. He didn’t care what his father said; he had made up his mind that evening. “I’m not staying here,” he replied defiantly. “I’m leaving tonight for the Ice Land, and no one, not even father can stop me.” He waited for her to protest, but she merely shook her head.
“Akins, I want you to go and pursue your dream, I really do, but you know he won’t allow it; he’ll disown you if you leave, you’ll never be able to return!”
Akins turned on the spot and faced his mother, cold rage building, “I don’t care what he does! I’m never coming back to this wretched, this deserted, this, this… this prison of a home! I’m leaving tonight, right now, and heading south, south until I reach the ice, see the orcas, feel the snow beneath my own paws!” He glared at her, daring her to tell him something else.
“So…so be it then, Akins.” He looked at her with a surprised look on his face. “I see that I can’t control you, so I’ll simply encourage you.” She looked at him lovingly, and his expression softened. “Mother I,I’m sorry-“
She shushed him gently, then continued, “Quiet Akins, please, I know, I know. All I ask is that you go on to travel south to the Ice Land, go on, and swim, and don’t stop.”
“Go and discover, my brave boy.”

since day one of their arrival. This boy's color and design caught my attention, and I saw potential in him that I just couldn't ignore.
I went for a very simple approach, and avoided a personality section so that you could instead discover him through a story. He'll never let his emotions on, say I love you, or apologize(unless he truly feels horrible).[/size][/color]

He actually doesn't care about others looks, but does notice good looking individuals in comparison to lacking individuals. He'll spend forever making sure his hair is right, his fur is down pat, because his motto is "My Customers by Me, not my products." Which basically means that his customers come in, and he sells his candles, not his candles selling themselves.[/size][/color]

While some become obsessed with collections, he became passioned with his candles. Born from his grandmother's love of new scented candles, Fawn tried to his hardest to come up with new ideas. This fueled his addiction and he created his own shoppe. Now, he actually lives in his candle shoppe, and never leaves it unless need be.[/size][/color][/center][/size]
