Lost Cause
||Name||
Adrika (Arunima) ((Adrika-Celestial, Arunima-Glow))
||Gender||
Female
Personality~
Timid~ Adrika likes to watch others and observe their behavior, wondering how the non-nocturnal live. She will often dart of approached, not wanting to be seen and located. Although the female will sometimes engage in socialization, the other doing most of the bold moves. Not a very trusting Rune.
Curiosity~ She will wander in the night and explore, her curiosity like a young one's. Adrika is a unique female and will sneak around, physicking others out as they spot glimpses of her as she darts around. When it comes to meeting others, she will be timid until she can trust them a bit more.
Independent and strong~ She is a tough Rune, and will not be judged without giving her mind. Occasionally she will approach others if provoked. Adrika is an Independent one, and does not mind being just herself in the world on her search for a good place to fit in.

Why do you wish to have him/her:
Is this a trick question?? This Rune is absolutely gorgeous! I have been keeping track of the Runes up for adoption and the unique design interested me. I love the hypnotic and intriguing glowing green eyes. I have always wanted a Rune and hope that this time I would get lucky. I ish I had more access to a computer to make my forms more intricate xD Good luck to everyone!
Where will you keep him/her:
I will display it in my signature. Not to mention make art of her and rp ^^
Would you like to breed him/her in the future:
Maybe...
Any Quirks:
Adrika will try and manufacture unique little trinkets from odds and ends she finds though the land.
Other:
( working on a drawing, offsite. I make them with pencil and paper, so it may take a bit for me to complete it ^^ )

Oh my god, she's so pretty!
(and I kind of reacted to the description by thinking "oh my, Sahariel and she would work quite well together").
Though, I don't know if I'll have time to try out for her. So I'll most likely wait and see if you make a male version and maybe try out for that one instead.

Owner Name:
Tyasi
Some Bearer Slight Info

Tyasi is a traveler and a ‘treasure hunter’. All that glitters isn’t gold, as she looks for natural treasures. Amazing sites that you can only see with your own eyes. She travels around quite often, but resides in several rented near abandoned houses. Where she makes friendly terms with the owners and stays in places and keeps unwanted houses or shacks still looking like it is able to have habitants. The money comes the odd jobs of her travels or any worthy artifact she may come across. She usually stays in places temporarily, but my stay a whole season if she really can’t press on. She goes on many excursions with a small organization that carries the same passion as, but she isn’t allowed to be with the larger and more adventurous troops for she lacks a rune or an assistant to aid her.

Name:
Bulb
A bulb is often tied in with light bulbs. As well as ingenuity and when the mind becomes a spewing fountain of radiant ideas. She is no different and can make her luminance expand over the region and enlighten the minds of all those shrouded with confusion. If only this bulb wouldn’t flicker when these unknown creatures, runes or people draw near.

Gender:
Female

Image
Personality:
Bulb is deathly shy and suffers some extensive paranoia to creatures larger than her. As being the size of a small owl it doesn’t take much to put her on edge. She doesn’t speak much or produce many sounds, but speaks through body language. Skittish as well and has more of take a flight than fight reaction, she is sensitive to sounds and others She isn’t friendly at all, because of her lack of social skills even though deep inside she contains the usual feelings. The emotions rarely bubble out of her, but you can see them being acted out in her mannerisms. She may begin to cuddle or come closer to the body seeking your company and warmth. She hates solitary causing conditions, she truly desires company, but will turn it down in fear of it hurting her. Even when the barrier is broken she will still continue give you the same treatment with more perks presenting her true self. This barrier’s cracking alone would mean they reside in the same home as she does. Not being used to the restrictive code of a flock she just does what she wants and thrives off her independence. This causes her to have a streak of bad habits of not listening when told, but that can be fixed with a silent waggle of a finger. She is also fairly lazy in most activities as she saves her energy for the oncoming dusk past and musters the last bit of the energy to make sure she is down and out when dawn arrives. Her attention span is fairly short as anything can alert her and catch her interest, but then lose it soon after. The only few exceptions to this is Firelight flies, plays or performances and reading. Bulb also has a selfish streak wrapped around her endearing personality. She never had to much contact so it inherently her main goal usually had something to do with her. People, time, trinkets etc. If it has value to her (which isn’t much) she will not easily let it go or share.

Silent

Her communication skills aren’t her best as she hasn’t had many to communicate with, not even within her own species. A loner and had never been to willing to make friends, even though yearning company. Most of her kind are found in flocks, packs or groups. Close together, but the supposed group she was a part of kept her so distant she was essentially a glowing shadow.)

Beyond shy and seems more like fear

Bulb when confronted executes the typical shield of her wings immediately to the point it is a reflex. If she senses a presence she immediately locks into this position until she deems it safe for herself. (The time zone for that always exceeds thirty minutes) If she is attacked or her position ignored, and when other creatures seem to close or has already committed physical contact she will try to run away, but doesn’t get to far and her legs lock in fear leaving her in terribly vulnerable positions. On the hand when she hears sounds of an approaching threat (no such thing as a possible threat, everyone is a threat) she will take flight or sprint into a spot where she may not be noticed.

Despises Change

Anything changed, from the position of the table being moved a foot away from its original spot could displease her. Not, because she resents the change, but it’s the fact that she must remember it. An enemy can be lurking in these newly created niches and crannies. Not only that, but change when not necessary seems frivolous and time consuming. She feels more content and safe when she recognizes that everything has been the same just like the days prior.

Intellectual

She contains a plethora of knowledge, but doesn’t find it to interesting once she learns of it. The unknown and mysteries draws her tight and her body producing tremors of excitement from a sole adventure. An adventure within the mind once they dive through the paper and swallowed into the sea of text that envelopes the reader into a new universe. An adventure that takes mind to higher heights escalating well beyond the average limit. The adventures that come from the comfort of the home and not the impressing dangers of the outside realm. Even though her life was spent outside she often went to hoard pages or small notebooks for her enjoyment if she had discovered them lying about. She would read them repeatedly and continued to expand her collection and would usually hole them up in a small abandoned cavity within a large tree.

A Yearn to Learn

A copycat, a mimic, a watcher and observer- She takes what she sees and uses them for her benefit. If she watches a man get mad for he hated the words that reminded him of a rival of his she would take this information and remember it until it becomes extremely vague and avoids committing the crime. Her ability, plus her knack for copying what she sees as well, intrigues her to no end. She wants to have fun like everyone else and will copy what she sees to be fun and hope it has the same effect on her. She wants to know what is enjoyable, what are the ones she knows pet peeves, what can that do? Without harming herself in the process as well as obtaining social knowledge. She eventually wants to leave the outcast life and give herself just a few more kindred spirits later on.

Unsure

Bulb often comes to a standstill in choices for she doesn’t know what to do. She is to indecisive when she has a choice and may take hours to reach a decision. Her confidence is the main factor of this as she lacks quite a lot of it and doesn’t want to feel heavily judged by this decision.

Observer

Those brilliant eyes aren’t just for entrancing, they for analyzing the world with sight. Large and wide that radiate a glow meant to aid in the capture of their nightly prowls. Firelight flies have no chance and probably from the flickering pale lights of Bulb. She watched carefully for many months until she could fully copy the pattern of a female firelight flies signal, making it easy in the summer to receive high quantities of her favorite meal. This does not just apply to her diet, but as well as creatures who may try to become friendly (if she doesn’t freeze up first). If she ever finds someone she is attracted to in a kinship like feeling she will slowly and warily over a long course of time try to introduce herself, but at the same time- her bridging the gap is more of her watching and understanding you as a person from what she can just analyze.

Why do you wish to have him/her:
Those green lustrous viewing orbs staring straight at me and locking on, the onyx composure of her stature, she swiftly caught my eyes in a gaze. Just like the eerie glinting slits of a predator in the perpetual ebony abyss of night. The colors were so well placed and the idea of this type of rune called to me. I’ve been lurking in the shadows for several months for runes that I love, but I either step down before I start as I can see the heart wrenching love of another exceed far beyond mine, but this is the rune that had used her sight to pierce through my dark quilt and see me and I saw her. I could see she was well beyond amazing to be my first rune. I only attempt for runes that reel me in and resonate with my desires and embedded a message into my mind. Just observing the entity just made the decision that was then engraved in my mind. A selfish thought, but it was simply “I want you to be mine and no one else’s.”

Where will you keep her:
Her true abode will be with me, no matter where I am. I would immediately create a rune thread, just as many others have done. Where she will hold the spotlight(Even to her dismay) until maybe a friendly assistant may step in later. Maybe, someone she can warm up to other than me. She will also be given art of her so Bulb may sit in my signature.

Would you like to breed him/her in the future:
If she finds love and wishes to create a family, I cannot stop her. Though, I’m probably going to be very picky with her and want a real developed relationship to sprout. No, participating in events for breeding unless the mate is chosen and it’s for breeding slots. I’m going to be that father who will rarely give his approval, if I have to. I would really love to have an rp where our runes or just the two act and deal with each other and over time develop a relationship and hopefully it will be forever. I do not mind several rps for her hand, but I don’t want to narrowly pick one. I will only accept if they seem compatible or the can become compatible in the future.

Any Quirks:

~* Bulb will sometimes perform common cat activities such as occasionally awaken from slumber only to move to another spot. More likely to be tight in space and dreary compared to her previous one and more suited for her nocturnal tastes.)

~* If we ever are separated from each other and if she’s within distance I can flash my flashlight or wave my lantern in certain sequences and will know where to go, because we often create flash sequences to communicate between eachother.

~* She copies hand movements and gestures and eventually is able to move without producing a sound to communicate with me. If I do an unfamiliar action she will stare at me with her luscious moss green eyes and wait until I should repeat the action and explain to her its definition.

~* As I cannot stay up with her for the whole night, I will read a book softly out-loud to her and I to aid my departure into slumber, but every time I awake I discover her nuzzled under the covers with her head laying on a page far beyond than I had left off.

~* A little star, but is so distant in space that it could never show what it could to do too many. When watching theatrical events, sometimes later at home she will repeat them and put on miniature performance. Her audience is only one, though.

~* Her favorite food is indeed the firelight flies, but she does prefer to torture her food, by playing with it until barely alive and then consuming. This behavior comes from the lack of playmates and result in her (could be seen as gruesome) behavior.

~* Hoards scraps of paper she finds any excursion of ours outside of our abode. She gently places them within an old cupboard that I always leave ajar. Sometimes she might tear a page out of a book for it becomes a favorite single paper of diction.

~* Even when its daylight and Bulb is sleeping, if she hears the rustling of myself trying to depart for supplies without her knowing she will wake her groggy self up in effort to come along, even though it’s the worst time for that action. We came to a solution of putting her in a blanket covered bottom of a Satchel that could hold her comfortably, slightly parted with a small opening to let in light or to become a peeking hole if she so desires.

Other: Ellipses separating paragraphs means that there are parts cut out to make the story more concise. The beginning story is heavily summarized, for it not being the optimal size as an other entry.

Its just the beginning

Winter is finally rearing its frigid head, brisk gales run through and make the unprepared shudder and yet its only the start. Soon the nearby meadows will sprout in an array of bioluminescent hues and all fly up into the sky. From what I have read in the book “Lights to the Heavens,” I would come across an annual blessing. Even the book refers to it as so.

Page 147       Chapter 7: Introduction to Reproduction

Breeding Season of Firelight Flies is in the summer where hundreds of thousands come to one spot to find mates and lay eggs repeatedly, this ritual of constant breeding and producing can last up to the maximum of one month. This ritual starts when the soil and atmosphere reaches a certain moisture level which is currently unknown to us. Female Firelight Flies can lay up to 200 to 2,000 eggs depending on genetics, size and fertility rating. This time of the year is also extremely perilous for their flamboyant displays to achieve propagation as many of their natural predators use this as a chance to claim full stomachs. At the end of the breeding season, most females and a good sum of males die from reproduction. When Firelight Flies pass away their corpses heat to amazingly high temperatures and burst into flames for a brief few minutes before dissipating into ash as nutrients for the ground. So the flowers and grasses can gain more minerals and vitamins for their Fireglow larvae that nibble upon the vegetation as a main staple. Many times their bodies will combust and light nearby objects on fire, but usually the dampen environment keeps that in check. After the breeding season very few Firelight Flies remain and flit away from the spawning spot only to come back next summer.

After or on the day of the Autumn Equinox the eggs hatch and become Fireglow Larvae, (also known as Glitter worms who are known for the flecks of faintly flickering hues that explain their genders and species. The two species are Monochromaflyea and Heterachroflyea. Simple known as 1 color and different colors, as the names suggest the Monochromaflyea are forever one color and shade, while the Heterachroflyea is constantly changing colors. If they are cool or somber colors the Fireglow Larvae is female, but if it’s bright, hot/warm colored colors than its male.) The Fireglow Larvae will consume and eat for roughly two weeks after hatching and proceed to consume until ready to undergo metamorphosis. Burrowing into the ground they create nymph forms before turning into their pupa state to change their form into an adult. On the day of the winter solstice to a week before the Firelight flies dig through the blanket of snow causing the transparent crystal to reflect their gleams making it to appear that there is a terra aurora spanning over these hilly meadows. Then they all finally break lose of their icy tunnels and rise into the sky in huge series of lights, flickering and flashing about their arrival into the world. Following the summer dance this is another time that their predators also enjoy, but as new young adults the Firelight Flies have not determined their threats. So 40% approximately are eaten before they depart their birthplace. The region Verdant Valley has the most accounted for population of Firelight Flies, approximately 2 million bred there last year and this year should far top its record.

It’s an interesting situation that drew my attention and I planned to take it with full force. Thankfully, I had a friend in Verdant Valley that couldn’t stand its temperatures during the winter and would go to the tepid winters of somewhere her cousin stayed. The humid air that sinks to bottom of the valley has become still and feels like tiny frozen needles that pierce your skin. After a few hours I came up to the cabin near the conifer trees that surrounded its back. Fumbling with the sharp icy metal from the keys I managed to open its heavy mahogany frame. Stepping in the dark house, I brought out my flashlight and began to guide myself through the house. My eyes narrowed seeking for a fireplace or a large source of light. After nearing a rose pink embroidered couch I saw the tips of logs in the corner of my eye. Making my way over I spotted the thin table that was backed against the fireplace, it held a wrapped triplet of logs and some matches. Lighting the fire place I knelt down enjoying the radiant warmth that caressed my body. The cabin was small, not anything large enough to be for a family. At max it could contain a couple perfectly and accommodate their needs. Finally situating myself and my temporary abode I wander back outside to drag in the little luggage I brought with me. Placing all of my supplies on the ornate rug at the foot of the couch I double checked my inventory, my satchel that contained medical supplies and smaller objects that would aid in my search of Firelight Flies, my swelling hiking backpack filled with changes of clothes and immediate supplies and non-perishable food.

Still feeling weary from the trip I went to lay myself on the sofa, for I couldn’t bear trespassing on the sanctuary of another’s bed. Laying there I rested my cranium to its plushy arm and laid to rest. My eyes fluttering about, but having no desire to stay closed after trying for what seemed to be centuries I rose and dug into my satchel. After finding the secret treasure buried within items, I pulled out an emerald green book with gold leaf etched sides and decorative script planted on its face. “Verdant Valley” was the header and I gave a soft smile. This book would be a great read to help reassure my bearings and where the spectacle I was seeking will occur. Unfortunately, the warmth of the fireplace would lead me only to slumber-land if I read by the fire. I closed my eyes to secure a decision and to my dismay I somehow conjured the irrational idea of reading out on the porch in the winter. To even more of my insane thought process I actually had proceeded to do so, opening the door once more I took a spot against the wall leaning under the window. The soft light became hazy through the frosted glass, but it was enough so I didn’t have to struggle to read.

Page after page my fingers were not willing to respond to my cerebral commands, but I still pressed forward even though my eyes couldn’t. I blinked often so they would freeze in place, my cheeks seemed flushed trying to keep my blood flowing while my skin had been softened from the punctures of the miniscule ice shards that became an adamant barrage if a gale came by. Finding little enjoyment as time pressed on I came to a simple conclusion. “Inside, no questions, now,” returning back into the warmth I dragged my frozen body to move toward the fireplace, I slammed the door shut and curled into a ball to regain the height I had lost. After that I have no memory else until that back aching morning.

The fire had died and only smoldering ash remained, the organic light reflected through the ice crystals making the exterior world seem blinding. Forcing my body I went to find suitable locations for my hunt, but then remembered that the book had mentioned some spots that would be ideal places to check. Peeking to the spot under the window where I had believed I last leave me book, I found it missing from where my vague memory had left it. “An ominatio?” I muttered to myself, wondering if I had made a mistake, I don’t usually lose things and when I do it is in safer places than I thought.

Time trickles down the hour glass, a grain at time. My eyes blinked slowly with little interest as for what I had gathered for the eventful night, my purpose of coming was to be withheld early to my surprise. I had been sitting in the ton library for at least an hour, feeling disappointed and pressed by incoming spiked walls. What the townsfolks of this lowest elevated spot of the gargantuan valley had told me was apparent. I had to move quickly for the time was against me, but yet I had been staring at an hourglass with little to no motivation. An idea spurred into my mind, I did successfully locate the vicinity of where they rise, so why not every night I head to the possible fields and check for signs of the predators of these creatures. They knew when they torrent of Firelight flies would cascade in the opposite direction into the pool of the night intertwining with the stars. Uprooting my tapped legs from the spot I commenced to start a brand new gleaming plan.

Eyeing a pair of male Firelight Flies who were too distracted in their territorial battle of the leaf, I found it my chance to have some bait or observing specimens. Creeping behind them with a jar in hand I came closer to the dueling duo. Holding my breath to not alert them, I swiftly forced the jar downwards, trapping both the males in a single thrust. Beaming with glee, I didn’t recognize the weak pale blue flashes of a small female who hung under the battlefield of a leaf. The two larger males emitted their glow in a brighter light, angered by my decision. The pink male was nearing a more red shade and the gold one had seemed more yellow. After a while of being tall and proud my flashlight flickered. My grin slowly fell to the bottom of my face with a thud. The flashlight repeated its actions and I was near out of batteries. This was unfortunate as this high powered light producing electrical torch was also a energy vampire, sucking and slurping the life out of batteries within hours.

I slowly waddled in the direction I came from heading toward the house. For the past couple of days I had failed to even notice signs of the upperclassman of the food chain and I was becoming disappointed. Trudging the thick snow my sight had switched its focus to a tree, where I believed a soft light had emitted from. With no signs of a stirring, I continued. The flashlight went out and gave its dying static filled whine before its final blink and dimmed into nothing. I was surrounded by darkness, feeling uneasy as my stomach churned in fear. Once again a soft glow flashed; in the darkness it lit up enough to reassure me temporarily. Only for that reassurance to be replaced with the flooding of immense tower toppling fear. I pondered with the idea of this light being similar to the reel of an angler fish and may have myself wandering into my death following a death wishing light.

The light flickered in familiar sequences and kept its distance, but in defeat I just knelt on the ground hoping for it to pass. I sighed and held the jar up to look at my bounty. A sudden rush of air sliced my focus, like the point of formed steel. It came by again in trying to throw me off, but I stayed in place. After a while the assault stopped and I noticed the somber luminance of figure on the branches of a tree. Eying me with alert eyes the creature backed away from my own trail of sight. Confused I stared at the visage of the creature, it seemed intrigued at me, but it seemed more frightened. Raising my hands away from my body in a motion to show I meant no harm(but as I look back it probably was more threatening). The creature became intent on retrieving the contents of the jar that raised with my hands. Noticing it’s interest I shook the jar, her head following its sudden movement.

An idea sparked in my mind, since the Firelight Flies were out of season I could benefit. Lightly opening the jar the bright pink male took his chance for his escape only to be whisked away the jaws of his superior. Putting more attention to the figure, I realized it was a rune dragon. Racking my brain through my past readings and faintly remembered a few lines mentioning the Nocturne rune that fed off of Firelight Flies. I gave a weak smile and whispered, “If you want the rest of these, you have to do me a teensy favor, you adorable little dragon.”

After a series of visits the rune would come to the home and watch me through the window, but would shy away if I noticed her watching. On a warmer night I slipped out at dusk and sat on the porch of where the clearing was that expanded from the front of the cabin. With the fictional book, “Journey Yonder” out of the corner of my eye the same female nocturne perched on the wooden boards. Out loud I read the book in a hush voice, the little Nocturne inching closer and closer and flashing the same pattern as for what I later realized was my dying flashlight. After getting several chapters into the book, my dream had came true.

The Firelight Flies had been in the clearing in front of me this whole time. It was beyond more than what the book had described and if they did it the way I see it, I would have found it farfetched. I could be amazed and swelling with joys as my frigid tears strolled down my face. Confused by this substance the rune licked a tear and shook her head at the salinity before taking off and gaining a meal she would never forget. Looking longily at the dragon, I saw her radiating a brighter light, being for more gorgeous than the sight I was witnessing before. “You are just like my little flashlight. You brought me home and guided me through the dark. Except you aren’t a bulb that will never run out…Isn’t that right…Bulb?”

If I wasn’t for that fact she came to be my companion later on that winter, I would have believed I imagined her turning her head in response with a merry face.
End

[size=150]White christmas

The snow decided to inch away into the earth and allowed the sun to pummel it into tears. It hadn’t snowed in days and what mush was left seemed to be a laughing stock to the people. It felt oncoming spring and it had only been a mere week after Tyasi had gained her partner. Glancing down at the curled bundle under her covers she began to slowly slip off the sofa. Walking into the kitchen she did her limbering stretches and exercises. Getting ready she had change and decided to dress in a clouds worth of weight for clothes. Being careful not to make any sounds that sounded like a Tyasi slipped out into the hazy dawn.

A few hours later Bulb awakened to a void in the house. Rolling off the sofa lazily she landed on the pile of loosened blanket. Hopping off with a wobbly pep in her step she groggily looked around. Not hearing any footfalls of her giant or the sounds of her voice in some way or another, not even her humming. Just the hums of silence buzzed in her sound receptors. The terrible feeling of abandonment seemed to have drilled itself into her mind. Overwrought with confusion and sudden misery on where her only friend was. She began to blink quickly creating her usually danger sequence. Flash Flash Flash, pause, Flash, Flash, Flash, pause. Then silence followed after. “This is the only time she has left without a message, what did I do wrong?” she thought to herself. Confusion and sadness emerged as she tried t come up with theories on why Tyasi had left and seeing if maybe she’ll come back. “Maybe she went hunting! Humans…hunt right?” she mused. After a while from the optimistic ideas the pessimism settled in like the nearing defeat in war. She reacted by shielding her body with her wings as if some imaginary predator was there, but instead the real threats were her cruel thoughts nipping and snarling at her.

Staying in her spot trying to ward away the group of doubt, she tightened her body waiting for it to pass. After the torment she unfroze and stretched her wings to regain her feeling. Thinking about some possibilities of where her companion went off to, Bulb walked across to her cupboard. Slipping inside she kicked out some papers. Some that were dropped by people on a to do list. One of them read off to be a to do list with “Go Hunting in forest” circled and underlined. Eyes filling with reassurance she made a happy hop and bounded out of the cupboard. Her goal was to look for her friend in the woods and aid her in her hunt. By the time she made it to the door she stumbled on her own feet, tired and full of little energy to press on. Ignoring her drowsiness she nudged the door trying to open it. Frowning she shoved the door with her weight. Only to see it not budge, it was locked. A thought flipping feat. Bulb refused to give up and checked every window or crevice in the house and was left with nothing ajar or shut. The last orifice open in this house had to be through its long nasal tunnel that pointed toward the sky. Hopping over to the warm remnants of the chimney she thought this over. Maybe there was a reason to all the locked doors and she should stay behind. It had only been an hour at least from her initial panic attack and maybe that was the problem. She was being rash and hasty in her decision. Bulb mulled the idea of patience and decided to follow the notion. Returning near the sofa she laid her head down in rest on the pile of blanket and returned to sleep.

Hearing the sounds of the unlocking Bulb awaked. Staggering from the weight of sleep she darted over to the door. Her emerald eyes twinkling with excitement and anticipation as Tyasi came into the house with several bags in hand. Walking into the kitchen she placed her bags on the counter which contained food and some fruit. One bag was full of the unknown. Bulb flew onto the counter and peeked inside, to her surprise it was full of colorful boxes and shapes. Glancing over Tyasi smiled. “Those are for you, you know. You can open them now.” Bulb just stared at the bag with a confused face and looked back at her owner with worry. Blink, pause, light up and hold for a while, blink, flash, pause. Tyasi looked at her for a while trying to remember what that had meant and realized it was “Where were you?” Scooping Bulb off the table she held her in her hands. “I went shopping for food, I’m sorry if I didn’t tell you. I didn’t want to disturb you as we were running low on food. Next time I got out, I will take you with me, but will think on a way to do that later.” she consoled. With a confused blink of Bulb’s eyes, Tyasi realized she had to explain to her what shopping was. “Shopping is like hunting, but with none of your prey running away from you.” she concluded with an easy to follow explanation. Bulb nodded with understanding and flew to the floor.

Picking up the bag of surprises, Tyasi went to sit on the carpet near the dead fire. Strolling out five gifts on the floor she began to open them. An hourglass that was made of glowing flecks of sand, a petite pen and journal that wrote in glow in the dark ink, a personal mini-quilt that had the patterns of runes and snow with Firelight Flies darting across it, a jar full of Firelight Flies and a book read as “100 Fables”. Bulb’s eyes lit up and radiantly shined at the jar of Firelight Flies and then at her other items and starting to test them out.

Tyasi headed over to toss logs into the pit and lighted a fire. Glancing over her shoulder with a smile on her face she whispered a “Merry Christmas” and continued to start the fire. Later that night it had begun to snow again as the house had several Fireligt Flies darting around trying to avoid an exuberant Bulb.

THE RUNE OF THE NORTHERN NIGHT...

Image

Image

Owner Name:
Snowyowl379
Image
Name:
Nordlys, although mainly called Lys
The name is Norwegian, which I think fits her perfectly. She looks norse and arctic, which is why I chose this origin. The name itself translates into "Northern Lights", and her nickname translates into "Light"
Oh, well don't go babbling on about my name! Although it does have meaning, a name is a name, and we must keep moving through the form!
Image
Gender:
Female
Yes I am of the feminine gender, if that wasn't obvious enough.
Image
Personality:
She is...
Shy
Lys is a quiet and shy Rune. She will mainly remain in the corner of the room during a party, and not speak to anyone. But she seems to gravitate to only a few people/runes, so if you're lucky, you get to see her wild side.
Well, I wouldn't classify myself as shy...more like antisocial. I don't like other Runes, they're dirty and loud, and I can never get them to stop asking about my lights! So curious, don't they know about bioluminecencs?

Genius
Lys is incredibly smart! She knows random factoids front to back, and has read almost every book in the Runeic language! I am very proud of her smarts, and her ability to render almost anyone speechless with facts! She especially loves astronomy, I can't get her to stop looking at the sky, day or night! She truly brings the phrase "She blinded me with science!" to life.
Well...I wouldn't say that I'm that smart. But you do bring up the point about astronomy. Speaking of which...did you know that if it was only a little bigger, the planet Jupiter would be a star? And...

Graceful
Lys has a certain grace to what she does. She is an eloquent speaker, never stumbles in flight, and is hardly rude to anyone. She never gets into a fight, and has very good manners.
Why thank you! I always try to be polite, even when I'm not so nice.

Folksy
Lys likes old fashioned things. She is not impressed with modern-day technology, and much prefers using magic. She likes old Norse folk songs, and digging deeper into her northern roots. But of course, she does this by book and not with a computer.
That is true, I don't like computers. For some reason, they always break when I use them. Maybe it's because I always bring a glass of Firelight Bug juice and then spill it, but I guess we'll never know...

Possessive
Lys doesn't like to share. All of her items stay nice and clean, with no other Rune's talon prints on them. She also likes to steal objects from her siblings. But is she even thinks about touching Mizu's special key, she'll get in a whole lot of trouble.
Hey, I only took his key once! I've still got a scar from him under my left flank, ouch!

Show-off
Lys likes to show off her spectacular colors in dances. She parades around at night when all of the lights are off, turns on some dubstep music, and dances around like a maniac. Lys is anything but humble.
*Lys is not here right now because she is off dancing.*

One with Nature
Lys loves to be outside. On the cold, winter nights here in Autumn City, she sits outside in her favorite Willow tree with a leather-bound journal, and plots the stars in the night sky. She will talk to the owls, including her best friend Barnard, who is my pet Snow owl. She and him sit outside for hours on end in the blistering cold, and have heated debates about stars and the universe. Shh...don't tell her but I'm going to get her a telescope for Christmas!
I heard that! SQUEE!! I've always wanted a telescope! But back on the subject, yes Barnard and I hang out in my Willow tree. It's really fun, you should join us sometime!

Protective
Lys is protective of what and who she loves. She will defend these things/people/runes with a strange bow mate out of stellar dust. But watch out. Hurt something she loves, she'll have your head within minuets.
I've too much of what I love. I won't let anymore go.

Loves the young
Lys loves baby Runes! She would love to have a family someday, but not until she finds the right mate. But until then, she takes care of orphaned babies and babies at the Daycare.
I love babies!!!!! Their chubby cheeks, the way they waddle around, and oh, their smell!!!

Image
Why do you wish to have him/her:
Well, a little while ago, I had an idea for a northern lights rune. I was determined to make it an actual Rune, so I did everything in my power to make it happen. I used every one of my eyelash wishes on it, wished for it on my birthday, and twisted every fortune cookie fortune into something that would benefit this Rune. I truly believe that this was the answer to my wishes, and now I have to try for her.
Image
Where will you keep him/her:
Oh well... EVERYWHERE!! In my siggy, in art, in doodles at school, in my character threat, on random stuff I can personalize, and of course, in my heart. If she comes home with me, she will get lots of toys, a glow-in-the-dark playroom, her very own fluffy bed, and an unlimited supply of firelight flies. If she comes home with me, I think she'll be very happy.
FIRELIGHT BUGS?!?!?!?! AFSDKJUGDFSDFDDGH *gasps* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image
Would you like to breed him/her in the future:
I believe so. Only if I found her the right mate would I let her breed.
Ah, yes. True love currently eludes me, but I'm sure I'll find him someday...

Image
Comments from siblings
Lys is fine is you take her in small doses. I've never been able to understand activity, so I got tuckered out after about the first five minuets of playing with Lys. Although, she does make a nice nightlight!

Lys has the beginnings of a great Pagan. She loves to read, is very smart, and is one with the earth and sky. If she really put her mind to it, we could be the best witches in all of Eldamore. Out of all the little mutts in our flock, she is the one I like best.

Ah yes, Lys. She was very kind to me, since no one around here is. She helped me clean my keys, and she gave me a peculiar tube that she called a 'glow stick'. I really like her, and would be content if she came home with us.

in order: Daydream, Celeste, Mizu.
Image
Comments about siblings
Daydream is... well, I didn't really get to spend much time with her. She decided to take a nap during most of our meet and greet. All I can say is that is she is my future sister, It'll be pretty easy to steal her food XD!

Celeste is...odd. She is all obsessed with me becoming a paganist. I abandoned that road years ago. She would be a rival alpha female, and I must become dominant. Although, I woulden't mess with her. She can sick a pack of h**l hounds on you in seconds flat!

Mizu is probably the best in this pack. He's kind, generous, fun, active, and he lets me touch his keys! But only if I wash them afterwards.

Like all Runes, Lys has some fears. Here are the ones I've discovered:
1. Wisps
2.heat
3.Acorns
4.Ice Caves
5.The color Red
Image
Any Quirks:
Lys has a thing for styrafoam peanuts. She loves to squish them and put them in water, and make
sculptures out of them. Whenever we get a package, she openes it up and plucks out the peanuts and plays with them. She also is horribly addicted to Goldfish crackers. I can't hide them anywhere without her getting into them! She also absolutely loves mustard squeeze bottles. Maybe it's the smell, but she just loves them.
PEANUTS? GOLDFISH CRACKERS? MUSTARD BOTTLES!?! THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!

A bit on the Firelight Bug
Image
The Northern Firelight Bug (Ascillis Nordlys) Is perfectly adapt for living in the freezing cold. It has tough, brittle wings so that they won't freeze. Ot is covered in a thick, wooly fur-like substance so that it won't freeze. It also has a bioluminecent tail that generates heat. Furry eyebrows and antenna keep snow from getting in its face, and a powerful stinger lets it become and insect predator. As you can see, It resembles a Luna moth in its wings. The only drawing we have of this elusive insect is the old sketch made by a mysterious explorer named Hamish. The only thing on earth that can dygest this insect is the Nocturne Rune. The ary approximately 6" long, and 2" tall.

It all started out with a piece of paper.

"99, 100! Ready or not, here I come!" I ran out from behind the pine, and fell head first into a snowdrift. I giggled, and brushed the bleach-white snow off my shoulder. Cassiopeia was no where in sight, although then again, wasn't that the point of hide-and seek? Cassiopeia was my sister, but I absolutely hated her. I didn't care if I coulden't find her, I'd just leave her here "Cassiopeia... come out come out wherever you are..." Suddenly, I saw a hind of glimmering green coming from atop a tall birch tree. I fluttered up onto the branch, and paced around playfully. "Hmm...I wonder where she could be...HA!" But when I turned around, all I could see was a piece of burnt paper. I turned it over, and saw glimmering greens, pinks, purples and oranges swirling around five gigantic crystals. Right above them was an amazing arrangement of stars complimented by an enormous cookie-like moon. The parchment interested me, so I rolled it up, and tucked it away in my abundance of fluff. I'd find Cassiopeia later, first i had to show this to my father. He'd know what it's about.
"Hmm...Very curious paint script...very curious. Due to the shimmering paints, the fact that the paper is made out of crushed heather leaves, and the fact that it's burnt...I'd have to say that it comes from the Phillic Tundra district. Maybe after school tomorrow you can head down there."
"But dad, don't I have to go with you or mom?"
"Don't worry, I give you permission t go by yourself."
"Oh do you Orion?" My mother walked into our hollow, a quizzical look on her face. "And where exactly will Lys be going after school?"
"Just to the library mom." I was always good at lying. When I fell asleep that night, all I could think about was the piece of paper, and the Phillic Tundra.
The Tundra Market was much like an Arabian Bazaar, full of motion and life. Lots of shady figures hung around corners, ready to grab any gold a Rune had that was loose. As I was proceeding to the Antique booth, a strange figure approached me. "Little young to be walking around the market alone, aren't ya?" Out from the shadows slinked a dirty Snowy Owl. His feathers were covere in grime and dust, he had a strong aroma of blue cheese, and he had a black satin eyepatch covering up his right eye. "So, what's a young soul doing walking around this place?"
"I...I just wanted the Runes at the antique booth to take a look at this." I pulled out the paper reluctantly, and unraveled it carefully. The owl snatched it from my hands, and started examining it.
"Well, no one there in their right mind would no anything about this. But I know everything about it. I know what the paints are made of, what pland the papaer was presses from, even where this is in real life."
"Really? How?"
"Because I was the one that drew it. Now, what do you want to do with this paper?"
"Well, I just wanted to know what the drawing's about, but now I want to know where this is!"
"Well, I'll show ya', but It'll cost ya."
"How much?"
"50 bucks." I pulled out 50 dollars from my fluff. "Perfect. Now, there's one person I want you to meet before we embark on our journey... oh and by the way, my name's Hamish."
Rook was a wisp. She fluttered around Hamish's scrape, fussing with a patch of heather. "Oh, why hello!" she said in her sickly-sweet voice. "I'm Rook, and you are..."
"She Lys, dearie. She's come 'cause she's found the paper. She wants me to take her to it."
"Oh, ok. In that case, we're going to need some supplies."
"We?" I asked irratibly.
"Yes 'we'. I'm the only one that still remembers the way. After all, I am a wisp." So with that remark, Rook gathered up supplies, and our band of explorers set off into the great unknown.
The vast wasteland streched far infront of us, leading to a place unknown. They could see the ominous clouds of a snowstorm advancing slowly, spreading thick, icy snow over the tundra. "Well, we better find shelter before that storm hits us." Hamish said matter of factily. Rook lead us over to a cave made entirely out of ice.
We climbed in, and found a magnificent display of geod-like ice. "Is this where the drawing is?" I asked.
"No, this is just a shelter for the blizzard." Rook said. Hamish flew up to a geod, and went to sleep.
"How can you be tired?!? It's only midnight!" I screamed.
"Midnight? Well, I'm going out to the storm for an indefinite period of time. Hamish, you must come too. Bye." And with that, Rook and Hamish left the cave. Moments later, rattling and shaking filled the cave. I thought nothing of it, but moments later, all of the geods and crystals fell to the ground, trapping me inside. I shrieked, and I could hear Hamish asking if I was Ok. I told him I was fine, but I had to find a way out. But suddenly, through the crystals, I could see little flecks of wispy blue and white coming from behind me. I asked Hamish if Rook was still with him. He said she went to the bathroom, and that's when the panic set in. Something told me that Rook was out to get me. I didn't know why but there was one thing for certain; If I didn't get out of here soon, I'd be toast. I wiggled and squirrmed my way through the crystals, stabbing myself a few times. I saw the dark, snowy cold exit of the cave, and was never happier to see such bad weather. Hamish greeted me with a warming hug, but Rook just stood/floated in silence. "Are you alright?!? We thought you'd be dead by now! Well, Rook did. Hamish LeRann never loses hope!" Hmm... Rook thought I was dead. Just another clue to my murder pile. "Anyway, we'd better get going, even in this snow. Rook, where to?" But Rook was no where in sight. I turned around, and saw her heading toward a sea of ice. I didn't want to follow, but Hamish was already flying away. I lifted my bleeding feet, and flew away.
"It's beautiful!" I said. We were standing in front of a beautiful crystal display with thousands of light beams swirling around it. The lights were thousands of colors, some of which I didn't know the name of. And right above the point of the tallest crystal, was the moon and the north star. "Yes, but it's also deadly." Rook said. When she finished speaking, she ripped a azure crystal off of it's tree, and stalked toward Hamish. When she was close enough, she reared up and jabbed the crystal into Hamish's chest. "Hamish!" I screamed, but I had no other time to say anything else. Rook was advancing teoard me, the bloody crystal in her hand. As she reared up, I tried to speak. "Why? Why are you trying to kill me? What did I do?!?"
"What did you do? What did you do!?! It's not what you did, it's what your people did. Years ago, this used to be thousands of crystals, housing thousands of wisps, just like me. It was a happy place, hardly anything bad happened. Untill they came. An army of Male Nocturne Runes stormed our village, taking crystals and killing innocent wisps. I managed to escape, but I left my family to die! I had a husband, I had children! But they perished at your vanity. And the Females did nothing to help, they just gawed at their big brawny destroyers. And you think that the glow in your wings is from firelight bugs? No. It's from the crystal shards that your mother feeds you when your born. And now, I'm going to take it back." Rook reared up once again, and stabbed me square in the heart. Pain surged through my body, and the coldness of the crystal filled my veins. The glow on my wings surged in many colors, then went black. So did my vision, and my mind. Soon enough, I was staring into nothingness, but even that sence went away. Death is cruel, but he must come. Soon, I felt nothing. Absolutely nothing.
"Where am I?" I whispered in a hoarse voice. Stars and lights were surrounding me, and huge Nocturne Runes looking down on me.
"Why, you are in Celeaste, the afterlife of the Nocturne Runes. I am Polaris, and these are my friends, Cygnus, Ursa, and Dracos."
"You shoulden't be here, sweetie," Cygnus spoke. "It's not your time. We are the gatekeepers to Celeaste, so we know who's supposed to be coming."
"We can send you back, but only if you do us a favor." Ursa said.
"Well, what is it?" I whispered. The gatekeepers huddled up, and started to talk.
"Kill Rook. She has been taking too many Nocturne lives. That crystal wasn't even there three months ago. If you kill her, all of those lives will be returned, and the wrongful crystal will dissapear. We made you this bow. You only have one arrow, so shoot it at the right time." A bow appeared in Draco's talon. It was made of stardust, with a tail of light attatched to it. I took it, and pain surged through my talons."Goodbye Lys. May the gods be in your favor." And with that last note from Dracos, I awoke in a puddle of my own blood, bow clenched tightly in one foot.
"You again?" Rook said. "Well, I can take care of you." Rook raised her crystal, while I raised my bow.
"Not before I take care of you. Goodbye Rook. Say hi to Cygnus for me." An arrow formed in the bow's string. I pulled it back, and realesed it with a thwang! Rook gasped, right as the arrow hit her in the chest. She screamed, while her liquidy blue exterior shed off. What revealed itself, was a screaming banchee letting out its last wail. In a few seconds, she fell to the ground in a pile of ashes. The giant crystal shattered, sending bits of it flying in different directions. I knew that Hamish would not awaken, what a shame. I put the arrow I shot into Rook over his chest, and tucked his wings in. Just as soon as I set the arrow down, a dozen more appeared in a quill-point quiver. I slung it over my shoulder, grabbed my bow, and flew into the night sky. As I was flying home, I was sure I could see the north star wink, folloewd by Cygnus, Ursa major, and Dracos. I did good, I thought to myself. I did good.

Poetry
The moon is high and the sky is dark,
I flee fast in the streets.
And when the stars come out tonight,
I'll be where they all meet.
Singing songs and carols,
We almost sound forelorn.
For when I leave,
I start to grieve,
And wish I was never born.

One little Nocturne,
Sitting at the gate.
The first star said "Boy you're looking great!"
The second one said "Oh my, it's getting dark!"
The third one said "You better get home."
So the little Nocturne went and was left alone.

Name:
Schizophrenia, Schi or Nia for short.
ImageImageImage
Gender:
Female
ImageImageImage
Personality:
Curious
Nia loves to discover things; Be it why the wind blows cooler
on a particular day or what it looks like upside-down, it will
be hard to keep her away from 'secrets'.

Shy
No doubt Schizophrenia is insecure and prefers to keep focus
off of herself. She is terrified of being judged by
others, of being thought "less than enough".
The best way to get to know her is to be
gentle and not pressure her, else wise
she may feel embarrassed enough to
clam up completely.

Intelligent
Schi knows more than she lets on,
her favorite companions being a room full of books
and a small mug of rose tea.
Don't assume, however, that she is limited to education;
She is quick to figure things out, whether it be an
anagram, a flavor, or what is out of place in an area.
Unfortunately, this talent can also pique her fear,
although something of comfort will usually ease her.

Gentle
Nia is encouraging and compassionate, kind and sweet.
Everything she does matches to how she would wish to
be treated, even if the connection is subconscious.

ImageImageImage
Any Quirks:
Schizophrenia is terrified of anyone taking
a second glance at her, of singling her out, therefore
any quirks are hidden to the
utmost best of her ability.

Image

Image
ImageImageImage
Owner Name:
Sphie
ImageImageImage
Rune Bearer:
Silver Vivizae
ImageImageImage
Why do you wish to have her:
She is so cat-like, so delicate and graceful, and
so fluffy, all things of which I love rolled into one dragon!
I literally squealed when I saw her, and reading her
base story made me love her even more. I can't
wait to be able to do art of her, and I would
really pamper her if I win. She seems so aware,
intelligent, and elusive. There is so much I
could say, half of which I can't put into words
accurately enough. She is one of my
favorite rune dragons I've seen yet.

ImageImageImage
Where will you keep her:
Signature, Character Thread, Art, Roleplays,
everywhere! I would keep her active, for sure.

ImageImageImage
Would you like to breed her in the future:
Oh yes, she looks like she would be a wonderful mother eventually.
ImageImageImage
Interaction:
Schizophrenia doesn't really care for the company of most runes,
being more introverted, but will make a few friends
from time to time.
Schizophrenia and Canvas are sort of "Frenemies";
They don't really get along, but at the same time would be
lonely without the company of the other.
Schi usually pretends to ignore Canvas, one of a small list
of things Canvas can't stand, and Canvas in turn
ignores her back.
Despite this, there is nothing more adorable than the two
of them curled up to sleep in my backpack while I travel.

Story:
The moon was full, the stars were bright,
and it was generally a pleasant night. I was traveling with
my rune, Canvas, whom was nestled in her favorite place,
my backpack, while I walked. Although it was indeed very
nice, we had not seen a town, or even a village, for more
than a week, and our food stores where starting to run low.
Normally I wouldn't travel at night, the darkness making
journeying more dangerous, but the light of the moon was
plenty tonight. Canvas snored happily, somehow having
flipped upside-down in my pack, and I smiled for her.
She was not at all worried about the chance that we
were lost, a thought that I tried to stifle but would
interrupt more important thoughts anyway.
Looking up from the ground, I saw a congregation
of lights. Yes! A town! I thought, but as I neared
the lights shifted, moved away... and then flew. I realized
that they were not, in fact, civilization, but a flock of
luminescent creatures. As I drew nearer it became obvious
that they were rune dragons, albeit none that I could name.
I sighed slightly, disappointment that I had not yet reached
a point of rest and supplies coming even with excitement
for finding a flock of wild runes. I approached the group
more carefully, so as not to scare them into flight,
curiosity slowly building. Unfortunately I was not
paying attention to the ground at all, for I tripped on
a branch, waking Canvas and startling the glowing dragons
away. I sat up, grumbling as I brushed dirt off of my clothes,
while Canvas gave me an angry, tired glare, clearly stating
her disapproval at being awakened so rudely.
I got to my feet, and then saw a single light remaining.
Walking to it more quickly than I had a moment ago, I
saw it had its eyes closed intentionally, as though trying
to ignore the others whom had since flown to a nearby
forest, the almost leafless trees now filled with light.
"Are you okay?" I asked in a whisper, eliciting no more
than a light nod from the small rune. I picked her up
carefully, her eyes opening lazily, and inspect to see
whether she is injured; Surely she would not stay on
the ground like this otherwise? I found no problems,
however, with her health, at least that I could discover
with my knowledge.
"You crazy, crazy little girl," I say, deciding that this
one did seem to be female. She looks at me, her huge
eyes a combination of sadness and peace. She made
a small response, a sort of coo like noise. Canvas
flew to my shoulder, investigating the new arrival with
interest. The smaller dragon, however, tried to avoid
eye contact, shyly avoiding interaction. Canvas puffs
out her chest slightly, to no avail. The glowing green
rune shifts in my arms to a more comfortable position,
not making an effort to leave.
"Well, settling already? You are either very ambitious
or very lazy, you insane little baby." I say teasingly to
the rune, who looks at me with the most innocent
eyes imaginable.
"Shouldn't you return to your flock?" I ask her, while
she chooses to ignore the question.
Shaking my head, I walk her over to the trees
where her companions have perched comfortably,
placing her on a low branch. Canvas settles back into
my backpack, and I walk in the direction I had been heading.
The night goes by slowly, and sometime just past midnight
I set out a bedroll underneath an evergreen. I place my bag
as a pillow, trying not to squish Canvas, who has long
since gone back to sleep, and crawl into the warmth of my
blanketing.

Pre-dawn light wakes me, and as I try to get out of bed
to prepare some of the diminishing food, I feel a small
weight on my feet. A small, warm, glowy weight.
"You truly are strange, little one," I say to the
nocturnal rune dragon, who responds with a grin.
"Do you wish to travel with us?" I ask her, to which she
shows the most enthusiasm I have seen from her yet
with energetic nodding. Just then the sun peeks
up from the world's edge, eliciting a hiss-shriek from
the darkly colored rune, whom tries to find cover. I place
her in my backpack with a still sleeping Canvas, light
hidden for now.
"So I guess daylight's a no for you." I say, not particularly
to her or anyone. She squeaks in a barely audible voice,
her fear showing itself bluntly. I hear Canvas start to make
grumbling sounds, emerging from the tent-like bag.
"Guess who's coming with us?" I say, but as I finish
the thought, I realize something.
"We don't have a name for you yet, do we?" I say,
lifting the flap of the bag just enough to see her glow.
The rune dragon nods a bit, and I try to think of a
fitting name, nothing sticking.
Wisp? Willow? Luna? I think, brainstorming ideas,
before something sounds good, as though whispered by
someone more observant than I;
Schizophrenia.
"Schizophrenia?" I say out loud, to which she
considers with curiosity.
After a moments thought, she gives a small scree,
the name declared suitable.
"Well then, welcome to our travels, Schizophrenia."
As I say that, Canvas lands from her flying session, which I
admittedly didn't notice. She points with her wing, a set of
rooftops visible in the distance.
What wonderful luck, I think happily,
glancing into my backpack at my newest companion.
Wonderful indeed.

Poem:
A small glow in the night-time,
Undercover for her fright-time,
No warning to her bite-time,
Schizophrenia.

Her fear does guide her
Astray it may lead
Will it conquer
Or will she not heed?

An escape is her flight-time,
From the nothing-seems-right-time,
from dusk until light-time,
Schizophrenia.

Her guide has been bested,
Fright companion no more,
Her spirit well rested,
Courage less of a chore.

Her worries now slight-time,
For now all is sublime,
No more need to fight-time,
Schizophrenia.
