Prompt:It was a ticking clock. Each moment that passed.
Tick..
Tick..
Tick..
How much longer would they have to wait.
A weight that sat balanced on their shoulders. A weight that could not be shifted or moved, only passed forward once more. They would bear the weight once more, until the sky began to crack and the clouds began to rupture. They could not give into the world that lay beneath the surface.
The weight was near crushing, having to bear such a burden on such small shoulders. Working together, that was how it had to work. Even as the world tilted and fires lashed at their ankles like whips. The birds would sing their reassurances, the does would plant peace at their paws and the world seemed at ease for once.
Children of the divine. You must bear the weight of the sky. Bear the weight of all the wrongs. Children of the divine.
Younglings who had done no wrong. Bear the brunt of the evil in the world. Gaze upon where the world had slipped. It was the fate of the world, the fate of how the world was to come.
Innocence would drag the evil with it. Corrupt the innocent, purify the evil. The grey sat untouched.
Even as their fur was soaking, and their hearts were pounding, the world continued. The world would never stop spinning to assist those who had fallen.
Swirls overtook their vision, conquering the peace and hope that once sat in those small eyes. The peace a serenity that continued to draw those young paws forward had faltered. Had brought the world down once more.
A fight for the control, a fight for the dominance and strength to push on. Innocence had no place in the world of brute strength.
Hold the sky, my dear.
I believe in you.
