An imaginative, geeky bean from the future (supposedly) wrote:
Nova truly believes she's from the future. According to her, she came to the twenty first century in a prototype time machine and became stranded when it was damaged in a test run. Much like an old veteran tells stories of the past, Nova tells others of the wonders from the future. Many don't believe her seemingly incredulous tales, but Nova doesn't bother much with these types. Instead, she prefers to acquaint herself with minds open enough to consider she may be telling the truth. To those narrow-minded heads that scream "impossible!" she simply scoffs and says, "The whole universe is one big possibility." As you can imagine, Nova is a firm believer of the supernatural. Ghosts, Nessie, trolls, why couldn't they be real? And don't even get her started on aliens, or she'll rattle off on you about her best friend from the future being an alien. For a future girl, Nova can be rather geeky. She loves playing video games, and you'll often find her with her eyes glued to a screen trying to beat the high score. Space is the only thing Nova loves more than gaming. A telescope on a clear night is paradise for her.

As a side note, the log entries are supposed to be one story, just organized into a journal/diary type thing. Sorry if the whole thing seems a little short, I purposely tried (and failed a bit) to keep it under 3 entries so you didn't have to read a re-creation of the Odyssey.

I can't believe it. I can't believe this is really happening. It seems like it was only yesterday when I got the digital letter that would make my dreams come true. But now, just a few short months and a drab series of trainings later, I'm going to be the first Jellybean Dragon ever to travel through time. I'm so excited, I was hardly able to sleep last night! The ITS decided on my destination two weeks ago, the twenty first century. I'll only be there a little while as a test, and I'll have to keep a boring log of pretty much everything (Note to self: Delete this log entry before turning it into the Institute when I get back), but this is all just so amazing, I don't think I'll even mind. I better get ready, the launch starts at 9:00 AM sharp and I definitely won't want to be late for this.

Oh my gosh, it worked, I'm really here! I'm really in the past! I don't know the exact location, but who cares about the where, all that's important is the when. I said earlier I couldn't believe it was real, but now I can. Time travel is really possibly and I'm really almost half a century in the past. It's a bit of a shame I'm only here for a couple days. But at least this means that the ITS will be able to launch more and hopefully longer missions. And hey, if all else fails, I do have a time machine. I could stay here for a year and they'd probably never notice (Note to self #2: Forget the first note and just revise the whole log before going back). Either way, I need to make my time here worth it.

Wow, everything's gone by so fast I've completely forgotten about my log until now! I hope this doesn't affect my chances of getting another mission.

That aside, I found out my time machine landed in a place called Sunset View Park. It's luckily in a pretty secluded part of the park surrounded by lots of trees, so no one would be able to find and steal it (Of course, I still activated the security system just in case). With the time machine secured, I was able to take my first steps into the world of the twenty first century, and what interesting first steps they were! So much has changed-- or rather, will change. Their cars don't hover off the ground like ours do, and they've only made manned space missions as far as the moon! But through all these changes, some things have stayed the same. I was able to talk to some Jellybean Dragons and it doesn't seem as though we've evolved to be much different from them. I'm really curious to see what else the past has to offer, but I just found out my time machine is programmed to automatically return to the future tomorrow at 7:00 AM. Guess the Institute figured I might be tempted to stay a bit longer. Ah well, at least I can enjoy this beautiful sunset on my last night. Now I know why they call it Sunset View Park.

Oh gosh...oh gosh oh gosh. I'm in deep water. The time machine broke! I don't know what happened...It was powering up just fine when suddenly, fwooosh! The control panel just blew. I took a peek at the wiring and they were covered in ice cream! I admit I may have been a little careless with dessert last night, but I didn't know they would make the wires explode. I was taught the basic maintenance in my training in case something happened, but it wasn't meant to fix this kind of damage. I don't know what to do! This technology is nearly 500 years more advanced than anything this time period has, it'd be a miracle to find anyone who can understand even the basic components. I know I said I wanted to stay here longer, but I didn't mean it like this! Oh, what a pickle I've gotten myself into...

fate has brought us together, and fate has brought us apart, but the thing that you must remember, is that fate always comes from the heart ~

// username //
I'm Charchar2, nice to meet you ^^

// name //
fate
/fāt/
Noun
“ The development of events outside a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power. ”
Synonyms
destiny - lot - doom - fortune - kismet

Honestly, this name isn't some fancy one in a different language. It is what it is. Fate. But it took me a while to decide, all the same. I kept bouncing between several names, but I kept coming back to Fate. It short and snappy, but unusual; it catches your attention and holds it. I think it fits her perfectly ~ <3

// gender //
I couldn't resist illustrating this section |D
Image
translation: female xD

// personality //
When you first hear of Fate, you may get the wrong idea about her because of what she is; an alien hunter. But she's not cruel or blood-thirsty or truly most things you'd imagine when you hear that. Firstly, she doesn't kill them, though they often try to kill her. She and other members of the Headquarters use special freeze-ray guns that freeze the aliens and send them back to their home planets. No physical harm done, though they'll think twice before trying to attack her planet again; being frozen for light-years can certainly get uncomfortable. She loves the importance and excellence of her job, saving her home planet from any invaders who don’t mean peace.
But enough about her job, let’s hear more about her. Fate is terribly bold, reckless, and headstrong. She’s generally not one to think things through too carefully before she does them, and certainly one to “throw caution to the wind,” as they say. She’ll never say no to a challenge, and if you insult her ... watch out. She’s also not one to leave unfinished business, with determination both for getting a mission completed and getting revenge. She’s very adventurous, and you could say she’s smart, too. Not book-smarts, of course, nor the type of wisdom that would keep her out of trouble, but she is very skilled at getting out of sticky situations. She despises girly-girls and isn’t afraid of getting dirty. At all. With anything.
Fate is a rough-and-tumble girl, independent, and more than able to defend herself.

First off, I wrote a little story about how she got here ^^

The memories danced before my eyes like fireflies, and I snatched at them greedily and held their warm glow to my chest. They were comforting, answers the questions that swirled around in my mind. Who am I? Fate, I am Fate. That brought a sigh of reassurance to me. Of course, Fate, that was me. Where am I? I looked around and couldn’t tell. That stole away the warm reassurance that had blanketed me. Why am I here? And with that a rush of memories came tumbling back into my head, scrambling over each other, each demanding attention. And I realized how I came here.

-

I jumped out of bed an hour early that morning, my heart pounding with excitement and adrenaline. I had hardly slept all night, I was too excited and nervous about what was going to happen today. Sure, I had been through plenty of missions before, but never one this important and certainly never one against so powerful an enemy; a Cydroid. And not just any Cydroid, but the leader of them all. I was to lead a small elite team against him and battle him off at all costs.

They had found their way into Sedna’s atmosphere several days earlier, and brought with them chaos and destruction. So far none of Sedna’s inhabitants had been harmed as far as I knew, but that was just sheer luck. The Cydroids had no mercy; no soul, some said. Like overgrown praying mantis of silver and blue, each arm a deadly weapon, they weren’t an enemy to be scoffed at.

I laced my boots, and spent the next hour or so fiddling nervously with my freeze-ray gun. It was the best sort of gun, freezing aliens and sending them back to their home planets light-years away without even harming them. I ran my hands over its comfortingly cool, silvery surface and then stuck it in my pocket, ready to be pulled out at a moment’s notice. It was time.

I darted out into the hallway from my room, closing the door quietly behind me so I didn’t wake the others, still sound asleep. I practically ran to the Headquarters, my heart thumping in my chest and urging me to go faster, faster, faster! I skidded to a stop outside the metal door and peered in through one of the many clear bubbles. Ms. Q was waiting for me inside. It was never a good thing to keep her waiting, so I took a deep breath, smoothed my fur, opened the door and stepped inside.

“Good morning, Fate,” she said simply, pulling out a large file. “Now, it seems that all your previous teammates are ... preoccupied,” she said, with an acidity at their pulling out like vinegar in her voice, “so you will go alone.” Alone? The word hung in the air of the empty room like a curse. Alone? All alone? A broad grin split my face. More glory for me! More excitement for me! “Okay, Ms. Q,” I said, trying not to let my excitement show. “Should I leave now?”

“Your space pod is waiting outside,” she said, standing up to leave. A little bit of worry flitted onto her face. “You be careful, alright Fate?” I knew I was one of her favorite agents, but couldn’t she see I could take care of myself? “I’ll be fine, don’t worry,” I reassured her, turning to leave myself. She laughed. “Of course you will. Watch out for scramble guns, now!” We both laughed and then I turned and practically sprinted out the door. It wouldn’t do to be late!

I climbed swiftly into the red-bronze space pod and took the wheel, steering towards the pre-coordinated point that the Agency knew was the most likely spot for the wily Cydroid to be. I set the pod on auto-pilot and looked out the window as Sedna’s reddish surface sped by, and I thought about what Ms. Q had said with a fond smile. It was a joke between us, the idea of ‘scramble guns’ which I had been so afraid of when I first came here. I was certain that an alien would somehow - impossibly, as Ms. Q quickly reassured me - create a time-space scrambler gun, sending its target to a random point in time and space. Now I was over such silly fantasies, but at the time it seemed a terribly frightening possibility.

I whistled a little as I cruised along and stopped the pod just a little ways away from where the Cydroids were predicted to be. I craned my neck and looked in all directions but I saw no sign of them. The pod door popped open with a hiss and I stepped out cautiously onto Sedna’s red sands. The place was deserted. “Hello?” I called out tentatively. My voice bounced back at me but there was no answer. I stepped forward, my hand on my gun, a tiny bit of nerves spreading through me. I walked further and called out again, with the same result. I was turning around to go back to the ship when I felt the press of cold metal against my back. “Don’t ... move,” a reptilian voice hissed.

I suppressed a shiver from running through me. The Cydroid! He’d snuck up behind me! I noticed a small dugout in the ground and realized he had buried himself there, coming after me when I left the pod. I my lips together. This was not good. “So, you can’t take me on in a fair fight, huh?” I taunted, “Had to hide like a scared little baby then sneak up behind me?” A low hiss sounded from behind me and it was hot and dry and angry. “Be careful ... with your words ... little girl,” it said resentfully. The cold metal pressed harder against me. “What do you have on me anyway?” I said with a sarcastic little laugh. Bluffing, bluffing, bluffing. Cydroids were no idiots, but what else could I do?

A laugh, sounding like a dying chicken, erupted from the alien. He was waiting for me to ask this question. “You see ...” he whispered like crackling leaves, “you are on a mission to get me. But I, in fact, am on a mission to get you, as well ...” A trap! Even Ms. Q, back at Headquarters, had fallen for it. It was genius, really; pretend to be in the area and oblivious, wait until they send their best agent out, then strike ... but I bit my tongue because I realized he was still talking.

“So of course I brought a special weapon,” he hissed, a tiny bit of evil glee, maniacy, growing in his voice. “I know all about you, you know, and of course this had to be planned ... so I brought the perfect weapon. A scrambler gun.” I was too late to stop myself from gasping, a scared gasp that started tremors in my legs. “That’s impossible,” I said, trying to keep my voice from trembling. “Impossible,” I repeated, more firmly then I felt.

“Really? Is it ... now?” that voice repeated, that awful, terrible voice. “And is it that this so-called ‘best agent’ is truly a scaredy cat? I shan’t ... have so much fun ... sending a sissy through the fields of time ... and space,”A hot anger built up inside of me. How dare he! How. Dare. He. The bubble of anger burst and rage coursed through my veins. My golden eyes narrowed and I let out a huff of indignation. “Now ... this is getting ... more interesting ...” he said with a cackle of glee, “but ... I have you ... in checkmate ... you see ... and you cannot possibly ... be faster than me ...”

“I wouldn’t be so sure,” I said simply, calmly, reaching inconspicuously down towards my pocket. He realized what I was going to do a split second after I pulled it out, shining, glimmering silver and blue. My good old trusty freeze gun. I swivelled around on my heel, pointing it straight at him and pulled the trigger. For a fraction of a second, I saw terror fleet across his hideous face, then he hastily pulled his as well.

And then nothing.

-

I shook my head and pulled myself to my feet. For the sake of Sedna! At least I had gotten him, too, before I got blasted here on ... wherever here was. I looked around. Everything, as far as I could see, was green, green, green, and I felt homesick for Sedna’s golden oranges and deep reds. I explored and felt under my feet soft tufts of grass, a rarity on Sedna. Well, it was certainly softer than sand, and as I walked further I noticed a little red flower. I smiled a little. It was lovely. But it still didn’t tell me where in the galaxy I was ... or, I realized with a shiver, what year it was.

I wandered past tall, strong trees - yet another thing we had few of on Sedna! - and felt utterly, entirely lost. My eyes swept around searchingly, finding nothing familiar, and lit upon something coming towards me. A ... human? I squinted carefully. Yep, definitely a human. How strange ... they were quite rare aliens, and only found on one planet as far as I had learned.

Realization hit me like a wave. I must be on Earth! I remembered vaguely the day we had learned about it in School. It hadn’t been a particularly interesting planet, just one of many that sustained life and were terribly far away, but one thing had stood out to me about. First, that its indigenous species, humans, lived nowhere else in the galaxy - how horrible to have such small horizons! I pitied them so - and secondly, others of my species were commonly known to live there.

I turned to the human, wracking my brain for all the details we had learned about them in class. This one was a girl, like me, I could tell, but that was pretty much all I could remember. I’d just have to wing it. She approached cautiously but determinedly, a bit of panic in her eyes. I wondered why. I didn’t think I looked particularly intimidating. Normally I wouldn’t have minded my appearance, frightening or not, but this human might be my only chance of surviving this place and it just wouldn’t do to frighten her off. I looked down at my hands and noticed the extended gun, still upheld. Well, that could do it. I slipped it back into my pocket and looked at her again. She seemed slightly less nervous now.

I walked towards her cautiously, not especially nervous - humans were fairly defenseless, as far as aliens went - but not wanting her to fly away like a startled bird. “Hello?” she said questioningly. “Hello,” I replied, glad that she spoke English, the native language on Sedna as well, though it went by a different name. “Who are you?” she asked, and I rolled my eyes at the stupidity of the question. How could she not have heard of me, the famous hunter among the stars, protector of the innocent and vanquisher of evil? “Fate, of course,” I said simply, just to humor her. She looked slightly confused but shrugged. “Alright,” she replied amiably.

I didn’t spy the spark of recognition I had expected in her eyes, but maybe humans just didn’t show as much emotion as we do back on Sedna. Or maybe they’re simple-minded idiots who are totally out of the loop and haven’t heard of anyone important. Either way, there’d be more time to ask her about it later. I fell into step beside her as we emerged from the trees. “So, what’s the date?” I asked casually. She looked puzzled for a second, then replied “February 15th,”

I sighed. “No, what year is it?” I clarified. “Oh, 2013,” she said, as if it were common knowledge, like it was ridiculous that I didn’t know it. I’d been sent 40 years back in time! Surely there were lots of interesting things to learn about aliens at this time, I reassured myself. Everyone back at Headquarters was sure to be impressed when I got back. If I got back, I reminded myself, but I quickly pushed the thought away.

I followed the girl as we came out of the forest and to a huge black strip. I knew what it was, it was on the tip of my tongue ... a rod! Yes, that’s what it was, a rod, I was certain of it. But I couldn’t remember for the life of me what humans used these ‘rods’ for. The girl waited for a second, looking from left to right, left to right, expectant. I watched her curiously. Could we not just walk across the rod? I couldn’t see why not.

Just then, a huge machine, blaring orange rushed by, blowing my fur in my face. I gasped. It was like a space pod, but noisier, and bigger, and - I wrinkled my nose - much, much smellier. Not to mention that it didn’t hover. The girl laughed beside me. “That’s a car, you silly, just driving across the road!” A road. That was it, I’d known I was close. But a car? What in the world was that?

I’d definitely have a lot to learn, here on Earth. But then I thought of how impressed everyone would be when I returned home - I shook away that nagging if - with all this knowledge of this bizarre planet, and these odd aliens. Maybe Ms. Q would let me write their alien-log entry myself! Yes, I told myself, that’s how smart and expert on the aliens I would be. And the girl didn’t seem as if she’d mind me coming with her, wherever it was that she was going.

Yes, I decided, maybe I’d stick around a little while longer ...

the end ... for now ^^
agh I'm sorry its so long! ;^;
it didn't seem as long when I was writing it up in a Google Doc, I'm really very sorry D;

And secondly, a piece of art I made of her with her trusty alien-freezing gun <3

Hi, I'm *blackraven* or Raven.. or BR.. I don't care! xD this will be my -insert failure number of attempts- time trying out for a Dragon, and to be honest, its getting harder and harder to deal with the failure. Its like I'm smiling, and I'm happy because I know the other forms were better, but on the inside I am slapping myself in the face for my stupidness. I know right? I'm not crazy -le scoots away-

Bean's Name

Athena

I named Her Athena, because Athena is the goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, warfare (not as much as Ares, but he's a guy so..), mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill. Athena loves Video games, because she has the strategy and warfare aspect to her. She also likes aliens, for she claims she has the wisdom and skill to catch a glimpse of one of the others in the other world. (she's not crazy either, I can assure you ;D). Those other aspects I will save for the tale I will twist, just look at that story! xD

Gender

Female

I would have chosen to make her female.. even if we didn't have to. I just see a girlish thing in her, I can;t explain it. I also love how her personality have not a single girl trait (well, not any of mine xD)

Her personality
Likes
Aliens
What can she say? Aliens fascinate her, they make her crave more knowledge, their whole "are we real or what?" factor to them.
Paranormal
Ahh, the other side. Again, with the whole "are we real?" factor to them, she just loves scary things, he adrenaline that she takes in from being in a haunted place, as if she absorbs the last of the spirits energy into herself. (if that made sense xD)
Video Games
Video games, she loves challenging herself with them Though she doesn't get to them now a days, with her obsession of "the other side" she has been recently investigating houses, and reading up on the aliens that threaten Earth every day. She doesn't get to them in her free time, and when she does, boy you better just quit.
Outer Space
It captivates her, the way, that we don't, and may never, know everything about outer space. Athena wants to one day explore where nobody else has, and come back successful to share her discoveries, and let everyone meet the Alien she will bring back. She plans on asking that alien if she can call it "Plato" after the Greek philosopher.

Dislikes

Too much seriousness
It just creeps her out. She would much rather be screaming on the top of her lungs to a song on top of a table while throwing shreded bits of homework into the air.
Water
She hates the feeling of when you are underwater. She has read and watched too many documentaries on the Titanic to ever want to go on a boat again, and she knows no one who has a pool. She even flinches while walking into the shower.. because she hates it.
Cats
They remind her too much of the girls she knows. Hissing, and scratching, and never being able to handle happiness.
Drawing
She just can't do it. everything has to be symmetrical, and perfect, and it just takes to much time, and is frustrating since her paws are as awkward as chicken legs.

Story

-I will try to make it short.. but I may end up going overboard.. Fair warning xD-

I didn't know how i got into this situation. I was simply investigating. You may be wondering who this is, and what it is I am stuck in. And I will tell you, but first I have to hold still, they want to examine my long, soft neck fur. --- Ok. My name is Athena, and I am under foreign arrest. Before you go thinking I've been captured by like Libya or Mexico.. you are wrong. I am under UFO arrest. Yes, I know. Crazy right? Think of all the people who called me a freak. A loser. I am apperently a waste of space. Yes, i am a geek. Suprised? I'm not. Look at me. I look like a space ship. But no. They were wrong. There is other life, and they are indeed intellegent. They won't hurt me, and I won't hurt them. They are fastinated with what I do, I read about them and apperently they read about me.. well not me... my species, Jelly Bean Dragons.

-le dies- I will so get to work on this form ASAP! I have to do a few more things so I can completely focus on her!
