The name actually means 'sea fortress' which made sense to me as well, since a sunset goes down over the sea in a way, like....the place where the ocean finds itself safe. I dunno, I'm weird, my brain makes strange connections. But it also was the name of Merlin from Arthurian legends, and so I think it suits him on all fronts.}
