"Hello, and welcome to the Symphony Character Adoption Agency, v.2 - 'The song continues'. We are an adoption agency for characters of all sizes and shapes, and we've been rehoming unused and unwanted characters since June 3rd, 2011. Over the time that we have been open, many things have changed about us. We have gained popularity and provide many more kennels for adoption, and now we are opening our second thread, the newest addition of us! I've worked hard to create a new environment for the SCAA, so please do make yourself at home. Above you can see our mascot, Symphony. He was the base idea for our name, our initials, our first banner; essentially everything that has given this place its identity. And below, you can find information about us, and most importantly, our kennels! Please do browse, and see if there isn't something you'd like to take home today!"

What is a code drop?


A code drop is a date that is set out specifically for when the judges will all look at the list of qualifying forms and decide which person deserves each character. A character does not need to be given out simply because there was an applicant for it; instead, we do our judging based upon how much effort was put into the form. While it is always quality placed before quantity, forms without lengthy personalities and decently sized background stories do not have as large of a chance of receiving the character.

What is a revamp, and can anyone do one?


A revamp is when a character in one of the kennels receives a fresh new picture that updates the character's personality and encourages more people to apply for them. Sometimes it's simply a change of lineart, while other times species and/or designs are moderately changed. Please be sure to check the original donor's preferences to see if you are able to change the species or designs before doing so in a revamp. Anyone may revamp characters in the kennel.

My donation wasn't put up. What are the filler preparations?


If your donation wasn't put up at the most recent code drop, it is because it is residing in the filler preparations. The filler preps are a list of characters that have been donated that have yet to be put into the kennels. They reside in the filler preps until the next code drop comes and they are put up in place of the characters given out at the code drop. Filler preps go up in order of donation.

- Do not post a form without the character's name, kennel number, image, or some other identification aspect just for the sake of "reserving."
- Do not post forms for two different characters in the same post, unless it is a joint form or story.
- Any character that you adopt from the SCAA or the New Homes Project cannot be sold for money, virtual currencies, CS pets, or ANYTHING else. If you no longer want them, donate them back here or to some other adoption place. Ask permission before giving away for free. You may now [after NOTIFYING ME FIRST] trade your SCAA-adopted characters for other characters and designs ONLY. You must, however, let the new owner know that they are not to sell the character for any other currencies. Please be sure to check kennel's preferences as some donors may still not want their characters traded.
- Do not spam the thread with one word posts, whining and complaining, or unneccessary posts.
- Refrain from arguments and quarrels by respecting staff and competition.
- You may adopt unlimited characters all together, though you may only apply for 3 characters per round.
- Please remove your form when you dropout and post a little notice on the thread letting me know that you no longer wish to be in the running for the character.
- Bribes will not be accepted.
- Keep in line with the donor's preferences. Please read the preferences of the kennel that you are applying for previous to submitting your form.
- You may order art of the character that you're applying for, though it doesn't help your chances much.
- Please do not post one-two paragraphs or less; you are wasting your time.
- Do not donate designs that lack in quality, character maker-made designs without extra references, or characters with headshot references.
- If you at any time in the middle of the round wish to take back a character because you are still attached to them or you don't like the form(s) put in for them, if other people are trying for them, you must fill out a form for the character just like any other character you may apply for. If you wish to take it back in the middle of the round, but it has no other forms submitted for it, you must wait until the next code drop to take it back just in case any one else takes interests in the character towards the end of the round.




- Instead of typing short, choppy sentences or an outline of their history, try writing your 'background/history' section like a short story using context, putting it in the point of view of the character, or using dialogue.
- Posting the form in legible, clear English and in a color that is not painful to read greatly improves your chances and makes you appear more intelligent.
- Make sure that the character described in the personality and the character represented in the history reflect the same character qualities and beliefs.
- Add extras such as likes, dislikes, and art if you'd like to prove how much you want and deserve the character.
- You're welcome to make your form more aesthetically pleasing with art, dividers, icons, etc.
- Make sure to read over all rules and don't do anything silly to get you disqualified.

New Round!

Hmm... it looks like Symphony is going through a little bit of a 'rebellious' phase.

He's changed his look... that's for sure!
Anyways, since Symphony has noticed the rise in characters being donated and the substantially lower number of characters being adopted, he's decided to hold a special round! Our goal is to eliminate the need for the New Homes Project by performing a huge clean-out session this round in the main SCAA kennels! Therefore, this round is going to be another EXTENDED round with the rules changed! Since Symphony is going through his rebellious phase, he's breaking all the rules and allowing you all to apply for as many kennels as you want! Now, be mindful not to spam the thread with hundreds of one-sentence forms. Symphony, the judges, and I won't allow the characters to go to just anyone. Because of the large amount of kennels that have been here for over a year, we will be judging much less harshly than normal for the kennels that generally don't get much interest. However, effort and love of character are the two most important factors that play into whether or not we choose to give you the character.

Now, I'm sure you all will want more time than normal to complete the forms that you're planning to do! However, I also know that if I keep the round open for too long, many of you will lose muse for the characters you were interested in. Thus, we'll be voting on a code drop date together a bit later, after everyone has gotten a sense of how many forms they're planning to put out.
