The lone wanderer. So tired, so miserable.
All but a mere shadow of an once vibrant soul.

Cursed by fate, burdened by sorrow.
Sentenced to a life of nothing but loneliness...
It looks like not everyone deserves a happy ending, after all.

Story: The wind slowly whistled through the trees, a song that only nature could replicate. Soft prints of a creature marked a path directly into these trees. A small huddle of woodland high up into the mountains, where scarcely anything could live. A keen eye peered out over short brush, the creature's breath plowing puffs of mist, swirling off into the cold, brisk air. The color of the ocean, the eye scanned the nearby clearing before exiting the brush, her hooves barely sinking into the snow. These cold mornings weren't uncommon to her, weren't uncommon for this place. She rose her head, and released a single, ringing whinny across the white plain. Echoing back at her 3 times, she felt satisfied. She walked forward, further out of the comfort, cover of her woods. Her long, winding tail whisking back and forth behind her, the color of the snow crunching beneath her hooves.

She lowered her muzzle, and stopped. She sniffed the cold earth, intent on feeding on the grass that was undoubtedly below the frozen sheen of white. As she dug into the frost, something rustled behind her. Her head shot up, and she whipped around, as quick as a lightning bolt. Her stance depicted ultimate control, readiness, not complete hostility, however. Her front legs splayed wide, just as wide as her back legs were splayed. Her head down, ears pinned, tail whipping slowly back and forth, fur risen. She learned this when she was but a foal, barely a weanling, her father taught her the protection she dearly needed. She was always the outcast, acting more like a stallion than a true mare. Her mind then snapped back to what was rustling in the dark depths of the early sunrise-lit leaves. Her eyes narrowed as the bushes rustled, more frantically than before.

Suddenly, a small figure toppled from these bushes, falling face-first into a deep drift of snow. It awkwardly got to it's hooves, and shook the snow from it's pelt, once again knocking it off it's own awkward, spindly legs. By now, Sky was out of her fighting stance, which she never really expecting to fight anyway. She knew what it was, and it certainly was no threat. If it had been remotely a threat, one small nudge to it's shoulder would have sent it spinning across Sky's home. It was a dawn, lightly, delicately colored for protection that it had not received. It's frantic look instantly told Sky that it was searching for a mother that was most certainly lying somewhere, a passed predator's lunch. Suddenly, a pang of pity, and guilt settled into Sky. She, too, had lost her own mother at a very young age. She felt the woodland critter's pain. She strode slowly, cautiously over to the fawn, and nudged it's shoulder, causing the poor creature to frantically attempt escape. It merely got 2 feet before toppling over.

The thing seemingly gave up. it lay there, still, in the snow, on it's side, panting. Sky walked toward it, her head down, her eyes curious. She nudged it, encouraging it silently to open it's eyes. As it did so, she licked it's muzzle slowly. Little did she know then that that little gesture of kindness would lead her to have a life-long friend. A fawn named Lily.

(edited for the story and slight name change, as I realized I already adopted a creature and named him Kuura.)

I'm back on CS! I'll be attempting to tie up loose ends, i.e. way overdue customs in my closed adoption things.
I am looking for someone who draws horse-like creatures well for a custom lines creation. Pm me for details

So, my internet and power are flashing in 'n' out sometimes, so I've been missing in action for a while. If I disappear, it's probly 'cause of my internet problems.

Equid's Name: Makani (It's hawaiian for wind/spirit)
Height: 14 hh
Gender:Mare
Age: 3
Story:
The sun shone brightly on the morning of a day many Wild Mountain Equids would never forget. About a week earlier a beautiful foal was born. The grulla tobiano filly had already proven herself to be sweet, majestic, and loved by her peers.

She could already run smoother than an eagle could soar even with her to-long legs. She didn’t talk at all though. Some started saying she was a mute, but she simply didn’t need word to express what she meant. This amazed many, because usually foals didn’t know how to express things without an overload of words they didn’t know the meaning of. She was very mature for her age.

Many Wild Mountain Equids, or WME for short, asked the foal’s dam what she was going to name the foal. No one, including the dam and sire, had any ideas as to what would suit the foal, so she was unnamed. Some called her the mute, or the strange one. Even though they loved her dearly, they had to admit she was different from the other foals. When the others played, she napped. When the other napped, she went exploring on her own to figure out the many wonders of nature alone.

That particular morning was very sunny and bright. All the foals ran and played, while the little mute pranced only because she was nervous. She could tell something bad was going to happen but couldn’t tell what exactly. She headed for the woods which led up a mountain. She galloped and leaped over rocks and logs going up the steep incline. Upon reaching the top she looked around and whinnied loudly.

When they heard her, the WME’s woodland friends came running. She looked at the little critters and explained that something bad was going to happen and she could feel it without using a single word. They understood her but didn’t believe her. She was rather heartbroken since they always trusted her. She ran away from them across the top of the rocky mountain.

Suddenly a wind blew against her so hard she nearly lost her footing. She turned to the North, where it was coming from. A massive cloud, purple and grey in color, was blowing her way. Lightning burst out of its sides and it looked truly menacing.

The little mute span around so fast she tripped over her own feet. She got back up and realized she had never been to this part of the mountain and didn’t have any idea how to get back to the herd. She leaped down a rocky cliff, jumping from rock to rock like a squirrel might jump from tree to tree. She slowly made her way down and found herself in a big open field.

She galloped through the long grass, which was up to her back. She leaped through the especially long part like a deer and landed with agile every time. Suddenly it got dark. The mute looked into the sky and saw the cloud was directly above her and the sky was black. She picked up the pace as the lightning brightened the world for a split second only to die and be followed by a loud clap of thunder.

The rain came down in heavy sheets like the ocean was being sponged onto the land before her. She looked up and saw the cloud stretching down as if to touch the earth in a strange funnel. It span and got wider. The mute ran under it and soon after it touched the earth. She galloped out of the tall grass and onto short grass. She came to a cliff and saw the herd.

The mute’s voice came to her and she shouted loudly warning them of the tornado. The WME’s saw her and thought she was simply a spirit of the wind. She looked more like a ghost than anything else the way the grey and white on her coat gleamed against the bolts of lightning in the air, and the wind blue her mane. She herd ran for shelter and the tornado went right through where they were.

No one knows how the little mute survived, or if she did. She’s now just a legend among the Wild Mountain Equids. She is known as Makani, spirit of the wind, the spirit who saved them all. It wasn’t the last time something like that happened. Makani could sense when something bad was to happen and always returned to warn the herd. It is told she lives somewhere high in the mountains now, only to be seen when danger is around.

One day a storm came like any other storm, which was why Makani was confused. She could sense the danger but couldn’t see it, as it just appeared to be rain. It poured all day. Makani saw the foals playing in the mud and the others enjoying the bath. Makani knew after a good rain such as this one, came plentiful grass and full rivers and lakes.

It poured rain all day and night for the next 10 days. When it was over Makani walked down to the now very large river. She saw several dead animals and right away knew what had happened. The danger was that the flooded fields, drowned animals, over flowing lakes and river, had poisoned the water. The fields were now lakes. The only dry place was the tops of the mountains. Makani ran up the mountain, which was difficult because the rocks were slippery and where there was dirt the run off created huge ditches and holes.

Makani found the herd, which was small. The foals and elders had drowned. Makani called to them and brought them to a cave. She ran away and they watched her, again appearing like a ghost. She went to the top of the mountain and gazed upon the wreckage of the storm, not sure how to find food or safe water, but was sure she would figure it out.... Eventually....

Story:
(From inside the mind of Zinc)
My body had finally decided to wake when I noticed how unsually cold it was. An unprovoked shiver began to creep down my spine and I stretched out my aching slept-on neck. Even for such a high altitude, this temperature seemed quite unusal. What an odd feeling...this morning. I smelled the dew on the ground of my mountainside home, which I noticed was practically crystalized from the frosty air. My family was still asleep and the last thing that I would want to do is wake them. I rose to my shaky hooves and stretched my legs, then quietly exited the area. My mouth was dry and the river was only a short gallop away from my herd's current residence. It was the main reason that we had settled there, but it was also a danger, because the water attracts other creatures besides ourselves. Some were dangerous so we always had to always be on guard.

I rounded the rocky corner and could now see my destination. The smell alone triggered enthusiasm and I gleefully trotted to the water's edge for a sip. When I began to drink I realized how thirsty I must have been. I hadn't had anything to drink, or even eat, since yesterday morning. My herd was mostly traveling along rock the previous day, and grass was scarce.

I tilted my ears, and quickly looked to my east side. A curious sound had caught my attention. It was loud and sounded almost like thunder. What could it possibly be? It was echoing from up the river about a mile. It made me uneasy but it was still quite a while away so I didn't think anything of it. Then I saw it. A tree tompling over about the same distance from where the unknown sound had originated. Being the coward that I am these occurances made me uneasy. Something was wrong, and I didn't want to stay to find out what it was. I took some steps backward, ready to head back and warn the others when another tree tompled over less than a few hundred feet from me. I panicked and began galloping. Straight through the river I went, without even thinking and the water got up to my head. No matter how hard I pushed I couldn't keep my self grounded in the river's heavy current, and I floated downstream. I had managed to keep my mouth and nostrils above the surface and, ironically, I flailed like a fish out of water.

It all happened so fast but out of the surrounding forrest I saw a black blur run to the edge of the river. It was keeping pace with myself and as I was watching I hit my head on something. Hard. And I blacked out.....

When I awoke I was thankfully on the sweet, sweet ground again. The "black blur" was lying not far to my left. He was now in focus, and he was the most stunning thing I had ever seen. A handsome stallion. His red eyes were gleaming into mine, and he smiled and nodded. "You're finally awake," he said, "You hit your head on tree that the two-leggers knocked down into the water. It was hard, but I was able to get you back to land without having to watch you drown."

I blushed with embarrassment. "Thank you for saving my life. May I ask my savior's name?"

He eyes wandered away from mine and danced off into deep thought. When he finally rejoined my gaze he replied with, "Thiessen. My name is Thiessen. We were so worried that you were going to have brain damage."

Whoa, whoa! Hold on. He just said we. That means there are more than one. And wait. Did he say that he thought I would have brain damage?! So rude!

An orangish-colored mare appeared out of the forrest. She snuck up behind him and playfully nipped at Thiessen's mane. Frightened, he jumped "oh, it's just you," he said, "She's awake."

In a very spunky voice this mare replied. "I know she's awake! What? Do you think I'm blind or something?"
She directed herself to me and asked, "How are you honey? Did you receive any brain injuries?"

Again with the brain injury thing. What an odd question. "Excuse me? A brain injury? Of course not!.....Where is my herd?"

The two of them turned to eachother with questionable looks on their faces. And turned back towards me. "We're sorry. They are gone. We couldn't catch up with them, but we were hoping......"
The stallion interrupted, "-What Seraphim is trying to say is that we would like you to join our herd. That is, if you'd like to?"

And this is the question that started it all. At the time, I thought that they must be crazy. Taking me from my herd, insulting my perfectly normal brain, and then asking me to join them? I thought they were clinically insane. But even so, I reluctantly said yes. This is how I've joined my incredible two best friends and cantered out into the adventure of a lifetime with them! :D

Equid's Name: Tierra

Age: 5
Story:

Must keep going, must be strong, must survive...

Tierra flicked her tiny ear, her breath misty in the early morning dawn. Wrapping her long tail around her, she sniffed at the loose threads and snuggled into the protective warmth of the hair. The rising sun glinting in the reflective surface of her foal hooves, the shadows of tree's slowly getting bigger as the sun rose up from where ever it went too last night. Raising her delicate head, she flicked her head around for signs of her mother, She'll come back, she promised Tierra thought before laying her head in the soft grass again. Sighing, she closed her heavy-lidded eyes and drifted back into a restless sleep...

Must keep going, must be strong, must survive...

As Tierra woke she angrily flicked the long forelock out of her ice-blue eyes and stood on her long legs. The sun was up already and it seeped through her cold coat. It wasn't long before she began to feel warm and soon was over at the river, drinking before she set out on todays walk. Everyday since her mum left Tierra would stray a little further then before she knew, of course, that her dam was long gone but never seemed to be able to give up hope. Today, however, she changed her mind and began to walk into the river. It was only shallow but the water felt good against her hocks. She was, however, careful not to stand on any fish don't want to hurt you little guys would I? She lowered her head to sniff the fish but they soon hurried away from her, she huffed and climbed out the river. Seeing the sun through the tree's she trotted out of the small forest and back into the meadow, she shook out her coat and looked over the hills, maybe today would be the day.

Must keep going, must be strong, must survive...

Speeding up her canter, Tierra was full on galloping as she covered the field in her long strides. I'll find you today, I promise. My blue eyes struggled against the force of the wind, as it whipped in my face. I saw a few shapes up ahead, three long shadows stretching over the hills. My heart leaped and I sped up to my full ability, I recognized the three things ahead were the same as me. The same big ears, the same long tail, the same extended mane. However none were similar to me, I breezed past them without stopping to ask who or where. Deep in my heart I knew that I wouldn't find her, I knew she had left or died. Abandoning me alone because she couldn't stand the shame of having a foal who's father was unknown. Somehow my hooves came to a stop and I stood, alone, in the empty field.

Must keep going, must be strong, must survive...

My white and blue coat shining in the sun, then I realized I was smiling. My foals playing around by my feet and my sweetheart out by the river. I had gone looking for my mother and came back with a family. It was better this way, I had found out later that she had passed on in the cold winter months when she was coming back to me. I felt bad after saying all the things I did about her, when it was her who had snuggled into me at the crack of dawn. To keep my tiny foal body from freezing. Then she died fetching me food, but now it was over. It was what I searched for but now I had my family to look after so this is where it ends.

(I kept it short, short and sweet xD )

I can't see past my own nose,
I'm seeing everything in slo-mo
Look out below crashing down to the ground
just like a vertical locomotive
That's a train, am I painting the picture that's in my brain?
A train from the sky, locomotive, my motives are insane
My flow's not great, okay, I conversate with people
Who know if I flow on a song I'll get no radio play

While you're doing fine, there's some people and I

Who have a really tough time getting through this life

So excuse us while we S I N G to the S K Y.
