Patriot is a squirrel inspired by the American Flag and the song by Francis Scott Key in 1814, "The Star Spangled Banner".
His coat, if you can't read it, states a couple of my favorite verses from the song. They are as follows:
Then conquer we must when our cause it is just, and this be our motto 'In God We Trust'. No refuge could save the hireling and slave, from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave. Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Here is the original poem/song:

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
