Eclissato Luna (eclipsed moon) and The Amulet of The MoonOnce upon a time in a land far away there was a small baby dragon named Eclissato Luna, or Eclipsed Moon. Nobody knew why that was her name, was it the fact that she was born on the night of a lunar eclipse? Or had she done something to earn the name? Either way that was her name. She had very little friends growing up, all were afraid of her dark gem since both her parents and most children and adults in her forest had light gems. She didn't know why it was that big of a deal, she didn't know what a black gem meant, how was she to know when nobody wanted close enough to tell her. The only other dragon with a black gem was considered a witch by these dragons, however Eclissato still sought her out. Upon finding the small cottage where the witch lived she asked one question 'how will I get my friends to accept me?" The witch gave one answer in a mysterious voice that had a dark ring to it "Over the hills, under the moon, during eclipse, in a snow covered land, the eclipsed one will find the amulet." Then all was silent, save for the chirping of birds in the trees, who's carefree tune hinted at nothing ever having happened that day.
5 Years Later The dragon leaped over the branch with ease
run, run, RUN!!!! the only thought that her brain possessed
gotta run faster! The mountain lion had almost caught up to her and the only thing keeping her hopeful of escape was the ledge near by, it dropped into nothingness and would allow her to take off and fly far far away from the beast. Why was she here? Where were her friends? What was unknown to most but she knew perfectly well. She was here to find the amulet, revealed to her 5 years ago. For 5 years she hunted for it, searched for it, and failed, but now she knew. She knew where it was, it was obvious, how did she ever miss it? It was on Mount Nothing, named after the darkest of dragons, who's dark gem was as onyx as pure darkness and looking into it you had the feeling of being lost and despair, as if you were trapped, in the dark, never ending, abyssal of space. He was so feared that even after his death none dared speak of his name, as if even uttering a syllable of it would promise his return. Decades passed, then centuries, then millenniums, and his name was long forgotten. Despite how hated he was his legend lived on, and although her town banned the full telling of the story while she was young she heard simplified stories, none of which could help her now however a travailing story teller told her all she needed to know. Although it was similar to her one sentence she had never before heard "and upon the most dreaded peak, lay the amulet of the feared one." The most dreaded peak was Mount Nothing and she knew deep in her heart that the object of her desire lay there. As for her friends, she had none. She reached the ledge and leaped a split second before the lion was going to catch her and rip her to shreds. Mount Nothing was near, she could feel the eternal coldness that draped the area like a long flowing cloak. Her paws were hard and rough, having grown hard during the 5 years of travel and her wings, although soreness hunted them for the past 5 years had grown strong and well muscled. Most of all, despite her still small size due to the malnutrition she suffered during the 1st year learning to hunt and forage she was well muscled and lean, one would not recognize her for the small little ball of fur she was 5 years ago. She settled down for the night high in a tree and slept, but not for long, by our time she would of fell asleep at 3am and awoken at 5am, however small the sleep was it was normal for her and she continued on. Days passed of flying, one bush here one there, oh look a tree, that's a change of scenery. Since anything bigger than a bush was growing rarer and rarer until she reached it, Mount Nothing. The peak was up high, and she was tired. Although she failed to show it old injuries haunted her every step, sending waves of pain quite frequently, and she felt dizzy with exhaustion and hunger, but still she went on. For days she climbed, eating what little berries she could find until she was nearly there. Then it happened, nightfall. A thin wail could be heard, and she finding what little strength was left in her ran towards it as steadily it grew louder. It drowned out the thundering wind, drowned out the feeling of pain as thousands of ice cold snowflakes beat at her face, it left her feeling senseless. As if all that had existed was now, as her paws thundered down on the ground with a steady thrumming her mind was empty. Nothing existed. Nothing but the wail. Around midnight she stopped and as she stopped the wailing did to, and so did the wail, and the wind and snow, until hours later the clouds blew out and the moon was revealed, and a lunar eclipse was starting. As the final ray of moonlight died a small amulet appeared on the ground, instinctively putting it on thousands of thoughts fell about her. She was the forgotten dragon, paws racing as she fled, she didn't mean for it to happen. A young dragon was attacked and she killed the attacker, while paralyzing the young dragon. It was an accident. As surely as the sun would rise in the morning she would give anything for it to be reversed, for her to be paralyzed, not the young one. Days passed, weeks passed, months passed and she found herself cornered, upon the very place Eclissato Luna was and cowered in fear. A voice ringed, the voice of the head magister, who lead the hunt for her "You harmed the innocent, and for that you will pay, you have always loved the moon so we will trap you in it. For all of eternity it will be your prison." With that they left and the forgotten dragon was left with sobs and wails as she faded away. Unknown to all as the final tear fell an amulet formed, one to hold memories, one to hold history, one to hold the wrong that was done that day, only to reveal itself on a lunar eclipse. And as the memories faded she was left feeling stronger than before, more powerful than before and as a dark glittering shadow crawled down from the moon she roared with triumph. She was now the forgotten dragon, the forgotten dragon was now her, they were one as long as she wore the necklace, and although this also added on to her loving nature it brought with it hatred, hatred of all who would lock up an innocent soul, hatred of the mages and magisters who's white gems gleam like stars, and most of all hatred of all who had used her as a scratching post in the past years. With that she flew off, faster than before, stronger than before, and with the knowledge of her gem. How to use it for what it was. A weapon of mass strength and destruction.
