- story of the beads ;;
- The beads on Channel's are a reminder of her downfall. Channel's parents used to spoil her so; anything she wanted, she received, and Channel was never short in desires. She particularly liked things that glittered, like gems or jewelry. Of course, this was very expensive, and her mother and father were wary to spend their money on such frivolous things. But all Channel had to do was a throw a fit and they'd oblige. This led to Channel having a very nasty personality.
One day, after a particularly bad tantrum, Channel's parents sought advice. They hired a behavioral counselor to try nip this problem in the bud. Alas, Channel just rebelled and started to be even more of a brat than before. Desperate, her parents tried again, but to no avail. Over and over, they sought to change their daughter for the better, but nothing worked. Until one day, they came across an elderly dragon, who told them how to reform Channel. Her parents were reluctant at first, but they complied anyways. They outcast her from their village to live alone in the mountains, and she could only return when she learned self respect. The only thing they allowed her to take with her was a string of beads, the color of her eyes. They were not expensive or rare like so many other trinkets she owned, but these beads were much more symbolic, showing that the value was not important, but the meaning.
At first, Channel was convinced that her parents would regret dumping her in the middle of nowhere and return for her. For seven days she waited, but for seven days her parents did not come for her. She started going through stages. First stage: Anger. How dare they dump her in the middle of nowhere, with only a useless trinket, and expect her to survive on her own?! When they came crawling back, she would not forgive them. Stage two: Fear. What if they really weren't going to get her? What if she starved out there, or got eaten by a lion? Nobody would even know she died! Stage three: Acceptance. Okay, so what if her parent weren't going to get her? She could survive on her own. She didn't need them.
Currently, Channel lives alone, still trying to find herself. Her memories of home have faded, and the only reminder being the beads on her tail. This is the story of her beads.
