    - About the character -

    Name: Moss

    Gender: Female

Species and/or specific breed: Canine, Specifically a Husky/Inu mix.

Personality: Moss is a very closed up dog. She doesn't speak unless spoken to and it takes a lot for her to trust others. If given a dangerous situation, she fights unless she is forced into flight. Moss knows the difference between wrong and right and will always choose the right things to say or do in any given situation. She might forgive, but Moss never forgets. She will fight for her family and friends till the end.

    History/Background:

If you want to get out alive, run for your life~

It started out as a normal night. The sky was clear, the stars were out and the moon was full, floating high in the sky. Me, my owner, Rebecca, and her daughter Kayla were sitting in the living room. Rebecca was knitting Kayla a sweater while Kayla was playing tug of war with me. I knew to be gentle with the young girl, I didn't want to hurt her or ever see her hurt. Kayla yawned loudly and Rebecca looked up from her knitting.
“Time for bed little one.” She said sweetly, picking up little Kayla. I stood up as Rebecca took the little girl upstairs. I wasn't allowed in bed with either Rebecca or Kayla but I slept in the hall outside Kayla's room, you know, to keep the monsters away. I perked my ears as Kayla muttered something about not wanting to go to sleep, that she wasn't tired yet. Rebecca laughed a little and shook her head. As Rebecca laid Kayla down, I walked in to lick her cheek before walking back out to my dog bed and blanket outside her door. Rebecca came out of the room and gently shut the door behind her.
“Good girl Moss. Now you go to sleep too.” she said, kneeling down to pat my nose and stroke my long green fur. She didn't seem to mind at all that I didn't look like normal dogs. Actually, she seemed to love me even more for it. I gave a little yap before turning three times to lay down and Rebecca pulled the blanket over me. “Good night Moss. Sleep well.” She said, before turning out the hallway light before going downstairs to her room to go to sleep as well.

In the middle of the night, my nose twitched. I lifted my head, half asleep and not ready to get up quite yet. Something smelled different...like burning wood. It had been getting colder that past few days, so I thought that maybe Rebecca had thrown some wood into the old wood stove to keep the house warm. Taking a deep breath through my nose, I smelled it again, stronger this time. Usually after smelling it once or twice, my nose adjusted and I got over the smell. Just in case, I took a third sniff. The smell was still there. I stood up, suddenly on high alert. Something was wrong now, I could feel it. I walked downstairs, to see about the wood stove. It wasn't even burning...so what was that burning smell? Looking towards the window, I saw a bright flame flicker up. I gasped then ran towards the closed door on the far side of the room, barking as loud as I could to wake Rebecca. There was a faint yell from the inside of the room, something along the lines of 'Shut up and go back to sleep.' Well...apparently she wasn't aware of the danger. I then backed up to the far wall of the living room, and then ran, throwing myself at the bedroom door. I heard a heavy groan and footsteps. That did the trick. Rebecca opened the door and looked down at me. I started barking and ran back to the window. Rebecca followed me, telling me not to play now, it was the middle of the night. I jumped up, putting my paws on the window, which was starting to get warm. Rebecca came over to me and went to pick me up. As she glanced out the window, a look of horror spread across her face.
“Good girl Moss, thank you.” She said, running back upstairs to get Kayla awake so they could leave. A loud crashing sound filled the area as a giant tree fell through the kitchen. I watched with horror as flames started crawling up the walls and clinging to the ceiling, burning my precious home. I started barking again as Rebecca came downstairs with Kayla. Rebecca shook her head and started going through the backdoor exit. As I went to follow her, a burning support beam fell from the upper roof and blocked the little hall to the backdoor exit. I heard a loud pop from behind me and saw that the window had shattered from the heat. Now was my only chance to get out of the house alive. I ran as fast as my legs would carry me. Using the back of the couch as a spring board, I launched myself through the window and into the burning night.

When I landed outside, I'm not sure what I expected, but it wasn't this. All the trees around the house were covered with flames and starting to fall in whatever direction they pleased. Worse off, it seemed that I was trapped. My first thought was to find a way to the other side of the house to find Rebecca and Kayla. I looked side to side quickly before running to my left. As I rounded the corner of the house, I stopped dead in my tracks. Burning trees were laying crisscrossed around. With a sigh, I turned to run back and jumped back as a tree nearly hit me. I took a moment to call my breathing and ran towards the only opening I saw, between two trees about twenty feet away. I jumped through the trees and then looked back, just to see if they were gonna fall on me. They started falling the other way so I turned back and then started to circle the other way to the back of the house. After making zigzags around falling trees, I found my way to the back of the house. Rebecca had left the back door open in her haste to get out with Kayla. I didn't see either of them. I panicked slightly, and started barking again. Nothing answered my bark except the crackling of the trees and the loud thuds of them hitting the ground. I started running again, in the direction I thought Rebecca would've went with Kayla. Little did I know (until later on), that I had been going deeper into the burning forest. I stopped at a little incline but I slipped, rolling down the incline and landing a patch of cool...something. I opened my eyes, not realizing I had closed them. I looked at what I was laying in. Moss, how fitting. Wait...Moss. That meant water was nearby. I started walking along the moss and eventually stepped into a shallow part of a pond. The water was cool against my slightly burning fur. I slid in the water deeper, to cool off. I looked around, the pond I was in was surrounded by burning trees but because of the damp area around the pond, none of the fire reached the pond. Also, the trees were far enough away for them to not be able to reach the pond when they fell. I started to feel the adrenaline drain from my body and sleep started to take over. Half asleep, I gently gathered a small nest of moss to sleep on. As my emerald green eyes slid shut, I whined because I hadn't found Rebecca or Kayla.

Light hit my eyes and I slowly opened my eyes. The first thing I noticed was that I wasn't in my moss nest beside the pond. A green plush blanket was wrapped around me and I was being carried. I looked up and saw a man carrying me. When he felt me shift, he looked down at me.
“Well...good to see you're awake. I was worried you were dead when I found you by the pond and you weren't moving.” He said softly to me and I yipped a bit. “Well, I found you in a moss patch so I'll call you Moss. You're fur is an odd color, but it's calming and interesting. My name is Richard, and you'll be staying with me.” He said, stroking my green fur. I settled back down into the plush blanket in his arms and let him carry me to his car. Richard set the blanket down in the passenger seat and went around to get in the driver's side. As we drove around curves and through forests to get to my new home, I sighed, thinking about Rebecca and Kayla. I hoped they were okay. I didn't find them and I couldn't have lived on my own at the lake. Maybe it was a good thing Richard found me. I might never see Rebecca or Kayla again but I'll have a home where I'm loved and where I will stay.

After living with Richard for a few weeks, I decided I liked it here. It was out in the countryside. It wasn't all forest, there was a big field for me and Richard to play in. There was also a large pond with fish in it. I was allowed to swim in the pond but I found out the hard way not to try and catch the fish. Richard's house was fair size, not too big, not too small. I slept in Richard's bed at night with him or in his reading chair in the corner of the room. Richard didn't have any other animals besides me and the fish in the pond. One day, Richard came home earlier than expected.
“Moss, here girl.” He called, and whistled. I came running from his room and met him in the kitchen. He picked me up and ran his fingers through my fur. “I have someone for you to meet.” he said, walking outside with me. When I saw the two people leaning against the car outside, I barked for joy. It was Rebecca and Kayla.
“MOSS!” Kayla shouted and ran up to Richard, who put me down beside the girl. She started petting me and I licked her face.
“Richard...how did you find her? We thought we lost her forever.” Rebecca said, kneeling down to pet me. I licked her hand then looked up at Richard.
“Well, I went into the woods after the fire and scouted around, seeing if we lost the whole mountainside. I found a little pond and she was laying in a little nest of moss. I didn't know she had an owner because she didn't have a collar on. I named her Moss because I found her in a nest of moss. Although, it is amusing that she was already named Moss.” he said with a laugh and I barked. Rebecca and Richard looked at me.
“We are one big family now.” Rebecca said, picking up Kayla and Richard picked me up before heading into the house.

That one night changed everything for me...but then nothing at all

Why I want Joey: Who wouldn't want Joey?
He's simple, and wonderfully gorgeous in his own way. This character's design caught my eye promptly, and I would love the honour of calling this beautiful dog my own.
Plus, I love border collies, they're my favourite dog breed. They're wonderfully intelligent.
His design is pleasing to the eye and the contrasts between his coat and eye are just amazing, plus his speckled pawpads are beyond adorable.
And the bandana! Who could forget that? I love his checked bandana. It fits him so well and it really pulls the design together marvellously, but I plan on changing it to a bow-tie. Of course, it will be blue checkered.

What I will do with Joey: I plan on drawing Joey, since I'm fond of drawing, and his colours are easy enough that I can draw him traditionally.
He'll be spoiled with lots of art, a place on a character thread or site, and I may write stories for him as well.
He will definantly be used in roleplaying too.
Joey will be spoiled rotten with little doodles and the like.

I wish I could say that I would roleplay him, but my roleplaying has been less and less, and now I've only got a few 1x1s going. Though I would probably use him in other pieces of writing, as I find the character I've given him particularly interesting, and he will of course receive art when I can get it. Rising prices and all, but there are still places to get good stuff for cheaper prices.
- About the character -
Name: Still working on this, but for now he is known as 243 or 'The Investigator'
Gender: Male
Species/Breed: Ethiopian Wolf
---
Personality:
You'll be lucky to get one of these out of me but perhaps I'll give you one. Perhaps.
---
History/Background:
Silence fell as the dust settled on the platform, the train taking one last stop to pick up some new passengers before taking the long journey from the country's capital to the countryside. The scent of burning coal greeting my nose after so long in the twisting alleyways of London beyond the factories, spewing out smoke from the chimneys so high they appeared to touch the sky. As technologically advanced the capital may have been, I was glad to be returning to the countryside. Even if it was only as a short family visit. Purchasing my ticket, first class, I made my way on board the train, sitting down in my own private compartment. Glad I paid the little extra to get one to myself, I quickly started to doze off, sleep finally catching up with me. All the sleepless nights from working cases was effecting my health, so this vacation was just as much for myself as it was for my family. Doctor's orders... Fresh air and plenty of sleep. The compartment was cold as any English night, the condensation on the window trickling down the glass and lulling my mind into a state of almost relaxation. At that moment it seemed as though the Earth had slowed down, and all that mattered was getting to sleep. So why fight it? My eyelids heavy, exhaustion taking over and my body giving its full consent, I leant back against the seat, allowing my mind to fade into the darkness it craved.

I can not remember when the train departed from the platform, but I can clearly remember waking. My body was being shaken, quite violently in fact. There were raised voices, and worried expressions plastered across the faces of those with me. Taking a quick glance out the window as I was allowed to sit up, I watched the sun on the horizon, realising I had slept for a good few hours at least. It had been late afternoon when I had fallen asleep, and now the sun was almost completely set, just an orange smudge on the horizon. The vibrations in the floor meant the train was still moving, but I had been woken, so something must have happened. The man closest to me was dressed in uniform specific to the train, while the other was more likely a passenger like myself. Smartly dressed, but not so much so that it would be uncomfortable, possibly visiting relatives as I was?
“Yes gentlemen? What can I do for you?”
They exchanged glances, then looked back at me, a few moments passing as the man in uniform hesitated before speaking.
“You're him, aren't you? The investigator? We heard you was here.”
This caught my interest, my ears perking up in curiosity. So they knew who I was? So if they were waking me, knowing my identity, then there surely was a case on board the train. How exciting. I had never had a case on the move before. The very thought of it made my body tingle with anticipation.
“Yes my fine fellows. I am the investigator. I am to assume you require my services?”
They didn't waste any time in briefing me of the case that had cropped up. A young woman had been found dead in one of the private compartments by a guard on his round, making sure everything was safe, when it very obviously wasn't. There didn't seem to be anything stolen from the body, nor was there any posing or, as they say anyway, evidence of the perpetrator. I wasn't going to take their word for it though, I needed to take a look for myself. They didn't know what they were looking for, but I did. It was, after all, my job to notice what others didn't.

So they took me to the scene of the crime. It wasn't too far from my own compartment, but was far enough away from all other occupied ones for the murder to have happened without anyone noticing. I was, unfortunately, a pretty heavy sleeper, so I wouldn't have heard anything had I been closer, but it was the perfect place to set up such an act. The poor woman hadn't stood a chance... But there was no point in spending time feeling sorry for her. That wasn't going to solve her murder or catch her killer... There was no room for sentiment.

Inspecting the scene, taking a mental note of where everything was. Having trained my memory, I could remember the placing of everything on the scene, this would certainly help me later on. But for now I had to focus on what was in front of me, and what it all meant. She was sat up, her body leant against the back of the seat but the way the blood had pooled on the ground meant she had been killed standing up... Shot from the doorway of the compartment. Small caliber for sure. There was no exit wound, so the bullet was still lodged inside somewhere... That was going to be interesting to handle... The weapon had probably been tossed, so there was no point trying to locate it. It wasn't on the scene, that much I could see. Looking at the way the body had been placed in the seat, I was surprised by how lifelike the positioning had been, so it was more than likely someone who knew what they were doing. Scenting the air, my nose instantly wrinkling from the scent of strong perfume, probably from the woman's bag, that had been sprayed to cover up the scent. They definitely knew what they were doing, and who they would be dealing with. Much more fun for me... The game continued. Checking the woman's possessions, I found two tickets, both had been used, so the woman wasn't alone. The other pass was for a child, but there was obviously not a child at the scene. This was getting more and more interesting...

Turning my attention to the ground, I noticed some faint scuff marks from shoes on a section of damaged carpet. The woman's bag had been flung off the table, the contents spilling out across the floor across from the woman's body, so the child had been taken but fought back. I just hoped she was still alive and hadn't suffered the same fate as her mother.
“Who was she? I need as much information as you can get me...”
Only then could I start to piece this mystery together... To find out who would have wanted her dead, and to find out who would have wanted to kidnap her daughter. I was pretty sure there was going to be some digging to be done, after all, there always was. Though I most certainly enjoy it, so it isn't really work for me. Revealing all the secrets of another... Well, people have killed to find the truth, so who could blame me for enjoying it?

The man didn't seem very pleased to be giving me the information, but complied with my wishes, telling me everything there was to know about her. That was known anyway... Apparently she was pretty well known around the station area, so I was told a few of the rumours surrounding her and her family. Mostly about her husband being in debt, and a heavy debt at that, to the wrong kind of people. This was definitely motive for the wife's murder, and the daughter's abduction... If only I could confirm these rumours and get some names... Though I was going to have to try and wrap this up quickly, before we made it to the country, or the killer was going to disappear for good. Until the next kill anyway, but who knows when that would be? Or if we would even find it... This guy, as I have mentioned previously, knew exactly what he was doing, so the likeliness of catching them off this train was slim. Very slim.

Running through the scene in my mind, letting every possible event run through until one was found that explained everything, I went through this story with the men with me, smiling to myself.
“The mother and daughter were sitting down, the mother closest to the window drinking tea. Our killer appears at the door, the mother moves to shield the daughter and gets shot, her arm catching her bag as she goes down, shoving it off the table. The bag had been opened by the daughter trying to get to the phone, but was obviously stopped before this happened as no number was dialled. The daughter is then knocked unconscious, more than likely through chloroform if you scent the air, giving the killer time to mask the scents to some degree with the spilled perfume, and pose the mother's body to avoid suspicion. But the guards were scheduled to come by, so our killer had to disappear but with the unconscious girl, they have to still be on the train.”
They appeared quite amazed, but I didn't want their praise. Now we had the method, we needed to narrow down a list of suspects and begin questioning people. The girl may not have that long left, depending on what the killer wanted...

when you think you’re all alone
Seeping through the cracks
I’m the poison in your bones
My love is your disease
I won't let it set you free
Til I break you

You’ll never know what hit you
Won’t see me closing in
I’m gonna make you suffer
This hell you put me in
I’m underneath your skin
The devil within
You’ll never know what hit you

I tried to be the lover to your nightmare
Look what you made of me
Now I’m a heavy burden that you can’t bear
Look what you made of me

I'm very harsh when judging, so feel free to be as harsh on my work as you want. Personality:

History/Background:
"You wouldn't believe my story even if I told you. You wouldn't believe how hard I fought for my freedom...how much I lost along the way....You wouldn't believe me if I said, I used to be wild...."
------

I grazed in the pastures of my ancestors, the herd of which I loved, breathed and fought for, huddled together, enjoying the sweet pickings of a fresh patch of grass. My eyes wandered the cloud dotted sea of sky, just listening to the sweet sound of the wind sweeping over the plains. This was my home, a peaceful paradise for me and my family, perfect in every shape and form.
I slowly drifted from the clouds to the face of my beautiful wife, oh, she was more beautiful then anything else in this big blue earth. Her long flowing brown locks rippled gently in the wind, her gorgeous eyes...oh those eyes, shimmering with life. She glanced over at me, nickering playfully and bobbing her head before returning to grazing. Man, I couldn't help but stare. How could I be so lucky?
My eyes again wandered to the grass beneath me, rich green in color, dipped in morning dew. Sweetest thing I've ever tasted. But as I began to eat I heard it.
-Bang-

A sound unlike anything I had ever heard before. The herd was startled, and all I could do was call out to them to settle until I could figure out what was happening. I locked eyes with my wife, nodded my head in reassurance before racing towards the edge of the plain, our boarder to the neighboring herd led by a friend of mine.  I only had a moment to glance over his lands before I saw the strangers. Pale, white creatures upon my kin, riding towards the other herd, thin brown things swirling in the air, and entrapping around necks and legs of horses. I backed up in fear, not for me, but for my herd. I reared up before thundering over the grass, letting out warning calls along the way.
I reached them quickly, warning them about what I had seen, and soon after we were moving like a wave upon the ocean towards the trees.
