Owner Name:
Manx
Name:
Kohtalo
It means fate or destiny in Finnish.
Gender:
Male
Personality:
Shy & Reserved:
The first impression most have of Kohtalo is that he is extremely shy. When he first meets people, Kohtalo is very quiet and shy. It takes quite a while for him to warm up to new people, and he come out of hiding very often; until he knows you, that is. The most common place to find him is off on his own in a corner, reading a book.
Inquisitive & Intelligent:
Kohtalo is extremely curious, about, well, everything. He simply loves to learn, and once he warms up to you, will constantly pester you, trying to find out more about you, despite being unable to talk. Despite his problem with leaking ink every where, he thoroughly enjoys reading books, both fiction and non-fiction. He is also very intelligent, and there are very few things he doesn't know and understand.
Loyal & Devoted:
Once you have earned Kohtalo's trust, you'll find he is the must loyal and devoted friend anyone could have. He's always very supportive, and if he can, he'll always try to lend a helping hand where needed. Also, Kohtalo is quite protective, and will defend those he cares for with his life.
Affectionate:
Kohtalo is a very loving, affectionate rune. Despite being quite shy when you first meet him, he actually loves to cuddle and be around others. Not many appreciate him nuzzling up to them though, due to the fact that he's almost constantly dripping ink on whatever he touches. If you are alright with that, he'll be more than happy to sit on your shoulder or rest in your arms.
Creative:
Just as he is intelligent, Kohtalo is also very creative. He's always coming up with new ideas for story plots and inspiration for art, and is always eager to share his ideas with others. It's not unnusual to be woken up in the middle of the night with an enthusiastic rune leaping on top of you, unable to wait until morning to tell or show you a brilliant idea he has come up with.
Hard Working:
Kohtalo is a very hard-working rune. It's not often he leaves a project unfinished, and almost every night he is up late into the night, either stargazing, brainstorming, or completing his current art or story.
Why do you wish to have him/her:
Well, first off, I absolutely love his colours. The light, glowing blue marking provides quite a nice contrast to the black of the rest of the body. His eyes are also quite spectacular. In addition to this, he'd also be my first rune dragon. Most of all, though, is the fact that I love the concept behind his design. Being a writer myself, and often needing inspiration, I find this rune connects to my personality and interests.
Where will you keep him/her:
This guy would certainly find himself a home in my character thread, as well as my signature. In addition to that, I would love to do some writing, and perhaps art, about him.
Would you like to breed him/her in the future:
I may, but I'm very picky about breeding my characters.
Any Quirks:
Kohtalo has a habit of collecting feathers. He simply loves observing the structure of different bird feathers, and so, has collected quite a hoard of them. In addition to this, he enjoys making feather quill pens. Using the ink that often drips from his skin, Kohtalo likes attempting to write and draw with the quills, and has in fact grown good with them.
Kohtalo is also quite a night-owl. He loves nothing more than staying up into the early hours of the morning, staring at the night sky. He's actually developed quite an interest in astronomy, and is quite an expert on constellations. Kohtalo always loves sharing his knowldge of the stars, and will happily teach and point out constellations and planets to any who ask.
Short Story:
"Chance of Fate"
A soft breeze whispered quietly through the trees, and birds filled the forest with their joyful tunes. The day itself was gorgeous, with the sun's rays warming the land and the azure sky free of clouds. All in all, it truly was a perfect day. I smiled softly to myself as I gazed upwards, taking in the sheer magnificence of the forest around me. Giant Redwood trees reached their branches to the sky, and their height was simply dizzying. After strolling through the forest for several minutes, I settled down, leaning against a mossy rock. Not far a way, a gurgling creek played a soothing melody.
Once I had settled myself in, I pulled my writing journal a pencil from my bag. Despite my lack of creativity these last few days, I was going to attempt to write again. This place did provide quite a bit of inspiration, after all. In fact, the reason I had come to the Redwood forest was to try and regain and sharpen my writing skills.
For several moments, I tapped my pencil against the notebook, periodically scribbling down ideas as I thought of them. None of them were particualrily good though, and found myself quickly discarding them. Frustration growing within me, I stood for a few moments to stretch my legs. A sudden drop of, well, something, hit my face as I walked. Startled, I turned my gaze upward. "It can't be rain... There isn't a cloud in te sky..." I thought as I gingerly reached up and touched the wet liquid on my face. To my surprise, it was a drop of pitch black liquid... In fact, it resembled ink quite closely...
Puzzled, I searched the tree branches far above me, but saw nothing significant. Even if there was something, it would be unlikely for me to spot it. The Redwood trees were simply too tall. Brushing the thoughts away, I returned to my spot by the large rock.
By late afternoon, I still hadn't managed to write anything half decent. I snapped my journal closed in frustration, and was thoroughly surprised as a small, black creature darted away in the bushes, only feet away from me. Curiousity replacing my frustration, I slowly rolled to my knees and inspected the bushes. Two brilliant blue eyes peered back at me, and for a moment that's how we stayed, our gazes locked. Little by little, the creature came out of hiding, and I was amazed to see before me a small, dragon like being. Excitement washed through me as I watched it. I had heard of these creatures before, beings known as 'Rune Dragons'. Never before I had I seen one before, let alone been this close to one.
Cokcing its head to the side, it seemed just as curious about me as I was about it. Tentatively, the small dragon came forward, moving in small hops. It suddenly opened its wings
